Thunder update
Thunder was adopted not too long ago and she is loving her forever home!
For those who don’t know her, she came to us with her sister, Lightning. Lightning was scared, but social/friendly. Thunder on the other hand, lived up to her name. She was terrifying. I thought she would bite one of us at some point. I wasn’t sure if she would ever be adoptable. The two of us eventually learned to trust each other. After I felt like she was ready, she was moved to the Pawsitive Cafe where she was quickly adopted to the purrfect home.
To go from an angry/scary cat to a blanket suckling baby is an incredible turn around. We are so happy for her!
Cyrus
We are slowly gaining his trust. This is the first time he has purred for me 😻.
Richard Update
We have some good news to share! We introduced Richard a few weeks ago but in case you missed it, this is his background:
One of our fosters said he was in her yard and she was able to catch him and bring him to the vet. He was very beat up but seemed ok overall.
The vet said he has a lot of scarring - possibly from ear mites. It looks like he was scratching behind his ears for a long time. The scarring will most likely cause his fur not to grow in those spots. His ears are also messed up - possibly from the ear mites as well. He might also have flea allergy dermatitis and/or skin allergies. Richard had some bite wounds as well but thankfully, his combo test was negative. We will retest in another few weeks to ensure he is FIV/FeLV negative.
The doctor also noted that he had a 3/6 grade heart murmur and estimated him to be about 8-10 years old. Richard barely has any teeth but that does not stop him from chowing down food. He is a hot mess and it’s a miracle that he survived outside for so long. We are so glad we can help him.
Richard received his second FVRCP vaccine yesterday and we asked the doctor to listen to his heart again and she was not able to hear his heart murmur! Also, his wounds are healing well and the scarring is slowly healing in some places.
Richard will probably look “rough” for the rest of his life but he is the happiest boy! He is constantly bashing his head against us and begs for attention.
He is now available for adoption. If you are interested in adopting him, apply below:

Michael is Feeling Good
Today was a big deal for our little Michael. He has a high-grade heart murmur and getting him neutered was nerve wracking.
We reached out to several hospitals to learn about their anesthetic protocols and to get quotes on his procedure. It became clear that this was going to be very expensive.
RCAC reached out and offered a lower-cost solution. The problem with using RCAC is if anything went wrong, they are very limited in medications and equipment to stabilize a patient that is this high-risk. This option would save us over a thousand dollars and we ultimately decided to go with RCAC. We use this vet for almost all vetting and we know she is a good surgeon and so we proceeded.
Everything went smoothly! Michael was feeling great after his “nap.” He was very affectionate post-op 🤣
Thank you to everyone at RCAC for keeping him safe 💜
You can meet Michael anytime (within business hours) because he is now the resident kitty at The Friendly Feline Cat Cafe 😸
