To our incredible Bark at the Moon family-
We cannot thank you enough for the phenomenal month we've had since returning from vacation. You've kept us so busy and we are so, so deeply grateful. Now it is time to recharge and relax for a bit!
Bark at the Moon will be closed for business from Friday, May 3 at 8pm - Monday, May 6 at 8am. All booking requests will be answered upon reopening on Monday, May 6.
We are looking forward to a busy and successful summer (finally, we can say "summer") ahead! Get those vacation bookings in while you can!
We are always accepting new training clients, and if you're interested in refining your pup's skills or working on a specific issue, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to help.

Here it is! Our officially official out of office announcement!
We will be closing at 3pm on Thursday, March 21 through Wednesday, March 27, resuming business on Thursday, March 28. We will not have access to communication for that time, so please reach out this week and next for bookings beyond March 28 (if you haven't already!).
We thank you for understanding our need to take time away to recharge and look forward to gearing up for a packed and busy spring season!

I've been seeing so many new faces around (hello, friends!) so I figured it was time to share one of the most important aspects of Bark at the Moon: our expansive service area!
Since 2021, Bark at the Moon has proudly served the following towns in Eastern Monmouth County: Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach, Avon-by-the-Sea, Belmar, Lake Como, West Belmar, Wall Township, Neptune Township, Neptune City, Shark River Hills, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, Sea Girt, Brielle, Manasquan, Deal, Interlaken, Loch Arbour, Allenhurst, Ocean Township, Oakhurst, Wanamassa
If you see your town listed, we're happy to come to you! Years of walking and driving these neighborhoods have made us innately familiar with the ins and outs of these communities. Because we haven't had to jump to expand our service area in order to reach these corners of the county, we are your top choice for training, walks and vacation care.

Hey everyone! Figured I was a little overdue for a full check-in, so here we are! This is a bit of a long one, so get that pot of coffee going!
Firstly, I want to extend my deepest gratitude toward each and every one of you for your compassion and understanding while my husband endured his brain surgeries and recovery. I can't begin to express how truly petrified I was to have to pull back... and hope that y'all are still willing to stick around. In this business, we devote so much of our time to you - so to ask for it back is really scary and risky. We asked for flexibility and grace and you gave that to us tenfold. So, thank you a million times over.
Secondly, as my husband looks toward the next stage of healing and beyond, he will also slowly be getting back to work. Some of you may have even seen him pop in for a celebrity guest appearance! My availability is still as much as I am able to give that day or week but once it starts to open up more as Chaz gets back to "normal," I'll keep you all apprised of that. I encourage you all to still book as you usually would - thanks to the generosity of my peers and dear friends, I am able to find coverage for some of your visits.
Thirdly, let's talk training! Now is the perfect time to enroll your puppy or dog in school. We cover basic manners and polite leash walking for puppies (essentially, giving them the start they need to be successful in the world!), as well as addressing mild behavior issues with older dogs and basic manners. We will not work with human aggressive dogs and have the ability to refer out should you reach out with those issues and concerns in mind. DM me and let's talk!
Fourthly? Fourthly! Is that a word? Sure! Our friends were generous enough to put on a benefit for us at Salty's in Lake Como. That'll be on Sunday, March 10 at 3pm. Five fantastic bands and a dope DJ will be at the helm. The intent is to help raise money for Chaz's medical bills, which are slowly trickling in and mounting. It'll be a really fun time and if you feel compelled, it would be lovely to see you all!
And finally (that's a word!), we will be jetting away for a previously planned and rescheduled vacation from Friday, March 22-Tuesday, March 26. Standing clients, I'll reach out to you to discuss coverage.
If you made it this far, I commend you. It goes without saying that we deeply appreciate you and can't express how loved we feel and how grateful we are for each and every one of you as we navigated this uncharted and truly terrifying territory. From the bottom of my heart... THANK YOU. 🖤

Hi everyone – I unfortunately have some not so great news to share. On Monday evening my husband Chaz was hospitalized due to suffering a seizure, which we have now learned was a result of a tumor in his brain. Chaz must undergo surgery tomorrow to remove the tumor, and we are hopeful that the recovery process will have him back to work and on his feet soon. Unfortunately, NJ law states that any person who experiences a seizure is not permitted to drive for six months.
We kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this difficult time as we try to navigate our current situation. I will still continue to provide services for all of our clients but will be substituting some visits with trusted people I’ve personally vetted to work in both of our places. For the time being I will have to adjust the normally scheduled visit times to accommodate all of our clients.
We appreciate your understanding.

