Bear
This is bear! He is one of the many dogs at the rescue I volunteer at that I have the privilege of working with!
He is a young golden retriever mix who is extremely intelligent, affectionate, and really just wants to please his human! I’ve worked with many dogs and have a large sample size. If I could take this dog, I would do it in a heartbeat!
If anyone is interested in adopting bear, please contact the Yankee golden retriever rescue in Marlborough mass. If you do adopt bear, I would be more than happy to offer a discount on training!
Just wanted to take a minute to brag on one of my virtual clients in Canada - Tyler Maclean reached out to me about a year ago - he had two huskies and know idea how to work with them - we have been working together virtually and he’s been absolutely CRUSHING it!! He is putting in the work!! This stuff takes time but with clear guidance and a solid foundation you can have dogs as solid as Rocky and Luna too - you just need to work like Tyler!! Nice job buddy!! 🐾🤘🏽🐾
Eldred
Eldred is one of the dogs I have been working with at the rescue I volunteer at!!! Hes pretty awesome!!! Clearly!!
Recall work with Kaiser
Beautiful day to do some long-line (100') recall work with the little man!!
He's turning into a fantastic dog!!!
Kaiser’s first day with the touch pad. within :5 he was already doing full 360’s!!! He’s fun to train with!!
Teaching one of my clients dogs to lay on top of her after a panic attack to comfort her. Using lots of food and marker word. Will eventually fade the food out. Also working on this from the seated position in a chair. Fun stuff!😊🐾😊
Just some engagement work with the puppy! Flirt poles are fantastic ways to engage with your dog! Working on his “out/drop it” command and slowly incorporating basic obedience. Right now he really only knows sit, and we are working on down and place and stand that will be eventually incorporated into our play sessions which are always training in disguise!! 🐾😊
Do you like to take your dog out in public or on hikes but afraid to take them off leash?? If youre interested in making your dogs world MUCH bigger - consider using an e-collar for off leash freedom with a saftey back up built in! For me, I will never own dogs that are not e-collar trained, they mean WAY too much to me to risk their lives. I do not use e-collars to punish/correct dogs for bad behavoirs, I use them for off-leash freedom (recall) period.. If this is something you would like to know more about or want to do - please reach out with any questions, happy to explain the process - which takes about 3 weeks
(3 sessions). 🐾
Make training part of your day - if you don't want to be a dog trainer - learn how to train in disguise! This is Kobi learning to stay on place while life hapens. As you can see - he's not that great at it yet when I ad distractions. This is part of the process. Not worried, he will get there! Every time he gets off the cot, I walk over and guide him back on. When he stays where he is supposed to be Il occasionally walk by and pay him with a treat calmly. Get creative!!
Some basic shaping and luring with Aria the puppy. Short little sessions like this will tire out your dog/puppy 100X faster then just letting it run around like a fool!! Work the brain!!!! Mental stimulation is so often overlooked for physyical exercise - which is also important , but THIS is where its at!!
Little place work with the 16 wk old springer doodle!! Started yesterday - she’s catching on nicely- as we build up this distance and duration we will start to add the distractions! She’s a hoot!!
Fun session this afternoon with Kerry Parker and her girls Samantha and Tabitha - Both dogs are Anatolian mixes that live on her farm and are there to fight off any coyotees that come near the other animals on the property! Real working dogs! I worked with Kerry and Tabitha last year when she got Tabirha (who is HUGE now) ! Kerry reached out for a little help with Samantha's recall as she needs her to come when called ev3ry, single, time. Today we worked with short leashes and graduated to the 100' leash in no time and Samantha and Kerry both did great!! With MANY reps and Kerry staying consistant and foillowing through, Sam's recall will be solid in no time! Heres a short clip of todays session!!
Meet Ellie - she’s an absolute bullet!!! She would jump out of plane for this ball!!! Starting to teach her to “back-up” to be able to give commands at a distance!!
She’s clearly SUPER motivated! 😂
When the weather won’t compromise there are plenty of ways to exercise your dogs mind and body! A flirt pole (basically a cat toy for dogs) Is an awesome alternative to stimulate your dog and all you need to do is basically stand there and throw out commands! Obviously your dog must have a solid “out” command!!
This is awesome training exercise for impulse control and teaches your dog to take commands in a VERY high state of mind!! Awesome for real world scenarios!!
