Merry is living the merriest of lives! This sweet boy from the Lord of the Rings litter was a star at the Pop Cats Portland event and convinced his dad that he needed to add to the family. Now Basil, he is living with 3 other kitties and his canine sister. His dad shared: ”He refuses to believe any person or animal is not his best friend. He is so goofy, brave, and snuggly. He likes to curl up on shoulders and oversee all activities.”

Team Cozmo is hard at work continuing to help this almost 6 month old puppy build muscle strength in his deformed front legs. Dr. Shaw from Back on Track Veterinary Rehabilitation Center is giving him massage and electrode therapy to stimulate the muscles and nerves. Kristen Splash - Canine Hydrotherapy & Recovery, LLC is helping him build muscles through hydrotherapy at their new location in Vancouver, WA. His amazing foster Avri Sundell is taking him to all these appointments and giving him the at home care he needs. We are also getting this super puppy some special booties and a wheelchair so he can be as mobile as possible. He’s being tutored by the Queen of mobility training - Athena!

Turkey is a black kitten (with a spot of white on his chest) with a heart full of love and a purr to match. This sweet boy adores his humans and will happily curl up on you for nap time, soaking up all the cuddles he can get. When he’s not snoozing, Turkey is full of playful energy, always ready to chase a toy or explore his surroundings.

Cranberry is a sweet and spirited tabby who knows how to balance playtime with snuggles. Full of energy and curiosity, she’s always up for a game, whether it’s chasing a toy or romping around with her brothers. After she’s done playing, Cranberry loves to curl up on your chest for a cozy nap, purring contentedly as she recharges.

Tater is a black kitten with a kinked tail! He's a bundle of energy and curiosity. True to his name, Tater is a bit of a goofball with a feisty streak, always ready to turn the simplest toy into an epic adventure. He’s the first to explore a new corner of the house and will keep you entertained with his playful antics.

Tom Selleck (affectionately called Goober by his foster parents) is getting ready to star in his next big series called “The Mutt with a Gorgeous Mug” and he’s ready to roll out the red carpet right into your living room. He’s a 5 month old Schnauzer mix that is just a dream. He’s affectionate, curious, smart and loves to play tug of war with his foster pal.

This hunk is passionate about giving kisses - you will feel the love every second you are in his presence. He loves all the people he meets and is sure to win a Dogscar for his exceptional performance as the best dog in the world.

He’s already mastered stage directions including potty training, sit and is working on shake. Get your apps in now for a showing after his neuter! He will be neutered on Dec. 13th and ready to go home a few days later. The dog application link is in the comments.

Northwest Animal Companions is an all volunteer run rescue. That means all of the money that’s donated goes directly to the animals. 🐶 🐱 No overhead - no admin costs. The money we raised yesterday is much needed after several months of extremely costly medical treatment for foster animals we took on that no one else would. Additionally, fundraising has been difficult through the election season and we’ve seen adoptions slow.

Our Giving Tuesday $12k match is our biggest fundraiser goal ever! We only have $3,010 left to go to secure the full match. Your support is what makes it possible to write a new chapter and storyline for rescues like Winnie Poo. The link to donate is in the comments below.

Often when we take in a rescue we don’t get answers to why and how. What we know is that we have to try to write a better ending to their story. Winnie Poo was covered in wounds on her face and body, her eyes were infected and her teeth were painful. A good Samaritan didn’t look away and got her to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Tualatin.

She knew just how to make the staff fall for her in spite of her condition and the pain, she pressed into every person understanding they were trying to make her better. Her charm worked! Our medical foster took her in after her stray hold. A new chapter begins.

The cause of her appearance was a very resistant staph infection. After 6 weeks of treatment, her skin cleared. What was initially thought to be a painful cherry eye turned out to be painful Entropion - her eye lid rolled inward and was causing the lashes to rub on her cornea. She got that surgery and a much needed dental and now she’s on her way to a much happier life.

Cases like Winnie Poo are hard. It takes a special foster, lots of treatment, lots of vet intervention and an equally special adopter to be willing to give dogs like Winne Poo a chance at the life they should be living. When you support us, your dollars make it possible for stories like Winnie Poo’s to be rewritten.

