Results are in! Here are our judge's comments:

JUDGE’S COMMENT:
I have REALLY enjoyed judging this competition – so many gorgeous dogs, with their unique stories and all so loved! It really has been very difficult to choose my winners, particularly the Rainbow Ridge and Rescue classes, but pondering over the pictures and stories time and time again has been a lovely experience and I must thank you all for entering. Of course I would like to take them ALL home, but my final choice went unashamedly to Lola the Dobermann – her picture reminded me so much of all my wonderful Dobes that are now playing over the Rainbow.

There are four places in each class and also a special awarded. If you are placed, please can you please reply in a direct message with your name, address and placings so it is easy and quick for me to assemble the posted rosettes. The packages will be posted second class, to keep my costs down. Thank you so much.

MONDAY UPDATE! Wow, you amazing people - £350 has been raised through your entries to the show. That is an incredible amount. I am so grateful for your support and this will mean the world to our lovely Rebecca Renmant-Oliver who is currently packing pallets to go out to Ukraine. Our esteemed judge Felicity von Oettingen will be going over the entries and as soon as I have the places I will publish. Give your dogs a big hug and yourselves a pat on the back!

DON'T FORGET the Show closes tomorrow evening. We are hovering around the £325 mark now, so if anyone still has to pay or enter, please help us hit the magical £350. We look forward to seeing your pictures if you haven't done them yet! All money will be donated to help animals in the Ukraine, facing a cold and hungry winter. An aid lorry leaves this week to go to them, and more will be needed. Thanks for supporting. Anyone living in W Sussex or Surrey might also be interested in the fabulous fundraising afternoon tea on Sat 16 November. Details on the poster below - places must be pre-booked and paid for via Rebecca Renmant-Oliver

SUNDAY is our final show entry day - so if you haven't entered yet, get cracking! It would be lovely to hit the £350 figure and we are not too far off! Just a few more entries and we will get there.

On a more sombre note, I am sending words of condolence to our regular show participant, Sue Le-Heup whose little spaniel Bertie has just gone to the Bridge. Sue has always been incredibly loyal to our shows and over the years we have enjoyed the pictures of her dogs. We all know how painful it is to lose our dogs, so I am sure you will join me in sending her our love.

MONDAY UPDATE. Thanks for the entries that came in over the weekend. We are so thrilled with the support. On another note, if you are local to W Sussex/Surrey you might like to come to the Tea and Tales event being organised by Rebecca, also for Ukraine aid. This is on Sat 16 Nov from 3 pm at Ockley Village Hall. A light afternoon tea will be served, plus there will be two talks about delivering aid to Ukraine. This should be a fascinating insight into what is going on there. Plus we have a superb raffle for some gorgeous prizes. Details are below including how to pre-book as we cannot take walk-ins on the day. It will be a lovely afternoon with like-minded doggy people and another way to support the aid relief to Ukraine. I will be there selling raffle tickets so hope to meet you.

SOGGY SUNDAY UPDATE. A bit of cheer on a gloomy day! We have reached £300 in our funds from the show with a week to go! What a wonderful amount to be able to put towards aid for animals in Ukraine. We still have time for new entries, so anyone sitting on the fence, now is the time to take the leap. A nice Sunday afternoon activity to sort out your best doggie pics and enter our classes. Don't forget, payment is via PayPal and due once the entries are posted. If we could get to £350 by next Sunday, that would be pawsome! Thanks for all the support!

MONDAY UPDATE! Thrilled to say that we have now raised over £270 for our wonderful cause. It would be fantastic to hit £300 so if anyone still has to pay and submit their entries, please do it soon! I know that the aid is so badly needed in Ukraine having spoken to the organiser of the aid collection and transport. Thousands of pets have been left with no home or family to take care of them - rescuers are doing their best with very limited funds and access to goods. Supporting this little show, sends ripples of kindness far and wide. Thanks for all the support so far.

Rosettes are here! The beautiful rosettes are here and you have 2 weeks to go. Get snapping pics if you plan to enter. All money paid for entries will be donated to aid animals in Ukraine. Any and every entry is highly valued by myself and the wonderful Rebecca Renmant-Oliver who is the force behind gathering lorry loads of aid.

MONDAY update! Fantastic news - we are nearly at the £200 mark in funds! With two weeks to go, I am hoping we can get to £300 plus. This would be an amazing sum to help the transport of vital aid for pets to Ukraine - the winter is the toughest time for them and they need bedding, food and meds in the war-torn areas. Every £ you donate will be donated - no costs are taken by me from the entries! So keep 'em coming! Stunning photos and dogs in every class - the judge is going to have a tough time!

Our lovely rosette maker Chamleigh Rosettes is beavering away to make our stylish rosettes. To salute Ukraine, the colours will be blue and yellow, as in the flag. Best in Show will be three tiered and something to treasure. Pictures will follow.

Please do continue to get your entries in - we would love to raise at least £200 for our worthy cause - winter is coming so aid to Ukraine animals and people is even more needed. For less than the price of a coffee or magazine, you can enter (£2 per class) and know you have done something good. Thanks for all the lovely support so far.

I am pleased to announce our judge is Felicity von Oettingen, who is a childhood friend of mine and a great dog lover. Felicity is an expert dog trainer from her life in South Africa where she trained her home bred Dobermanns in man work, obedience, showing and other disciplines. She was a top show judge for her breed. But she has had lots of other dogs including rescue greyhounds and Jack Russels. She was thrilled to be asked as she loved judging a previous show. We used to ride together around Rudgwick and Ellen's Green. Thanks to her for stepping up to judge.

Brilliant entries so far. Beautiful dogs and lovely write-ups. Keep 'em coming. Ukraine animals need our help. Xx

22/09/2024

CLASS EIGHT The dog the judge would most like to take home. Of course, the judge would like all of them, but has to make a tough decision. Please post with your dog's name and an endearing fact about them - eg they like to steal your socks! Post below with the cutest picture you can find!

22/09/2024

CLASS SEVEN. Most fantastic fancy dress! Be as creative and wacky as you like, but make sure your dog is happy to be dressed up! No specific theme, so tell us what the fancy dress costume represents (could be a character, theme, event, book or film title, person etc). Please comment with dog's name, fancy dress "theme" and post their picture below to enter.

Helping rescue dogs

With dog shows cancelled and rescues struggling for funds, I have decided to set up a fun-d-raising on-line dog show. There will be several categories and each will have rosettes to four places and hopefully, a goody bag for each class winner. The show will be independently judged by our experienced judges and everyone can enjoy seeing pictures of lovely dogs of all shapes and sizes.
