Losing a pet doesn’t only cause a broken heart; it elicits real and serious grief.

18/12/2023

As the holiday season approaches, you may think about a cherished furry friend no longer here. 🐶💔 While they may have crossed the rainbow bridge, their memory lives on in our hearts. Here are some special ways to honor and remember them during this time.

Please give the scared ones, the barking ones, the jumpy ones, the shy ones, the hyper ones, etc. a shot!

They have loving souls that are just trying to deal with losing the previous family and homes they used to know, all while living in a small kennel and rarely going outside and getting the exercise they need.

You'd act differently then you usually do, too. Be compassionate and understanding. 🐾♥️

Here's something I deeply believe: Understanding and respecting our dogs’ ethics is far more important than mere compliance-based training. Dogs, like us, are sentient beings, with feelings, thoughts, and unique personalities. They aren't machines to program but companions to understand.

Training that merely seeks compliance overlooks a dog's individual needs, and can inadvertently suppress their natural behaviours and instincts. Instead, we must foster a relationship built on mutual trust, respect and understanding. This begins with ethical treatment that values a dog's individuality, emotions and wellbeing.
goes beyond commands. It's about fostering a bond, deciphering their communication, and celebrating their individuality. The real 'training' is not in teaching dogs to merely comply, but in guiding them positively while we, as their humans, learn and adapt alongside them.

Together, let’s redefine dog training - with empathy, respect, and understanding.

Chronic Kidney Disease in Cats 🐈💔

Sadly, it is estimated that over half of cats 10 years and older have chronic kidney disease (CKD). 😿 There are many causes of feline CKD, but one of the most common triggers is an ultra-processed dry food diet.

The essential nature of the feline species demands that they meet most of their hydration requirements through their diet, not at the water bowl. However, ultra-processed kibble — the furthest thing from optimal, moisture-dense, feline-specific nutrition — can’t meet their moisture requirements. A lifetime of ongoing, mild dehydration can potentially cause ongoing kidney stress, over time.

Learn more about contributing factors to feline CKD and how to reduce your cat’s risk when you read today’s free article on our new website: https://bit.ly/3qaI2R9

If you rescued a baby, motherless, kitten, here’s a DIY milk recipe you can use in a pinch. 🍼🐱👇

Mother cat's milk is the ideal nutrition for kittens. 👌 It provides important antibodies that help protect the babies from disease until their own immune systems can. Ideally, kittens should be with their mother until they’re at least 6 weeks old, because the longer they are fed mom's milk, the healthier their start in life.

Sometimes nursing mom’s will foster orphan kittens, so that’s the next best option.
Motherless kittens who must be hand-fed should be given either a commercial kitten formula available at pet stores or online, or a homemade, nutritionally complete milk formula. 🍼

If you find a kitten that needs a milk replacer ASAP, here’s a temporarily fix (until you can source a nutritionally complete commercial formula or recipe, I’ve included one in today’s article, link below).🐈💪

Mindful presence with your pup...

Breathe deep, let the to do list go, put down the phone. Sit and observe your dog. As you sit in this quiet place, keep breathing. Let your breath match theirs, maybe theirs will match yours.

Be humble in this moment and realize the privilege of being able to share your life with such an amazing soul...
