I’m we can all relate to this… but how do you stop this behaviour I hear you ask…!

It’s simple!

Do:
✔️ buy a more secure bin
✔️ keep the bin in a less accessible place (in a cupboard, on the counter)
✔️ shut the kitchen door when you’re not in there

Don’t:
❌ tell the dog off!!!

There is absolutely NO point in telling your dog off for this. Dogs are naturally opportunistic scavengers and bin raiding is a self rewarding behaviour… every time the dog raids the bin, it finds something tasty in there so he does it again and again. The best thing you can do is take away the temptation of the tasty bin snack to help your dog avoid carrying out this potentially dangerous or simply undesirable behaviour.