This velcro puppy is looking for her special companion to snuggle and be with. She has quite a few sensitivities so a calm house is the perfect stage setting. She can co-exist with other animals, but really wants to be your one and only. If you have the love to give and want to get it back in droves, apply to bring this miracle girl home.

Meet an adorable bonded pair of siblings who dumped and fortunately found by a cat loving human who is fostering these two young cats.

Marble Boy and Little Baby Momma are two siblings about a year old. They were dumped and abandoned in the neighborhood of their foster parents. They are very sweet kittens looking for a family that won't abandon them and will continue the loving care they've had from their foster family.

Marble Boy is a sweetheart and really lives up to his name with the most beautiful marbled coat. He wants to be near you and on you, while staring deeply into your eyes and caressing your face with his paw. He comes when you call him. He’s a vocal kitty (an expert triller) because he doesn’t want you to forget him. He is gentle when he plays with Little Baby Momma. And he is acrobatic when playing with feathers. He is easy-going, but timid and easily spooked or startled. Marble Boy is also a chonky boy weighing in at 9.8lbs!

Little Baby Momma is also a bit hefty at 8.8lbs. She is a sweet, playful, confident, and curious kitty cat. She loves to roll to expose her belly while cuddling with you. She’s quiet at night, making her a good sleeper, but vocal while she plays her brother Marble Boy with whom she loves to play. She also comes when you call her. She loves to play with crinkly balls she can bat around, toys stuffed with catnip that she can bunny-kick, and feathers she can chase. She loves to nap on human legs, too.

Little Baby Momma and Marble Boy love to nap snuggled up together. They also love to hang out on window perches to look at the birds and squirrels. Cozy cat beds, especially heated ones, are among their favorite items.

Happy Thanksgiving from the Turkey and Bear litter. Because of all of you - the fosters, volunteers, partners, clinics, local businesses and schools, our adopters and supporters we have helped take in over 620 fur babies so far this year and have the funds and homes to support them. Many of them have had extra special needs. We are so grateful that our village is so compassionate and generous. Happy Thanksgiving to all humans and furballs. Share those alumni pictures of the fur kids enjoying the family gatherings too.

Meet Dolly Momma: isn't she a looker? Momma Dolly is a petite and graceful cat with a calm, enchanting presence. Her beautiful eyes seem to hold the wisdom of the world, and her penetrating gaze can stop you in your tracks.

While her voice is loud and commanding when she chooses to speak, she’s usually a quiet and serene companion, content to observe the world around her. Ever curious, she loves to wander and explore every nook and cranny.

Playtime reveals her spirited side—she’s quick and agile, especially when a wand toy comes into play, her movements a display of energy and excitement. Her friendliness makes her a natural charmer, always drawing others in with her serene demeanor. She's done raising her beautiful babies and they are off to their furever homes and now she's looking for hers.

HVAC has been with us for quite a while and is looking for his forever home! This senior boy loves to snuggle and be brushed. He doesn’t scratch on furniture or care about human food. He likes to play with catnip toys and would love to be in a calm home. If you want a cat that will sleep with you in bed all night HVAC is purrrrfect for you.

Twyla is a delightful and very loving little girl, she was found wandering about neighborhoods looking for her forever family.

She is a gorgeous fawn and silver medium hair tabby with the longest most elegant tail in town. She is very affectionate and loves to be cuddled and picked up. She is very trusting of people and warms up quickly, often greeting her friends with a purr.

While Twyla enjoys being able to sit on your lap, stretch out on a bed and gaze out the window she also highly values her playtime.

So far, catnip squirrels, feathers wands and laser pointers have been her favorite toys as she darts in and out of her kitty play tunnel.

