Good morning from Momma Maizy and her five kittens. the are the cutest! Maizy has been very sweet.. jumped on my lap, purred, and had rubbed against my legs. I'll do formal introductions in a bit but kittens are one week old today and their names are: Oakleigh, Scarlett Rhen, Blaze Wyatt, Sawyer Paige, and Asher.
We were at the vet with Daisy, unfortunately we did not get good news. Despite Momma Marigold testing negative a few days ago, Daisy tested a faint positive for panleukopenia. This is the sixth case of panleuk i have seen in the last tWo months, which is very high. We are hoping since it was a faint positive their symptoms will be mild but everyone received fluids and a B12 shot today. The vet said Daisy's temp and vitals were normal so that's good news. Her symptoms presented yesterday with vomiting and diarrhea. We are also giving anti-nausea meds and probiotics and have fluids on hand if they need more. Sunflower has also thrown up but so far no symptoms from Buzz Buzz and Bumble.

Benjamin update from his vet check up yesterday! His incision is looking great and stitches will come out next week. He had been doing such a good job of not bothering his incision that he hasn't had to wear his cone and that makes both us us happy! He is being treated for coccidia and roundworms as well as a yeast infection in his ears. Giardia also showed up on f***l but he's not actively shedding it so we will run another sample in a few weeks to see if that needs treated or not. Benjamin weighs 2.1 pounds and will get his first vaccine at his suture removal appointment. started letting him have some supervised time out of my office to explore and he has been loving it! We have official names and intake photos to share! I decided to do flower names for the girls and bees for the boys. Introducing Momma Marigold and her adorable~babies Buzz BuzZz, Bumble Bee, Shasta Daisy, and Sunflower With the exception of big boy Bumble, they weigh what a three week old kitten would and their little legs are in need of muscle development. This is likely due to being in the shelter - not the shelters fault as they are just doing the best they can to keep them alive - but when the kittens can't move around much and there isn't time and resources to make sure Momma cats are being fed what they should be for nursing kittens, this is what we see. We are feeding Marigold several meals a day of wet kitten food, giving her plenty of water, and leaving dry food out for snacks. We also are seeing if any of the kittens have interest in baby food to give them a little extra boost. Attempt one went pretty well this morning! We are happy they are here and that you are here to follow their journey!🧡

I'm so happy to welcome our new arrivals! had been so busy with Whiskey & Whiskers planning the past few weeks that I wasn't able to take them in until now, but here they are! met this group last month when
was at the shelter transporting several groups of kittens. The babies were just born and I
promised momma would come back for her when had space. She's been waiting since July 21st - her babies have only known living in a cage, but that changed today. She came to the shelter as an
owner surrender and the shelter named her Marigold, which I like so will keep her name. I've been wanting to do a bee theme group for a while - should we do flowers and bees? was thinking Buzz, Bee-atrice, Bumble? also think Sunflower would be cute. What do you guys think? Also, one of the kittens looks to me like its eyes are far apart. Marigold has a "squishy" looking face with a short snout and a tongue she likes to stick out.
Anyone know what breed of cat she may be mixed with? Should we do a DNA test for fun?

report that a very difficult decision was made this morning to let Betty peacefully pass away. She looked so alert and
spunky last night and was hopeful to move forward with our plan to bring her home. Unfortunately, her breathing had become more labored and it was becoming increasingly more difficult for her to eat. The overnight team had to stop each feeding due to her respiration. This was probably the hardest decision I've had to make . She was in the Snyder Oxygen
system since Tuesday morning, which is top of the line care. Vet team was giving her all they had to offer her with medications, treatments, and other support. With not improving respiration wise and the newer issue of not being able to easily and safely eat, felt like she was facing an uphill battle that would be unkind to put her through. Her medical team made special accommodations for her and to be in a separate room with 100% oxygen blowing on her face so
Could have some time with her. We had a nice snuggle and as was petting her,
told her how much she was loved, how many people cared about her, and how special she was.
There has been a lot happening over here the past few days so these two haven't gotten to announce their big news yet. Denver and Vail are now officially available for adoption as a bonded pair. If you are interested in these super sweet and beautiful kittens let us know

Look who is home Benjamin is doing great and is all set up in his playpen for safe healing and recovery. He's such a happy little guy! He was also able to get neutered so that saves him another anesthesia which was happy about. He does have a yeast infection in both ears which we are treating. The vet will see him fora check up on Thursday and then he will go back a week after that for suture removal.
Everyone, meet Benjamin!
We got a message from the emergency vet late last night about this kitten brought in by a Good Samaritan who was found with an apparent de-gloving front leg injury. Vet took X-rays which also revealed several breakS. Benjamin will have amputation surgery. He's sweet, 7-8 weeks old, and just as cute as can be! It's up from here, Benjamin!

