What an incredible weekend at the Gold Coast Horse Show!🎉 We're so proud of our hard-working riders!

Here's a recap of our team's successes:

Andrea Deyoung and This Scene is Taken took home all the firsts in Youth/Am Walk/Trot Trail, Walk/T Trail Open, Youth/Am Walk/Trot Horsemanship, and Youth/Am Walk/Trot Pleasure!

Maia Landon and Would He Be The Best earned a pair of well-deserved second place finishes in Youth/Am W/T Pleasure.

Grace Balsamo-Gillis and Cromed N Chocolate swept their classes, taking home firsts in W/T Reining, Ranch Rail, and Ranch Riding!

Marnye Langer dominated the Ranch events, competing in 11 classes! On Pabst Blue Ribbon she placed first in her ranch rail, ranch riding, and ranch trail classes. With Legis Air, she continued her success, earning multiple top-three finishes.

Congratulations to everyone who rode! We can’t wait until the next show.

Karen Enderson and her homebred filly Zipped On Too Many made the trip to Las Vegas for the Zone Two and POR Show with 🎰🏆 
 
Karen and her filly finished in the top dive in the Amateur in Hand Trail and top five in the Open in Hand Trail with Stacie Wight. They also had top placings in Tobiano Color and Halter.

⭐️Member Spotlight: Jennifer Lyn Mathews⭐️

🔵 Name of your horse (barn name or registered):

My Mare is Legacys Gotta Chance or "Honey" is her barn name.
My Gelding is Hank

🔵 How long have you had your horse?

Honey is an APHA who came into my life two years ago after I had to put my project Gelding down from too much damage from old injuries. My 28 year old AQHA cutting horse passed soon after.

Hank came to me this Fall. He was a ranch horse in Montana and then a trail horse. He injured his leg, but wasn't treated so I'm rehabbing him.

🔵Can you share the story of how your love for horses began and what drew you to become a part of Pacific Northwest Ranch Horse Association?

I started riding with my Mother when I was six. Been riding ever since. I worked for large facilities as a stall cleaner, groom, assistant trainer and even worked for a large animal vet who bred Thoroughbreds for the track for a stint. I finally have my own property. A 10 acre ranch called Big Rock Horse Ranch, LLC. I'm working to build up my own AQHA and APHA breeding facility here on Vashon Island.

🔵 What is your favourite ranch class and why?

I don't think I have a favorite. Honey has had a good career in CA this last season before she was bred. She's gonna be a good mama to some excellent ranch horses.

🔵 What are your goals for this year with your horse (showing, training, personal growth or otherwise)?

Honey is bred to Boon Too Suen an expecting her foal in March so we're taking the season off. Expect to see us in a few years with the baby though 😉

🔵 Can you share a memorable experience or a special moment you've had with a horse that has left a lasting impact on you?

Cowboy has got to be my most memorable. I purchased him from a friend after he bucked her trainer and bucked another woman riding breaking her pelvis in three places. He was as sweet as can be, but would explode without warning. I took him on as a project... long story short, he was so damaged from his past life that his pain was unbearable. He was trying to be good, but exploded when he couldn't take it anymore. I wrote a blog series about it to help others learn that some horses act out because of pain.

🔵 Tell us a fun fact about your horse

Honey is not only beautiful, but easy going and lives to perform. I'm hoping this great personality comes through in her offspring.
