After being on a cold streak the last few tracks, we were able to help find a deer this morning. The deer was shot late yesterday afternoon, and we decided to let him lay overnight after discussing the situation. The hunters did everything right and didn’t push the buck. Came in this morning, we went less than 200 yards and found him DOA.

1 for 2 Saturday and had a couple good training tracks for my pup that some youth hunters shot and allowed us to come get some practice. The first one was a shoulder shot with a bow, the dogs got him up around 400 yard mark but we couldn’t put the brakes on him. Second one was a friend’s son first deer. Shot was a touch forward and low. The deer was quartering away just a touch, entering near the front leg and out the brisket. They let it lay till dark and found him still alive, he got up but didn’t make it far. We gave it a few hours and helped them recover it, 130 yards DOA.

Got a call from a good friend of mine this morning. He found the bucks first bed, 150yds from hit site he didn’t want to push him due to being close to property lines. We pushed past the deer first bed about 200 more yds to find the deer DOA. I was surprised the deer didn’t bleed more to be honest, was back some but not a bad shot.