There are some moments I experience in this field that take my breath away. Receiving this beautiful photo album of Rocco’s most special moments was one of them.
Rocco was my pal long before Bark at the Moon existed - and I was lucky enough to live a few blocks away from him, too! He was an older rescue bulldog who was very much himself - the sweetest guy, but wildly unimpressed. He loved bananas and farting on me. I once read a story to him on Christmas and he fell asleep, loudly snoring and tooting - sheer perfection.
I’m sure many of you recall the videos I’ve shared of Rocco bumping the back door open with his big noggin, completely over being outside and ready to eat dinner. Can’t say I blame the guy.
Rocco left this earth toward the end of the summer, and he left a massive hole in the hearts of all who knew him. He was very much a “once in a lifetime” dog. You don’t come across those often, but when you do, they leave an eternal impact on your soul.
As I paged through Rocco’s photos, I started sobbing - not only because I miss him and our dinner dates so deeply, but because there are times I don’t realize how impactful this line of work is. Working with dogs (and cats) isn’t just a really cute and easy job. Sure, it has many of those moments- but it takes compassion, education, love, and patience. It takes dedication, it takes knowing each pet has a place in your heart and takes a piece with you when they go. But you sign up for this knowing these days will come. And by doing all this, you allow us into your lives - it becomes a very personal experience and I knew when I started this business, I wanted to approach it as more than “just a dog walker” or “just a dog trainer.”
& - thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing Rocco with us all these years. We will love him forever, and will forever cherish this book and every single moment we had with your sweetest and most special boy. 🐾🍌🤍

Wow! I can’t believe we’re already past Thanksgiving and staring down the last month of 2023. Without sounding stodgy, where did this year go?!
We are so excited to take on the hectic holiday season with each of you and thank those who have already booked us for December. It’s shaping up to be a great month!
I did want to pause and remind everyone of Bark at the Moon’s booking and cancellation policies. With scheduling getting tighter and availability becoming limited, I do have to continue to enforce the below policies in order to not only be fair to myself, but to all of my clients.
DOG WALKS/CAT CARE/SMALL ANIMAL CARE: This refers to your basic, every day care: if notified two full days or less of cancellation, a $20 cancellation fee per visit cancelled will be assessed.
VACATION CARE: if you have booked vacation care, and need to cancel some of the visits, notification of two full days or less prior to the start of services, regardless of when these visits are, will incur a $20 cancellation fee per visit.
DOG TRAINING: Part of successful dog training is consistency. We understand emergencies happen but it is crucial to be aware of your schedule when booking. If notified two full days or less, a 50% cancellation fee is due.
VACATION CARE BOOKING: A 30% nonrefundable deposit is due upon booking, ensuring your spots are secured. If the booking is cancelled 3 weeks or less prior to the start of services, an additional 20% will be due as the cancellation fee.
OVERNIGHTS: These are rare and hardly offered but if they are, a 30% nonrefundable deposit will be due upon booking. A 25% cancellation fee will be collected, regardless of notice given.
As anyone who has worked with appointment-based businesses knows, our time is so, so important and unexpected losses cannot always be recouped. This policy allows us to continue providing top-level service to you and your family, while also “keeping our lights on.”

Where does the time go?
Two years ago, I did two things: I got my nose pierced for the first time and since that wasn’t enough excitement for one day, I formed Bark at the Moon, LLC. In these two years, BATM has grown beyond my wildest expectations. I’m still growing and learning every single day, but it’s with your endless support, love and trust that I am able to do what I love. Some days are really hard, others easy and effortless, but each moment I spend working with your dogs and cats (and other pals) teaches me how important it is to show up for yourself and for others. I also have to mention how humbling it is to be a referral and recommendation only business. This community did that! That means YOU.
It’s my deepest honor to continue to serve you, the ever-expanding and incredible Bark at the Moon family.

I’ve always preached that community is everything - but what does it really mean? With how hectic life is, how we’re all trying to get through the day - to be able to gather support while we’re all so busy… well, it means the world.
