I wanted to share some training articles about training your pup not to bark. There are various methods. I use sit, stay, quiet usually. I also remove annoying stimulus, like the ability to stare out the front window, I say “other side of the yard” when I neighbor dog starts to taunt and bark, and most importantly once the alpha (or in my case the dog siting dogs) figure it out, the others will follow suit. If Whiskey and Oscar go off them all the dogs sing in chorus.
Some methods include:
1. Putting your hands around your pups mouth as a muzzle. Muzzles themselves can be used but are best as a tool for emergencies and are not a solution.
2. Putting a dog in their crate, turning your back and ignoring. (Crate not necessary for some dogs)
3. The scary sounding but sometimes necessary bark collar. If you want to use a bark collar I strongly suggest hiring a trainer for at least the initial set up and teaching of commands. Bark collars are a tool not a solution.
Here are three of my favorite articles on these matters.
