Oh yes, this says it all in the life of a cat owner!
Who said ‘curiosity killed the cat’, that is intrinsically the nature of cats. Curious beings who just love something new in their environment, much to their owners chagrin at times 😂 Check out this Stuff NZ post, so cute.

Cats turn every object and place to their own purposes, asking neither permission nor forgiveness, as they make your home theirs.

My brother & his partner have had cats for forever.
Usually just Moggies.
But they recently lost a beloved cat. He was a pure bred Burmese. Absolutely gorgeous, so cuddly and so into his family.
They didn’t quite see it coming, so it devastated them.
They still had the other cat Scruffy, an old beloved furry Moggie, but they knew at her age (19yrs) and being pretty much blind, not able to physically do much, she was not for this world much longer.
After several months, they have got the guts to get new fur babies! Burmese, brother & sister. How cute are they!
PS. Scruffy is actually loving it, not that she can do much 😊

Although we buy a lot of toys to keep our cats entertained, you can also make or create your own.

My son gets small twigs to play, he has also crafted a toy out of an old fishing rod with a little catnip mouse on the end.

I also make Kitty Kick Toys, so I thought I’d share the method for anyone that wants to give it a try. The cats go crazy for the catnip. 😂

Make a kitty kick toy
Things you'll need:
• Medium weight cotton fabric or flannel. An offcut from the fabric store is plenty for a few sticks.
• Poly fill.
• Catnip.
• Some people made them with bells inside, some didn't. I don't use the bells though.

You need to cut a rectangle from the fabric. For the small ones it will be 7" X 10". The larger ones will be 7" X 13". Fold fabric lengthwise so that the pattern is inside. Pin in place.

Starting at the bottom outer corner stitch across the bottom then turn the fabric and stitch to the top, back stitching to finish. Do not stitch the top. All your going to do is turn it inside out and start stuffing it.

FILLING THE TOY
Stuff the fabric tube using polyester fiberfill and dried catnip. I use about a tablespoon of catnip in each stick. I put the stuffing into the tube and push it down with a ruler. Tamp it down so that the tube feels firm, not too squishy.

After there is about an inch of fluff, sprinkle 1/3 of the catnip in. Fill about half way and again sprinkle 1/3 of the catnip in. About an inch from the top you'll add the remaining catnip and top that with more fluff.
Keep packing the fill and catnip down as you go. You want it to be fully stuffed so that the cat can really fight against it and it wont bend much.
If you want to add bells you can do it at any point, but try to get them in the middle of the fiberfill. This keeps them from pressing at the seam and making it so the cats can bite at them.

When you've got the tube completely stuffed, fold the top down turning it inside the tube and pin. Then run a row of straight stitches across the top. Easy!
I like to make 2 different sizes. The bigger the cat, the longer and wider you'll want the tube or 'stick' to be. You can even make kitten sized sticks!
Happy sewing!

Got to love it 🥰

It’s been pouring down here all night and morning.
I let the cats outside this morning as usual, Maggie May, just ran out, but Alfie walked over the deck to the steps, then turned around with a p #@&ed look on his face, and squawked at me like the weather was my fault! 😂
Now he’s just sitting here looking up at the sky.

Call me crazy, but I have allowed my home to be taken over by two small fur babies.
In our house we have a ‘cat room’, it’s the spare room, but has been taken over by all things cats 🐈‍⬛ it houses all their toys. We rotate these so they don’t get bored. They have tunnels, boxes, scratching poles, a multitude of dangly, interesting things to chase, lasers, you name it, Alfie & Maggie probably have it.
The room has a bed, that visitors can use, but the cats like it too 😉

My son & I made them this awesome cat tower, it gets used, then ignored.
But if you change it’s position in the house, BAM, they’re straight back in there. Good hint BTW!

Other than that, see attached pic of the ‘takeover’.
My son makes forts for the cats 😂

Happy Fur Baby Day (Ps. That’s everyday 😊)

Alfie! Great white hunter he is 🐈‍⬛😊
Beloved cat, but a bit of a problem.
We live on a busy road, so our cats get locked in at night to prevent the ‘chasing prey, possibly across the road’ scenario.
Problem being….. night time potty time.
Although we have a litter box set up, he doesn’t want to use it!
Totally over the clean ups, the smell!
Haven’t found out why he won’t use it?
Then after some research….
I finally found a solution, that has been a life changer. I will do a post soon on this once I’ve tested it for a bit more.

Love our fur babies, if you want to share, please do.

It’s a bit of a blog, but I’ve had cats in the household for years, and years.
As an adult, and with a young family, after years of growing up with cats as pets, we adopted an Adult cat, as a pet for our small children.
I was told it was a male called ‘George’, all good, he was a lovely gentle cat with my young children.
But one day I was out side talking to the neighbour over our half built fence, and I noticed ‘George’ acting quite strangely. Wanting to be near me, rubbing around my feet, then laying down panting strangely.
Now after watching ‘him’ quite closely for a while, I realised ‘He’ was in labour! After a quick set up of a delivery bed, ‘George’ safely delivered 4 babies.

PS. George was renamed Kiwi, and lived a long and happy life with our family.

This was the start of my love affair with this crazy species. These cats have been part of our family for many years.
RIP
1. Kiwi
2. Sam
3. Aussie
Well loved and part of our family for many years.

I adore, am amazed by, and at times driven crazy by… our two fairly newish gorgeous cats Alfie and Maggie May.

You may get graphic bogs on these two characters…..
