So most people know about nail trimmers and nail dremels for dogs, but I have found that their nails can still have sharp edges. Dora is on day 2 of leash walking. Look at how attentive she is to Grace.

Dakota didn’t love the leash on day 1 so we took it back a few steps. We used gentle leash pressure. As soon as she would move towards the pressure. We click and give her a treat. She did amazing. We will do this for another day or two and then try it while moving. Today I just sat on a bench with her in front of me. No video because I only have two hands. 🤷‍♀️

Our puppies are litter tray trained. To make house training even easier, these small potty pad holders can be placed near the door and/or in the X pen for a dedicated place for the puppy to go in the house if they don't make it outside. Since most of our 2024 litter have gone home, we wanted to showcase some of our favorite puppy raising and training products. First off, we have an Exercise Pen or commonly called an X Pen. These come in a varitey of heights. For labs, we usually plan on a 30 inch height so they can be used when they are adults. We like to have two. One for an outside safe space and one for an inside safe space where they cannot get into anything you don't want them to. You can connect them to your crate or place the crate inside and they can be helpful for crate training. Get one with a gate so that you can walk in and out with them. Our whelping pen is two X pens hooked togehter. They are super vesatile. The lightweight folding ones can be taken just about anywhere. We have started with clicker training. We charged the clicker yesterday and today they all offered us sit. It’s truly amazing how quickly they learn and how eager they are to learn.

Man I missed the puppies while I was gone to camp. They change so fast. It’s hard to believe they start going home this week. We have two females on the hunt for their perfect homes. We have had to say no to a couple of people this time because it wasn’t going to be a good fit. We’d rather wait for the right family even if it means keeping a puppy a little longer.

Trying something new this week for a clean potty spot for the puppies. It’s just too hot outside in the afternoons for them. This is a Brilliant Pad that we can move the potty paper remotely as the puppies go on it. Hoping this makes Ben’s life easier while the kids and I are gone to camps this week. I guess it’s his Father’s Day gift. 🎁 🤣

Just a few pics from the last couple of evenings. Puppies are pretty much weaned. Blackberry still lays with them but almost no one nurses. They just nap together. They are dining outside now and getting used to all the different sounds and smells.

Several months ago we switched to Next Level dog food. We are so impressed with how our big dogs have been doing on it, but my mind has been blown on how wonderful Blackberry's puppies are doing on it. Their stools are well formed and solid. The smell is minimal. Their coats are shining. They will ship to you for free. We are doing subscription shipping. It's fast and reliable. It's also available locally to us at Bumgardners. It’s nap time with mamma! Blackberry is doing such a wonderful job with her puppies. They are close to being weaned but she still likes to nap with them. We will be doing another change up on their accommodations this weekend.

Tonight the puppies enjoyed a lot of extra snuggles, nail trims, deworming, a little stroll outside, and their evening mush. They are starting to play with one another and getting around really well. This weekend we will switch up their whelping area to make it a little larger and add a potty area. I can’t believe it, but they already fill up the wagon.

Well I finally got a chance to edit my pics with the puppies so you can see who is who. We are now updating collars on the bigger puppies to a larger size but we are keeping their original colors. And I had to include a picture that Will took while he was holding his favorite puppy.
