A sighting was posted on Facebook Friday October, 29 of a small whitish/tan dog running on the Sunken Meadow Parkway on the Northbound side at Harned Road exit, running south along the grass. The trappers set up feeding stations and cameras, no sign of him.
The tracker confirmed that the scent was Dougal’s on Tuesday, November 2.
Please pray to bring our boy home safe to his loving family.
As always please take a photo if seen. Please call 516-380-2712 right away and try to keep him in sight. Do Not Chase.

Another potential sighting on the Sagtikos Parkway 1 mile south of exit S3 in the left lane of traffic - going northbound walking along the shoulder between the divider and the cars.
We have a team of trappers and also a professional pet tracker working on the safe return of Dougal - we need your help with sightings - and photos if possible.

This dog was found in the Port Jeff area this afternoon. We were contacted and his picture sent to us thinking he could possibly be Dougal. Unfortunately it’s not our Dougal boy but someone has to be missing this guy. We know all too well how that feels. He is microchipped but the chip isn’t registered. If this is your dog or you know who he belongs to, please contact the Yaphank Shelter. He is safe and being held there until a rightful owner is located. Thank you Long Island. 🐾🐾

This picture was taken on June 13th. The day that Dougal came into rescue. This is what he looked like before he was groomed. It’s very likely what he looks like now since he’s been missing for 40 days. He’s likely dirty.
Anyone in Commack (specifically the areas that we have had confirmed sightings)who has home security cameras or the Ring doorbell camera, please look to see if there’s any footage of him. There was a confirmed sighting of Dougal last night on Bread and Cheese Hollow Road in the Northport area.
I greatly appreciate the help of the community and all involved in finding this boy.

*We don’t anticipate that Dougal will look exactly like his photos at this point. He’s been missing for 30 days now. His hair is extremely curly. So he’s probably starting to mat and we suspect he’s most likely dirty.

Dougal has been missing now for 25 days in Commack NY. The next few days are supposed to be really bad weather days in the Long Island area. Lots of rain and storms coming from hurricane Ida. After which the Labor Day fireworks start.😞
PLEASE be on the lookout for this wheaten Scottie. He’s still just a baby and he’s lost. I strongly believe in the power of unity in positive thoughts and prayer. Please say a prayer anytime you think about him that he will find his way to safety and ultimately be reunited with his family. They are hurting and super stressed and we can only imagine that Dougal is getting stressed too.
Positive thoughts, prayers, good vibes, love and light are all welcome. If you meditate, in your meditation ask that he find the courage to go home or to someone he feels safe that can help him. He is microchipped. He had on a tartan plaid collar when he went missing.
We welcome any good juju that you can send.

Tracking pattern from Professional Pet Trackers since Dougal has been missing.
First track in red. Started at Kathleen’s house and ended at Marshmallow Drive. Second track is in yellow after a reported and scent confirmed sighting. Traveling parallel to Marshmallow Drive ended in the sump/water tower area between Clay Pitts Road and Cedar Road, Commack NY.
He is now very close to home. Last confirmed sighting is in pink. One mile from home on Somers Lane, Commack NY. We seriously think that he is hiding in the sump drain tunnels, staying within a 4 1/2 mile radius of his house.
With Labor Day fast approaching and fireworks getting ready to start, PLEASE be on the lookout for Dougal in or around these areas. Very likely close to a sump drain.

Notice the water soaking the rug around the blue Yeti dish. Resident Scotties, Bogie& Jagger don’t play in the water like this. All signs are pointing towards Dougal being in the sump drain tunnels in Commack NY. Please keep an eye out in the areas of the sump drains and water towers.

Dougal running with Jagger in July while in foster care with Scottish Terrier Rescue of the Southeast. He is a very high energy dog. Not even 2 years old yet. You can see in the video that his running patterns are all over the place. Similar to the tracking pattern picked up by the tracking dogs. We strongly feel that he has been denning up in the sump tunnels. He is drawn to water and that would also explain the sporadic sightings. He’s having to venture out for food. But has the safety and water supply in the drain tunnels.

STRSE Alumni, Dougal’s family are beside themselves frantically trying to locate this boy. He was last seen by his mom on August 7 2021 on Cowie Road in Commack NY. He is microchipped. All of our rescue dogs chips are registered to their families and our rescue as a secondary guardian.
Over 500 Flyers have been put up all over the community. 5500 automated calls have been pushed out by lostmydoggie.com. The shelters, Animal Control, and local police have been notified and his family and volunteers are still searching the areas where he has been seen. We have also notified the microchip carrier that he has been lost. Let’s spread the word via social media and get this sweet boy home where he belongs. Please don’t chase him.

On 8-11-2021 we had K9 pet tracker Kelly Brach of Professional Pet Tracker out with her search dogs. Canine Maggie picked up Dougal’s scent from his home and followed it to a location around Marshmallow Drive and another location on 8-17-2021 between Clay Pitts Road and Cedar Road in Commack NY.
He was also seen on 25A near Fort Salonga Long Island NY on August 20th. It looks as if he is staying within a 4 1/2 mile radius of home.
