5 years ago yhe average lifespan of a doberman was 9 years, now its down to 7.5 years. Please pay attention to the health status, the inbreeding and the longevity of the pedigree in your dobermans. If people continue to be careless and irresponsible, we won't have the beautiful breed one day! UPDATE: We've been quiet lately because our project has entered a new phase of focusing exclusively on research, with a focus on Dilated Cardiomyopathy, the #1 killer of Dobermans. In the meantime, we needed to share this very important finding. More and more data is showing that the lifespan of Dobermans is short: only 7.5 years!!! This confirms findings from another previous study that found average Doberman lifespan to be 7-8 years, depending on male vs female: https://cgejournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40575-018-0066-8
It is well past time to be honest with ourselves, and do something.
