Focus cue
Why teach a focus cue ?
❤️ I love the focus cue . ❤️
Can you see when I ask Stella to “look” 😀 what she does ?
Why ?
It helps the dog to focus on the first obstacle in agility . So you can move away or if the course requires a send away start/ there is a hard part next you can get ahead .
It can also be used in Scent work to focus on containers or a vehicle search . I use mine for both sports .
Dusty Utility Obedience
Did you know I did obedience ?
My Dusty the Australian stumpy tail cattle dog was the first stumpy in NSW to gain his Utility title in obedience . The stumpy is a unique breed so I felt privileged to be his owner . See video of his work that led him to his Utility title . He completed a track back to an article placed on a track with human scent and brings it to me , and directed jump and signal skills . Utility is the higher level in the competition and usually takes about 7-10 minutes for the test to be completed then the 2nd component of stays and group stand for exam. A very special boy !

⭐️Happy training ⭐️
Finn adaa
This is NOT a perfect run . But guess what I am so happy !
Why?
Finn has had a few challenges we have been working on some literally others are nutrition challenges .
1. A dog that wanted to play the game with me
2. He focussed
3. Mistakes were not dwelled on too much , we moved on as best we could not to train in the ring / adaa rules. Ie not go back on the see saw
4. A waggy tail At the end of the run.
5. Please think of others . Be nice . You never know what the human or dog have been through with their dog to get to trial.
6. Trialling with your dog is a privilege not a right . Look after our dogs .
Rollys dog training announcements over … now go play with your dog !
Jump grids for agility . A useful exercise and something we shouldn’t be afraid to go back to at any time with our dogs .
Christmas holiday activity . Take and hold anything ! I wants a great grip and no mouthing
Christmas holiday fun.
Take and hold anything !
My aim is for the dog to have great grip and no mouthing.
Finn & I have had a few projects on the go. This example helps with our pushing and convergence skills. Useful for backsides , serpentines , threadles and more . I use food. Bars are always lower than normal height . Jumps are close together to begin. If you try this out let me know ! #happytraining #pushing #Convergence #dogagilitytraining
Let’s talk backside jumps and working with the dog we have front of us . There are many methods and its important that we work with the dog we have . Go with your instinct on what is right for your dog .
Not just because there is some method everybody is doing , a trend or otherwise!
I’m doing my best to have Finn go to the back of the wing , making it his idea instead of me luring or forcing him.
Let me know your thoughts !
Working with the brown dog with some foundations again . It’s doesn’t hurt to revisit foundations
Something I love in agility to train is 2 on 2 off contacts !
Running contacts .. I have no idea ! Something on the dream to do list !
⭐️Startlines for Agility⭐️
They are super duper important .
I say to my students … “the world is your oyster “ if you have a startline for agility .
🔥 Hot tip :
Your startline release should be a verbal cue alone and your dog does not move just because your arm moved .
Video of some proofing with brown dog as he can be very pushy at the startline now his confidence is building for the game.
