This is Bella! She was bought at a swap shop at just 5 weeks old. Far too young to be taken from her mother and at risk for so many health problems. This is all too common, puppies taken too young and sold, and mothers made to breed over and over. We help set puppies like Bella up for success with deworming and vaccinations and when old enough, helping to get them spayed or neutered.

Puppies and kittens are prone to hypoglycemia so we always have puppy/kitten friendly food on the van for the little ones who might have gone for hours without food while waiting to be treated.
This little guy was pretty happy to munch on some snacks!

Kitten update! The very sick kittens that were relinquished to us are doing well. A couple of them had such severe eye infections that they would not have survived another day without surgery. These two kittens are Eduardo and Chiquita. Eduardo had to have both eyes removed and Chiquita just one. They are both recovering beautifully and will be heading to their foster home tomorrow.

Hi all! Sometimes we get so busy on the van that we don’t have time to update, and this past month has been as busy as we have ever been! We have many more stories to share in the coming weeks but here is a sweet story from last week.
Ellie the 8 week old white calico kitty was rescued off the side of the road in California with her two siblings by a kind stranger who stopped to scoop them up. She brought Ellie and her siblings to us and surrendered them to the ElleVet Project. We gladly accepted responsibility for their care and for finding good homes for them.
Ellie received care for her eye infection, which saved her from losing her eye. Our team fell in love with the kittens and were delighted we could give them a happily ever after. Last slide is a puppy too cute not to post! Meet Henrietta the pitbull puppy with the sweetest personality!

Our first day of 2023 started off with over 40 pets waiting to see us, and ended with us taking into our care this very sick and weak mama dog and her 3 day old puppies. This poor mama is only 2 years old, probably younger and has had 3 litters already. None of her prior litters survived but as you can see these lucky puppies are in very good hands! Right now mama’s health is our main concern and getting her strong and healthy is the goal. None of these dogs would have survived without our intervention and we were truly in the right place at the right time. It will be 8 or more weeks but they all will be up for adoption and we will be looking for loving forever homes! More pics to come and if you would like to donate a small amount to help care for mama then please visit the link in bio to help out💜

We are currently working on getting to pets on the beach at the Sanibel bridge. This collapsed bridge has become a spot where animals are being dumped. We are also working with the overwhelmed humane society in Lee County.

The team has little cell service and is not able to send photos but they are working hard on the ground in a devastated area.

Every donation goes towards providing water, medical supplies, food, and search and rescue efforts. Please consider donating, any amount can make a difference in the lives of these vulnerable animals.

The ElleVan has been driving nonstop since leaving Maine yesterday and will arrive in Fort Myers tonight! We will be ready to hit the ground running first thing in the morning, treating pets, locating lost pets and giving out supplies such as food and water.

We could not do this without all of your generous donations-thank you so much to everyone who has donated to our hurricane relief fund. There is a huge need so please help spread the word so we can reach our goal. Every amount means so much.

A huge shoutout to Annamaet Petfoods who heard about our mission and has sent a ton of dog and cat food down to our set up location at the Companion Pet parking lot in Florida. They are an incredible company and great people!

Friends, we are overwhelmed by what we are seeing in Montana but we are doing our best to save everyone we can. This sweet pup we have been working on rescuing for a few days now. She was in a horribly abusive home and with lots of help from the community were able to convince the family to relinquish her to our care. She is on the van with us and along with Quinn will be in our care and heading to Maine where we will find her a loving home. She is glued to us and cries when one of the team leaves the van even for a minute-she is so traumatized but happy to be safe. We’ve got this girl. We also have two emergencies unfolding and will keep you all updated. Thank you for all your support💜

09/08/2022

We’ve seen some heartbreaking cases on the ElleVet Project but this case might be the most heartbreaking of all. It made our veterinarians and staff cry to see what this poor dog had suffered and how sweet he still is. Meet Quinn. We are in Montana and Quinn came to our van as a stray, most likely looking for help. Upon examination we found that he had at least 50 porcupine quills embedded, puncture wounds from being attacked by another animal and his tail had been cut off. He had wounds and skin infections and through all of this he remained sweet and affectionate, not making a peep during his exam. We sprang into action and got him sedated and our amazing veterinarian got out all the quills and treated his wounds. He will be staying with us on the van-this guy will never again know pain and abuse. We will find him his happy ending💜