Can we all agree that momma cats deserve some sort of an award after putting up with kittens who act like this? Momma Jessica needs some pampering and me time! She seems to be feeling better today but still not 100%. Hopefully each day will bring another step of improvement.

Betty had her appointment with the internal medicine team today. They took time to listen to her story, symptoms she was having, my observations, and did a physical exam. They agreed that her snorting and overall presentation was "polyp suspicious" and felt like the best approach was to do a sedated oral exam. The plan was to do the sedation, look for a polyp and if one was found, to remove it. If nothing was found, they were going to give her a CT while under anesthesia to have a better look in different areas of her sinus cavities. The vet team warned me that there could be some risks due to her size but we all agreed that the way she was eating wasn't sustainable and felt like the polyp was getting bigger based on how hard it was getting for me to feed her. After being sedated, it was quickly discovered that she had a large polyp under her soft palate. While attempting to remove it, she stopped breathing and her heart rate plummeted. I was told "she went to kitty heaven and came back" There were at least five people working on her. am so thankful for all of their efforts. She truly is a miracle kitten! Because of her reaction to being under the anesthesia, they had to quickly stop the surgery and were not able to get all of the polyp out and were not able to rinse and irrigate the area as they normally would. This just means she still soundsa little snotty but is breathing and eating so much better. She can actually meow now! It's amazing! She will be on steroids for five days and may have to go back for a second procedure when she's older to get the remaining portion of the polyp. I'm including some pics of the oral exam, the surgeons using a uterine catheter tube as an airway- only thing that would fit in her throat to keep her breathing, receiving Oxygen, getting her IV, the size of the polyp that was removed (very big for a one pound two ounce kitten), and her after/before meow!

Betty update. I'm happy to report that she's doing so much better! did make her an appt with IM for Saturday as still think something else is going on that's not URI related. She has learned that feed her on the rocking chair, so when she hears the basement door open, she climbs up the chair and sits there waiting for me. She refused to drink her milk from anything other than a ni**le that she torn down to the very bottom to make it so the milk just pours itself out of turned the right way. I am not arguing with her. We have a little routine of eating every four hours during the day and she's back up to 535 grams. At her lowest last week she was 455, which was very scary. Jason and Travis watch her eat and they are happy to lick the formula Tupperware container when she's done eating.
Friends, it's been a long day. Momma Jessica and her kiddos went to the vet for their first vaccines and another de-wormer. They were very well behaved. But, they no longer fit in two carriers so we marched into the vet with three carriers. Two trips to the car is always fun, lol! If I'm being honest, I keep thinking of Ben. know he's doing really well in his forever home, but I miss him. That's part of the "job" sometimes. My next focus is to get these overly fluffy babies a little more social with people and give them some added attention. Donna is our smallest kitten at 1.2 pounds and Louis is nearly 2 pounds! Can you believe little Mike went from .66 of a pound two weeks ago to 1.5 pounds today! Momma Jessica's wound is healing, but still open. Vet is happy with it but said it's likely she will have a decent sized scar there and won't grow fur back. She did also gain half a pound, which is good. We are starting to see some eye goop on a few of the kittens so ointment is underway. Everyone is all snuggled in for the night. Vet trips and shots always make the kitties a little sleepy for the next day or so. That's all of my rambling for this evening. Goodnight and sweet dreams..

I have never had a kitten who loves the dishwasher more than Benjamin! He takes his supervisory role very seriously with making sure everything is loaded and unloaded properly. Watch the videos to see his action as well as a cameo of Kona's tail which Benjamin was mesmerized by.
Travis is learning how to play! It's so fun watching them figure things out!

Listening to this and seeing happy, playful kittens run around makes me smile! As you can see, Boba and Jyn have moved back down to the foster room from my bathroom and are very excited! They will still be in the oxygen tank overnight but are doing very well. really think they need to be together forever. What do you think?😾🥰
