We got Babies.
Lesser honey guide.
I leave comb out on the verandah after every removal to feed the pair of resident lesser honey guides.
SPOT THE MOTH- Heard a loud chirping sound while removing this colony out the ceiling.
DEATHS HEAD HAWK MOTHS have developed several strategies for infiltrating beehives undetected. Firstly, they are able to mimic the scent of honeybees using chemicals called pheromones. This scent allows them to approach the hive without being attacked by guard bees. The guard bees would otherwise recognize them as an intruder.
Once inside the hive, the moths typically head straight for the honey stores. Here, they feed on the honey using their long proboscis (tongue). They may also consume pollen and occasionally prey on bee larvae or pupae. However, bees have developed several defenses against these moth invaders.
One strategy is to gather around the moth in a ball and vibrate their wings to generate heat. This raises the temperature around the moth and makes it difficult for the moth to maneuver. It will then either overheat or suffocate. The bees may also physically attack the moth with their mandibles.
There was a huge cavity inside this tree, making the perfect home for the bees. Really angry colony, smoking the bees calmed them down only a bit. Have a look in the comments to see closeup what they were up to prior to removal.
From car tyre to new hive. Queen was caught and put into new hive and all the bees, smelling the queens pheromone walked in stortly after.
No wonder the bees were so upset! The corrugated roof had just been repaired, knocking all the comb off onto the ceiling. +-25 stings later the bees are now in their new hive🐝💪

New arrival. These bees were ethically removed after just being here for one day.
These bees decided to make their home way up there! 1 extension ladder, a chainsaw to cut an inspection hole and a bit of bravery is what was needed to get these ladies safely relocated.💪🐝🌲
We had a call from a customer saying there was a swarm of bees in their lemon tree. A catch box was put into the tree and the bees moved in straight away🐝😁