Wouldn’t it be great to wake up every morning to this sweet face? 😻Oogie Boogie is a sweet little mischief-maker a big round face, golden round eyes, button-like ears, and a belly so plump he has to walk around it. 😹

This 3 month old bundle is full of charm and he will sing to you with his purrs. His chirp—somewhere between a wise old man and kitten—echoes through the house when he wants something you’ve got. His favorites? Food, attention and screen time on whatever video game you are playing. When not chatting, he loves playing with his own electronic doodads and toys.

Oogie Boogie was a former feral kitten, so he has an ear tip signifying he was neutered. He has come a long ways from the scared frozen kitten that came into rescue. He would still prefer a less busy quieter home. He would prefer to be in a home with another friendly cat. He loves his foster buddy cats and would love to have another feline friend in the home. How can you say no to a face like this? We didn’t. 😻

It’s been a hard year for rescues. So much need and declining adopters. You all have been with us through all the ups and downs. We are so grateful that a few of our supporters have pooled together dollars so that we can offer a generous match for Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year - we have an ambitious goal of $12k to take advantage of a $12k match. As an all volunteer rescue, every dollar goes directly to the care of the bottle babies like Ember. She was found crying under a bush. The family waited for mom to return and when she didn’t, they cut through the bushes to get her and called us. She was only 2 weeks old and needed to be in the incubator and bottle fed with expensive formula. She made it because of her dedicated foster and our volunteer veterinarians. She’s now 3 months old and thriving in her home with 3 other NWAC alumni! 🥰🐾

Twinkle Toes is a curious little explorer with a playful streak that keeps him constantly on the move. While he enjoys the occasional romp with his siblings, he much prefers the company of his favorite humans, following them around for attention and affection.

A natural climber, he loves scaling furniture and perching in high places to observe his surroundings. His favorite toys are wand teasers, which bring out his acrobatic side, and sparkly balls that he gleefully bats around the room. With his inquisitive nature and love for play, this kitten is a delightful companion who’s always ready for fun.

Mini Cooper got fixed today and still needs a foster home. Can you take this sweet pup in? 💕 He’s about 4.5 months and partially housebroken. He’ll likely get adopted quickly so fostering him wouldn’t be a long-term gig.

Adopt Nimbus

Nimbus is an affectionate companion with a lot love to share. Initially reserved, this sweet boy blossoms into a purring dynamo once he finds his comfort zone. His deep, rumbling purrs are reminiscent of a motor boat, and he shares his love through head bumps and body rubs. Nimbus is keenly intelligent and an impressive athlete. He will appreciate someone who will be patient and allow him to acclimate to his new environment at his own pace. Though initially shy and prone to startle (don't be surprised if he jumps six feet straight up!), Nimbus's trust is a treasure worth earning. Once you've gained his confidence, he enjoys affectionate pets, loves to be brushed and fed treats. Nimbus came to us from a home with dogs, cats, and children. He has been returned to us recently from an adoptive home because he and the other cat did not get along. Nimbus is on an anxiety medication which we hope will be temporary until he is comfortable in his new home. He has sweet disposition and will likely get along with respectful children. He is around 3 years old and has gorgeous blue eyes!

Seven is on the mend!

We’re so sorry to say that TC, the sweetest angel, crossed over the rainbow bridge this morning. 🌈 TC had a terminal heart condition - we knew this was coming - but wow this hurts. 💔 TC was one of several medical/hospice fosters with Northwest Animal Companions. We take on some of the hardest and most expensive rescue cases in our region because we believe these souls deserve a chance at life, even if it’s short. Thanks to the support of people like you and our incredible foster volunteers, we were able to give TC the best kittenhood possible with his illness. Will you donate in TC’s honor? We think he would want the other medical fosters in our care to have the same shot at life that he had. We currently have three medical fosters that have racked up a bill of over $13k in the past month, and with donations at a low due to several reasons including election jitters, we could really use the help right now. Northwest Animal Companions began in 2004 and we have consistently made the decision to remain a small, local foster-home based animal rescue in Beaverton, Oregon. We assist dogs and cats who are in transition to find forever loving homes. We are unique in that we accept animals through owner surrender, Vet medical intake, assist local shelters with animals who are overwhelmed in the shelter environment and are committed to working collaboratively with like-minded organizations.
