What an absolutely incredible Sunday it has been so far! Our free-flight parakeets are finally warming up to us, eating from our hands and we have eggs!!! We're over the moon as several pink Sakuras and red ghost have berried up; And the excitement doesn't stop there! We're thrilled to announce that some of the pink Sakuras and orange ghosts have hatched out and will be making their way to our website very soon.

Took a bit longer than I prefer but better late that never. Ive waitied years to get my hands on some pink p clarkii and to breed them and now i have done both. Pink p clarkii barrried up and my white specter/tri color hybrid eggs hatching out. I will update when I have some babies available.

It's a selective breeding kind of day. I have 20+ p clarkii crayfish that are going to be bred over the next couple days. Had 5 mate this afternoon already. Crosses include blue ghost to tri color, blue ghost to orange ghost, blue ghost to white specter, tri color to orange ghost, and multiple other variations. Cant wait to see what comes of these.

It's been a great couple days at Booboo's Aquatics. We paired up 3 axolotl spawns and babies started hatching out beginning of the week. 1 of the pairs is a lucy to lucy spawn so should finally have a good amount of them available this spring. We had 2 peacock spawns. 1 blue dragon blood to ob spawn and the other being ob peacock to ob peacock. Lastly we had 2 blue tilapia spawns. The last 1 being a very large spawn roughly 800 to 1200 eggs.

Pond stock day!!! The hatched babies went into 1 of the ponds today. The Pond is already very stocked and I've only had 6 girls drop out of the 22 berried up and I just found another 6 berried up so I think I'm gona have to stock the other 2 ponds as well. Typically I only get 5 to 10 berried up every month but I messed up and didn't count my inventory so ended up with alot more adults than normal so got lots of berried girls. I typically only have to stock the 1 pond with marbled crayfish and I get hundreds out of it every month but given I have so many berried girls this month I'm gona have to tap into the the other ponds as well. It actually works out well because a few months ago I accidently destroyed a rack system and lost 16 tanks containing majority of my other species breeder crabs so haven't had many other babies so the other 2 ponds have been siting empty.

I decided to go through 1 of my ponds to get a crayfish count. To my surprise some of my girls are berrid up. Pulled out 22 to be exact. These guys are only about an inch,inch in a half which is alot smaller than they typically are when they are berried up so didn't expect to find any berried up. Typically I get 3 to 4 berried up a month so definitely gona have my hands full next month.

Betta hybrid update- I couldn't get a photo of the wiggles because the father is very protective and will eat the babies but the babies are now free swimming and I can pull the father. There's easily 200-300 babies!!!

Hybrid betta update: Took a bit longer than I predicted but I finally have a spawn. The originally 3 girls I had planned, despite appearing gravid were not ready as they didn't spawn. I ended up picking this lady because she is most gravid female and knew she would spawn up for sure. This is her 3rd spawn from her. She is 1 of my what I call my default girls. Every time she is with a male I have eggs within 24 hours. She is a hmpk female from a koi line i scratched last year when I canceled my breeding projects.. They have been together less than 12 hours and I have a good amount already. I counted a little less than 50 (the eggs are in the black circle) I'm sure there is more under the bubble nest which is under the bubble wrap. I wasn't going to go poking around with it tho because hybrid males are very skittish and eat the eggs second I bother them typically I won't even try to take a photo so I don't stress them out. I chanced it this time mostly because they are still going at it so know he will be just fine. U can see them in the top giving me the skank eye lol. Mama is top left the pinkish 1 the father is top right blue 1. I was a little worried about this spawn didn't think he could wrap her because she is good half inch bigger than him but my boys never fail to disappoint me.

Betta hybrid update: I've gone and removed the girls. It's crazy how much bettas can change over night. It's very common for bettas with the marbled gene to change colors when stressed which is why shipping can be difficult. My first male was only blue and red just a few days ago but as of today almost his entire bottom fin is orange lol. Instead of breeding all my hybrids back to hybrids I decided to take 1 of my pairings a step further and out breed it to a white and black dragon scale female. This was my original plan with the hybrids but I since dropped the idea after she was beaten up by the male my first attempt. She is showing much interest in my male this time so fingers crossed second times the charm. I put her in with a more docile male this time so I think they will be just fine I did end up puting in a spawn mop in the 1 corner after filming just to be absolutely safe. This way if she gets to stressed or he becomes more aggressive she has a place to hide. I probably won't have a video on them physically spawning because I messed up and am breeding them in bins this time so it's a bit harder to film I will update again once I have eggs.

About a year ago I decided to stop breeding bettas to expand my crayfish breeding facility so it's been about a year since I've done any real breeding. Problem with breeding betta fish is once they reach sexual maturity the males will begin to fight and kill each other so you have to pull them and put them each in their own jar. You then change the jars water every day to keep the fish healthy. At 1 point I had over 500 bettas and daily water changes were geting very time consuming was spending 2 to 3 hours every day just doing betta water changes. So I decided to cut back only breeding as it was very time consuming and the crayfish were much easier and more profitable. I have decided I'm going to take another shot at it. As of now I have set up 3 spawns these guys are my hybrid bettas. They are imbelis betta/half moon plakat. I have been working on perfecting a hybrid line for a while now to no prevail real choppy fish. Poor colors and bad finnage. The last spawn turned out absolutely stunning some of the best looking bettas I've created,, great finnage and beautiful bright colors. 2 of these guys look almost identical to imbelis bettas but have the marble gene so have flakes of yellow and orange through out their bodies.I'm going to raise these babies differently this time and raise them out of 1 of my ponds like they do in Thailand. They will have more room to roam so should cut back on aggression allowing them to stay in the pond longer so I will have less jars. I will post another update in a few days once the girls have released eggs and babies have begun to hatch

Axolotl hatchout- Should have a good variety this up coming spring. Lots of wilds this year, good amount of Mel's, few that are looking copper, and some Lucy's. I finally have some GFPs as well. I will post updates once they are fully legged and ready to go.

My baby axolotls have started hatching out. Lots of Babies this time around. I've yet to raise any in the ponds I think I'm gona have to put some in one see if the development is better than bins. This batch is my GFP copper female to my my wild Starburst male so may actually have some GFPs available this spring.
