🧨Happy 4th of July!! 🎉
We finally found a medicine that doesn’t knock Hope out for days due to her fear of fireworks and thunderstorms. She’s awake yet not freaking out at the war zone going on outside our house. I’m so happy for her! The Trazadone she used to take left her loopy and sleepy for days even though we only gave her a half of a pill instead of the two that she is suppose to get. Pyrenees have a very slow metabolism so they can’t take as much anesthesia and sedatives…they don’t come out of it very well and takes a while for them to get it out of their systems.
So thankful to have a vet that offers alternatives and works with us when I want something different!

I didn’t realize it’s been almost a year since I’ve posted anything about Hope! Where has the time gone?!? Sometimes it seems to fly by and then it seams like forever too. Anyway, Hope is doing great!! She is the sweetest girl and has the biggest heart. She’s healthy and fat (we’re working on that!). She’s also the silliest girl with a personality as big as she is. She protects her yard with her Pyrenees bark by sitting on the top of the pond (her hill) so she can see better. If any of you are old enough, she looks like Sam the Sheepdop from the cartoon. 🤣🤣 My husband wants to get her a wig for the bangs. 😂😂. She still loves going to doggie daycare, taking walks, Cami, our grandkids, Whataburger, going bye-bye, and has learned what chew bones are. She doesn’t tear the house up anymore when we leave…big progress! She is still terrified of fireworks, rain and thunderstorms, but knows she has a safe place to go and hide from the noises that terrify her so much.
Every time I go down the Beltway I see the place where she was living and am so grateful that she’s not a street dog anymore. I can’t imagine what she went through out on her own all of that time and it just breaks my heart. We are so blessed to have this girl and get to share our lives and love….and she is DEFINITELY loved a lot!!

Happy birthday to our sweet Hope!
We’ve had Hope for 9 months now. 😊 The vet figured she was a little over a year old when we found her so we made her birthday today!!
Of course, that meant her favorite...Whataburger!! 💜🐾

Our family went to Costa Rica for eight days for spring break and returned on Sat. We were a little apprehensive about leaving Hope for that long since she’s only been with us for 7months. We’ve always had someone come to our home and stay with our other pups while we’re gone, but with Hope this wasn’t an option. She has separation anxiety and gets destructive when we leave (as you’ve seen in prior pictures 😳)
so we decided boarding was the best option.
I made quite an effort to get Hope acclimated to being boarded by putting her in daycare several times a week and even having them spend the night as a “trial”. It was super important to us that she know that we were coming back for her and that Cami (our other dog) would always be right by her side. Of course we spent the extra money to get the “platinum” package with air conditioning, foam beds, blankies, TV, daycare during the day, swimming pool, afternoon cookies, and even storytime with extra cuddles at night...along with daily updates and pictures. 😊 We all waited anxiously every day for the updates. The first several days the pictures were great, she was all smiles and loving her “vacation”!
Then....I get the picture that makes your heart sink. My poor Hope. 😞The look of despair and sadness on her poor face brought us to tears...we were ready to cut our vacation short.
Thank goodness for friends (what would we do without them), they offered to go get her and visit her. 💓 One friend went to love on her and told her that we would be back and that she would go home.
Guess what?!? It actually helped her! The next few days she wasn’t as mopey in play group and was happier and playing in the picture updates...we were ecstatic! 👏🏻
We couldn’t wait to pick them up...I don’t know who was more excited to see each other...us or them! They of course got a Whataburger on the way home and slept all that day. Hope has settled back into her routine of lizard hunting and protecting the backyard from “everything” and is so glad to be home! My husband said we’ll never be able to ALL travel at the same time again....oh the things we do for our furbabies. 😊

I finally found a doggie daycare and Hope loves it! They start whining when we turn the corner and can’t wait to get in and play with their friends! 🐶🐶
The trainer said she was the easiest dog she’s ever introduced to others...this makes me so happy! 😆 I was really afraid of introducing her to other dogs off leash since I don’t know her background. That, and the fact that she and Cami play SO rough! They’re going once a week and are just exhausted when they get in the truck. On one occasion Hope got tired of playing and pushed her way into one of the rooms and took a nap. They let her stay because she wouldn’t come out...I guess she put herself in “time-out”!! 🤣🤣

Oh Hope....☹️
This poor girl has separation anxiety. Every time I leave I get to come home to something different. 😳 Sometimes she’s rearranged the couches and tables by running and jumping on them, sometimes she hides the plastic toilet caps (the bolt covers on the base) or takes the alphabet magnets OFF of the fridge, she plays with toilet paper, and even rearranges all of the throw rugs and pillows! Yesterday she chewed the side of the coffee table. 😳😳
Today it was an another entire roll of toilet paper..my fault, I forgot to shut the door.😕 So thankful that it hasn’t been the couch or down throw pillows yet...keep thinking I’ll come home to a house full of feathers!! 🤣🤣
We’ve tried kenneling her but she has destroyed two beds and has bent the sides up trying to get out. I leave chew bones and Kong’s toys around when we leave too. Think I might try some CBD oil next...fingers crossed!!

Well this girl is getting BIG!! I’m 5’7” and my head goes to the bottom of the top window. I’m getting used to all of her “paintings” (🤣🤣) on the windows...I just hope she doesn’t go through one of them!! I love that her tail is wagging so fast you can’t see it!

Hope got spayed today!

She was SO happy to see us when we picked her up. Her tail was spinning and she started whining when she saw us. 🥰 There’s no telling what was going through her mind...she probably thought she’d never see us again. I don’t know who was more happy to see each other, her or us! 💓
The only problem we had was her blood work. Her kidney numbers were a little high so she’ll need to have more blood work done in two weeks. The vet’s main concern is that we don’t know her history...was she denied water or went without finding water (?)....either could of damaged her kidneys. 😞
If you have a minute please say a little prayer for her that she recovers quickly with no pain, and that her blood work comes back normal. After all she’s been through we just want her to be healthy and live a long life. 💜🐾
