I am currently booked for in-person sessions until the second weekend of March. I'll be doing a Stay & Train over Spring Break so I won't be taking any weekday appointments during that time either. Please reach out if you want to get on the schedule. As always, virtual sessions are still an option if you need help sooner!

Picture is of Paris, who you will hear more about tomorrow.

Anyone who has worked with me on loose leash walking knows how much I love a good bungee leash. I happened to come across this leash attachment the other day and wanted to share it here. It attaches to your own leash and then to the dog's harness, allowing you to have that same shock-absorption that is so nice in a bungee without purchasing a whole new leash if you just really love your leash and don't want to switch.

The JERK-EASE BUNGEE DOG LEASH EXTENSION fastens between your dog's leash and collar, dramatically reducing the strain on muscles and ligaments when your dog pulls or tugs. It works with any leash and collar (or harness), including retractable leashes, training collars, jogging tethers, bicycle a...

Proof that poodles (and their mixes) do, in fact, shed. We weren't finished brushing yet so this isn't all of it.

Poodles shed in the same way that people do. This is because they have hair, not fur, so it grows indefinitely and shreds like you and me. Fur, on the other hand, grows to a certain length and then falls out naturally.

The reason brushing is so important, aside from length, is because when the hair does shed out, it can easily get tangled in with the hair that's still attached and cause matting. With doodles, you never know what coat type you're going to get. A regular grooming schedule is vital to keeping the hair/fur healthy and mat-free.

Remember Ollie, the Aussie who was tied up and abandoned outside of Unleashed Pet Rescue about a month or so ago? Animal Control was made aware of him and when they went to pick him up, Ollie was so stressed and scared that he thrashed around wildly, knocking out several of his teeth in the process. Ollie ended up at where he received appropriate medical care and a much needed grooming. A little less than a month ago, he was adopted into a wonderful home, who is helping him to lose weight, overcome his trauma and just all around be the very best version of himself.

I had the pleasure today to meet both Ollie and his new owner to begin working through his human and dog reactivity. He is an exceptionally sweet boy who is very clearly attached and comfortable with his new owner, who is just as dedicated to him as he is to her.

Happy life, Ollie. I can't wait to continue helping you shine.

If you could only teach your dog one thing, what would it be?

Picture is of Daisy, adoptable through Melissa's Second Chances . Daisy was very stressed and scared in the shelter but went to a foster home yesterday where I'm sure she'll start to decompress and thrive! She's a very sweet girl, about 2 years old, who would love a home of her own that will love her until her last day.

I met so many amazing people and dogs today! One of these days I'll remember to take pictures of the dogs I'm working with but, in the meantime, here's a couple of mine.

We officially foster failed this kid 6 weeks ago. A week later he broke his leg (these tiny things are fragile 😳). This coming Friday marks 6 weeks since the splint went on and will be his fourth visit to the vet since. We are really hoping that the splint can come off for good at this next visit so please keep your fingers crossed for us! This boy is ready to start doing all of the dog things.

I'm pretty confused about how this dog is still available! I will groom him, free of charge, twice to whoever adopts and, as always, there is a discount on training sessions within your first 6 weeks of adoption.

On a very limited basis, I am offering stay and trains (board and trains but within the comfort of your own home!). Doing a classic board and train in this way has many benefits and nearly eliminates all of the issues commonly associated with B&Ts. Get the training that you need for your dog while you are on vacation and rest assured that they are safe and comfortable in their own home and their own bed. There is far less chance of weight loss and/or significant stress and the training will happen within your home, where it is most needed.

Each day you will receive video updates of your dog's training journey while you are gone. When you return home, we will schedule a follow up session with you and your dog to ensure that you are able to continue the work that was started while you were gone.

Cost is $140 per day. If you arrive home before noon on the last day or leave after 3 on the first day, that day will be discounted to $75. Pricing includes training for a single dog. If you need or desire training for other dogs in the home, the cost is $50 additional per extra dog. There is no extra cost for the care of additional animals in the home (i.e. if you have 3 total animals but only want training for one dog, it is still only $140 per day.)

Contact me today for more details or to book.
