11 yo FS Yorkshire Terrier presented with urinary issues - frequency and straining.

Findings:

UROGENITAL: There is a multilobulated mildly heterogenous and broad-based mass seen associated with the neck and urinary bladder, and expected location of the trigone. This mass measures approximately 8.1 mm additional abnormalities of the urinary bladder are not identified.
ADRENALS: The caudal pole of the left adrenal gland measures 8.1 mm in thickness. The right adrenal gland measures 7.3 mm in thickness at the caudal pole.

CONCLUSIONS:
1. Mass lesion within the urinary bladder at the level of the trigone. This is highly concerning for neoplasia such as urothelial/transitional cell carcinoma. BRAF testing could be performed for screening purposes, however biopsy would be needed for definitive diagnosis.
2. Bilateral adrenomegaly. Pituitary dependent Cushing’s syndrome is likely. If not already performed, a low-dose dexamethasone suppression test would be suggested.

One year old, spayed female GSHP presented with possibly having eaten something from the garbage 2 days prior.
Some lethargy, inappetence and unproductive retching, but did vomit some blood tinged bile.

FINDINGS:

GASTROINTESTINAL: There is a long linear echogenic and distally shadowing focus seen extending from the gastric wall into the peritoneal space that measures approximately 10.5 cm in length. The stomach contains a moderate amount of echogenic ingesta/fluid. The small bowel is normal in appearance and contents without evidence of segmental dilation.

CONCLUSIONS:
Gastric foreign object (possibly a wood skewer/kebab or similar object) with evidence of perforation of the gastric wall and extension into the peritoneal space resulting in septic peritonitis. Exploratory surgery and removal is indicated.

Foreign body: A kebab skewer! (See last image).
Happy to report she was back to normal the day after surgery.

15 month old MN, feline (Domestic Longhair) presenting with reduced appetite and vomiting.

Findings:
- The stomach is distended with anechoic fluid. Stomach wall is unremarkable.
- The duodenum is distended with anechoic fluid. There is altered wall layering noted in the duodenum, though the duodenum is normal in size measuring approximately 0.25 cm in thickness.
- Multiple jejunal segments are also distended with anechoic fluid though normal in size. In the mid jejunum, there is a circular anechoic structure that has a hyperechoic rim noted in one of the jejunal segments causing significant luminal expansion.

Conclusions:
Small intestinal obstructive foreign body. Surgical exploration could be considered at this time.

Foreign body: A little, yellow, spiky toy ball (see last picture!)

7.5 yo, MN, chihuahua presented with a painful, tense caudal abdomen; sticking bum up in air, unable to get comfortable, not eating. Radiographs were done – showed enlarged prostate with internal calcifications.

Ultrasound Findings:
UROGENITAL: The urinary bladder wall has a normal thickness. The urinary bladder contains a small volume of echogenic sediment. A minuscule 2 mm calculus is also present within the urinary bladder. The prostate is mildly to moderately enlarged and heterogenous with multiple pinpoint calcifications.

Conclusions:
1. Enlarged mineralized prostate. This is most consistent with neoplasia such as adenocarcinoma. BRAF testing could be considered for screening purposes prior to pursuing a biopsy.
2. Sediment within the urinary bladder as well as a minuscule cystic calculus. This could represent a small volume of hemorrhage, crystals, casts, or proteinaceous debris.
3. Otherwise unremarkable abdomen, without evidence of metastatic disease.

BRAF testing was conducted and the results were positive for transitional cell carcinoma.