Working with Shepard’s is always super fun!! Especially well trained ones!! Meet Ziva!! I did not personally train this dog but hv been boarding and training with her all wk to keep her on point for her owner who is on vacation! We started the e-collar conditioning work and layered it ontop of commands she already knows at super low levels!! Using e-collars the right way is something I’m very passionate about. This conditionng work is done for a few wks before it’s ever used for any type of correction. The best part about ecollar conditioning is by the time you’re done - you’re never really using it to correct behaviors because they’re just not there ad if you do need to , it’s very fair to the dog because they know what it is and how to turn it off.
E- Collars a great for Off-leash freedom and 100% bullet proof recall.
She had a blast!! 🐾
If you want to learn how to use them the right way hit me up for a consultation!!
About 6 months ago I was contacted by a client who was desperate for help and at her witts end with her 7 month old Husky, Blue. She told me her and the family were really considering rehoming Blue as things were spiraling out of control and they were not sure if they were the right fit for the dog or could handle him! We had a very LONG conversation and went through all the options that were realistic and best for the dog., I also wanted to see if these people were really up for the task at hand? Blue was going to need a real leader!! You see, it doesnt matter how much "love" you give your dog, cuddles and treats dont cut it, it needs "leadership" and if YOU dont change, niether will the dog, and things WILL get worse. My clients and her family have worked VERY hard with Blue and the dividens are paying off HUGE!! Here we are 6 months later and I had the chance to board Blue for the last 4 days while his family went to a wedding cross country, and all I can say is, WOW!! I am BLOWN away by how far this dog has come, which is really a true testament to all the work his owners have put in!! When I teach people how to handle and live with their own dogs I use the same system I use with my own personal dogs. Having Blue for the past 4 days was litterly like having a third dog here that I trained - but I didnt train Blue, his owners did!! Its not a big deal to most people, but things like this make it all worth it for me!!
To think this dog was almost re-homed is bananas, hes an abosolute gem!! Few pics and vids from our past four days!! 🐾
How to work on Impulse Control through healthy fun game of tug!! This is Ellie, one of my clients dogs (9 month old Shepard) that I had for the week end. In this video we are working on Ellie's obedience and impulse control. The idea here is to get the dog all fired up with the tug toy then throwing in some basic obedience commands. If you can get your dog to do this type of stuff when its just you and them playing, the chances of you getting your dogs attention back on you when it see's another dog/person or high level distratcion go WAY up!!! This is a GREAT way to work on all kinds of stuff through play and engagement! 🐾 Debi Tatnall
Folow up session this morning with Mitch Mitchell (Mike) and his dog Max. Mike and max have been doing great inside the house but still struggle a bit when passing other people and dogs. In the video you will seee what Max looked like when they got here and what he looked like after we introduced them to some new tools and gave Mike the power and knowledge so he can handle these situations with more conviction and how to make sure he's in control of all situations. This will help Max over time to learn that he has NO reason to lose his mind when dogs and people are near by because MIke his human always has his back!
Challenging but great session today with Calebe De Castro and his Belgian Malinois Megan! Megan was given to Calabe 3 months ago as her previous owner could not handle her (she is just under a year old). Calebe reached out to me to help with Megan because she has severe resource guarding issues and wont let anyone approach Calebe or the family members. She has fear aggression issues and thinks lashing out at people is what she is suppposed to do when they get near her humans. This is unacceptable and very dangerous. AfterI had Calebe put a muzzle on Megan and doing some conditioining work on the leash and walking she finally warmed up to me. She did not like me ONE bit when I arrived and would have certainly bitten me. without the muzzle we would have had a much more difficult time!! Once Megan was muzzled I was able to safely handle her on a leash. Once she realized I was no threat and here to help her, not hurt her she let her guard down and by the end of the session she was lickiing my face and allowing me to rub her belly!! She's a really sweet dog that just needs some work. Calebe and Megan did great, but there is still a LOT of work left to do and Calebe def has his hands full and work cut out for him. Calebe loves this dog to death and is committed to putting in the work that this dog and breed reqires. Im very hopeful that Megan will be able to overcome her fears of strangers and realize she has NO need to try and protect her humans as they are in charge and always have her back. Over time and with a lot more work Megan and Calebe can get a handle on this and give Megan the stress-free life she deserves! Great work by both!!!
Video: Before we shot the vid Megan would not drop the ball or sit. She would jump 5 ft in the air and try to snatch it out of Calebs hands very close to his face and head!! If you know anything about Malinois you understand this. Theye are EXTREMELY toy/ball driven and are the equvilant of a Ferrari in the dog sport world. These do
