Bachelorette #1: Porcelain Project Hen
The ideal mate for Bachelor #1 (dark skin mille fleur).
Auction will be next week. Please, message to participate. (No sales happen directly on this page.)
NOT AVAILABLE WITHOUT A MATE. No single females will be available unless and until there are no suitable mates left to go with them. This is going to be a busy time. For my own sanity, I WILL NOT RESPOND to inquiries for only females without males. Going to be very strict on that. Thank you for understanding.
Okay! Who's ready for auctions?!?!
For those who don't already know, I am moving across the country and don't know if or how many birds I can take with me. This is me "cashing out" of the project (maybe forever.) So, don't sleep on these birds! They are the best I have ever produced in ten years doing this project and you will not have a better opportunity to get them. This is it.
Starting with the oldest grow outs of this generation, I will make breeding pairs available first and go from there until there are no suitable pairs left. NO SINGLE FEMALES unless and until there are no suitable mates left to go with them
Word to the wise, and I cannot stress this enough, INVEST IN GOOD BOYS! They are the very best return on your investment! Cannot stress that enough. One good boy can launch a whole project zwhether just starting out or way into the project already - into the stratosphere. Especially the dark skin boys (full pattern)! They are gold! And they are reeeeeally difficult to accomplish on your own.
*No sales directly on this page. You must message to be added to the live auction.
Thank you for your interest and support over the years. You have all been tremendous and sad as it is, it will be my honor to see my beloved birds continue to thrive in your projects!
Check out this video for a preview of Bachelor #1.
More to come! Stay tuned!
Got a couple of little fellas left for curbside pickup in Grand Rapids, Michigan. That will be about it for straight sales until my final auctions before I move.
*No girls available until boys are sold and no solo girls at all unless there are no boys to go with them.
Live with my sister, Emily!
Emily (Lauren's sister) here 🤗 I'm in the middle of my week of hosting Nature Camp on our farm. Today's main idea was CHICKENS! We took our nature walk around the farm, ending in the chicken yard. We all brought crates in with us and read our story of the day right with and to the chickens! Then we painted pictures of chickens, sat under the apple trees with a few chickens at a time, gave them treats, made them salads with the greens from the garden, enjoyed pretend play and learning more about the life cycle of the chicken with hands on life cycle chart and stuffed chickens, chicken sensory table, and a great game!
This was the game that I made up based on Doggy, Doggy, Where's Your Bone, so if you know that game, you'll get the idea 🤗
//Chicken, Chicken, Where’s Your Egg?//
"Chicken, Chicken, where’s your egg? Someone stole it from beneath your leg! Guess who! Maybe you.. Maybe the bunnies... what’ll you do?! Wake up chicken, find your egg!"
Video of our morning group meeting our broody girls 🥰
The cutest "meet cute" you ever did see! The look of love.....
Happy Gotcha Day, Quasi! Big thanks to Julie for giving him the bestest best life he could imagine!
Good morning, from Emily, Lauren's sister! Introducing the two new juvenile cockerel to their flock 🌥
New cockerels for Emily from Anna Whybrew at Five A Farm Fancy Feathers! So looking forward to seeing Anna’s birds worked into our line! Emily has my best dark skin birds from a new blood crossing of Lavender Silkie and my mille fleur Satins. Together, with these boys from Anna, there should be a new generation of dark skin, full lattern mille fleur and possibly porcelain Satins and Silkies to move forward with optimal genetic diversity.
Thank you, Anna and Emily for working together to keep these lines going here in Michigan!
It will be a while before Emily starts hatching and making birds from this group available but keep your eyes peeled. When they’re ready, they will make a great addition to established projects and an excellent foundation for new ones!
Live in Emily’s new chicken yard!
Emily here 👋 Some of my preschoolers meet the sweet chickens 🥰
Hi! Emily here 🤗 My preschoolers are in love with the sweet chickens! We were discussing what chickens need in order to be well cared for. They asked if they could get them water. I said yes and asked them where they could find water, to which they exclaimed, "The spigot!" And as they were running off, they stopped at the mud kitchen and grabbed all sorts of containers. They came running, sloshing water, yet trying to be oh so careful, and smiling all the way back across the acres to tend to the chickens. Here is a little video of the preschoolers giving water to the chickens. 🤸♂️🤸♀️🤸
Live with my kid sister, Emily and her new chickens from me at Happy Farm and our big announcements!
Testing, testing, 123.....working out how to bring someone on live with me...... Happy news coming up in this video (if I figure this out right, or the next video, if I have to start over! 😆) Stay tuned!
Quite possibly my dream chicken! This young hen is a porcelain Satin with new flowers blooming nearly every day! It's a subtle pattern but so elegant. Now, if only she laid blue eggs -better yet golden!- we'd be all set! (It's good to have dreams.)
