So Tyche gave me a bit of a scare the other day. But it turned out to be just a minor cut. I'm a nervous momma. It didn't seem to bother her being fussed over.

Took 1.5 hours to brush the dreadlock out of Tyche's tail, but we got it done. Next time we'll work the fairy knot out of her mane. She is decently patient with it but times out after about an hour. George was snoozing in the sun nearby while his kiddos supervised.

Tyche enjoyed a snow day yesterday, but today we had a long grooming session because she promptly rolled in the mud when she saw my truck, then we did some ground work. She looks sleepy here at the hitching post, but once we got started, all she wanted to do was run and kick up her feet.

Yesterday was a big day for Tyche, we took her for her first ride around her paddock. She was STELLAR! Not a moment of hesitation or willfullness. She doesn't have any experience with neck reining, but we'll work on that. Huge thank you to everybody! We're going to keep working with Tyche! Will post more soon.

Davey, the farm donkey, was going back and forth with the dogs. All driving each other crazy between getting scratches and snacks.

Tyche caused a bit of a kerfuffle today by having a minor bout of gas colic, but she is fine now. Happily dove into her dinner but spurned an apple.

Tyche was such a good sport today! Didn't bat an eye or even swish her tail when we put the ba****ck pad on her. We'll be working on round penning her with tack for the next week or so and see how she does. So far she has been willing to do anything that has been asked of her.

Hard to believe this pretty girl was skin and bones this past summer! She has filled out beautifully, and she's now built up some muscle from her daily exercise. We're excited to see where she goes from here!

Someone is all fluffy for winter. Tyche is like me, curvaceous in all the places she should be, she and I will continue trimming up with training, but everytime I see her I think her lovelier than the last. What do you think??

I went ahead and muted so y'all didn't have to hear our silly commentary.
The amazing Nikol helping us through Tyche's first time on the lunge line! She picked it up so fast, this girl is incredibly smart! We were blown away that she didn't know what we were asking but was trying so hard to figure out what we wanted so she could get it done. She's an amazing horse.
We'll be lunging her for a while to get some muscles built up on her before we progress in her training.

I am fighting not to cry right now looking at this comparison. A follower made this and commented it onto our last post. This girl was fighting for her life. I honestly believe that she was going to die soon had we not found her. This poor thing was on death's doorstep and all the owner said was "She's just old".
All she needed was her teeth floated so that she could properly eat food. After that, trust me when I say this, all we did was give her food.
This poor girl in the first photo was begging to be the girl in the second photo. We had no idea what we were getting when we rescued her, and this sweet, kind, loving, beautiful horse that has emerged has blown us away. Every morning when she's waiting to get fed, she waits at the far end of the pen for the person feeding her to start running along the fence with her, and then she runs with and kicks and bucks and tosses her head, and then once she gets to the other end, she puts her head over the fence and waits patiently for some loving.
Horses are not easy animals to keep, but for some reason people continue to get them expecting them to be. It blows me away the amount of horses I see around me starving, baking in the sun without shade, getting attacked by dogs cause their fence doesn't keep them out, not getting any exercise, not in large enough pens, not getting the proper food.
Im begging everyone on here, please don't purchase a horse without doing the proper research on how they should be cared for, what type of shelter they should be in, and how much exercise they should have. This poor girl was going to die simply because her teeth weren't floated.
I'm not attacking the previous owner here, I'm explaining the amount of research that needs to go into proper care of a horse so that this can stop happening to horses everywhere. They are complicated animals, and the simplest thing can be detrimental to them. They need serious educated care, they aren't just big back yard dogs, they have very specific needs that need to be met to keep them healthy that, yes, is very expensive, time consuming, complicated, and sometimes feels like more work than reward. But we love these creatures, so we need to work really hard to keep them healthy.
We love Tyche and we are so happy that she's happy, healthy and safe now. Her personality is so beautiful, I'm so glad she can let it flourish with us. Tomorrow is an exciting day, keep an eye out.

We love our Tyche girl and we're so excited that she's finally happy and healthy. She has so much s***k and personality, she's such a sweet girl, and just loves being loved on. Keep an eye on the page this week, we'll be posting a bit more now that she's doing better and I (Jessica) finally have my schedule opened up.

The grazing muzzle isn't slowing her down, just keeping her from cribbing.
Tyche has such a pretty trot! Can't wait until she is able to go out and join the other horses in their fun!

Tyche was a very good girl for Dr. Starr! Very proud of her! She is in good health and showing progress. She'll get dewormer and a bath tomorrow to treat the creeping cruds on her back legs.
