PET INSURANCE - IMPORTANT!! BREEDERS & RESCUES

BREEDERS : One of the best things you can do for your babies leaving your cattery/home is ensure that as they leave, they are covered by pet insurance. There are quite a few companies out there that will provide free of charge 6-8 weeks for kittens leaving your care. Not only does it not cost you anything, but it also gives you the assurance that should anything happen once the kitten leaves your home, they should be able to get the assistance needed if they develop FIP ( & other illnesses or injuries).

RESCUES : Some insurance companies are now offering a certain amount of free cover to animals adopted from rescues. One is PetCover. There may be others as well.

OWNERS :- One of the best things you can do for your new kitten is to ensure that you continue the cover(whether with the breeders insurer or another of your choosing) / take up pet insurance when bringing a new kitten home, at least for the first 12 months.

This will ensure that if your kitten develops with FIP (or another illness/ has an accident requiring vet care) that they will be able to receive the needed care & it won't cost you an arm and a leg, generally the excess cost.

Whilst we hear the argument a lot that pet insurance is not worth it and you're better to put money aside in a seperate bank account, many people will not be able to save the required funds for vet care before an illness or accident happens. Pet insurance is only a nuisance until you need it & with the cost of living going up, including vet costs, it can and does, and saves lives.

I thought I would post on my page as I’ve been getting a lot of people message for kittens , I have had to make a huge decision in regards to breeding Devon’s , I have decided to have a break for a while ( how long is a while ) you ask , well I’m not sure, due to some personal issues I feel it’s best to reflect and move forward.
I love my Devon’s 🥰 they are a breed of there own they give there families so much and I’m sure everyone who owns one would agree….
I will be moving on to group 2 cats which are Siamese and oriental they are just as cheeky as the Devon’s but a bit louder 😂😂
And to all my babies families I hope you are all doing well , keep contact as I would still love to see how they are all doing 🥰😻

I have a lot to say in this post 😊 it’s come to my understanding that rumours are being spread about me and my breeding program around that cat fancy 😞, this is NOT ok , it’s hurtful , stressful and down right WRONG! I have had an issue with a person who brought a kitten from me, a person who I thought was a friend , ohh how wrong was I.
firstly I’m an honest person and treat people how I would like to be treated, I pride myself on breeding well adjusted, social happy healthy kittens.
This person was sold a HAPPY HEALTHY KITTEN with all vet checks completed, she was given 6 weeks free pet insurance and I recommend that everyone keeps their insurance on going , unfortunately the kitten fell ill a couple months later and she didn’t keep the insurance ongoing so the vet fees were quite high, she CHOSE to surrender the kitten.
As a breeder I’m devastated that one of my kittens was surrendered without my knowledge, I however am happy that the kitten is doing well with the appropriate treatment thats all I could hope for 😻
I WILL NOT BE BULLIED BUY ANYONE !
What has happened is in NO way My fault as a breeder.

Ring 1 Debs Armishaw placed 3rd best kitten
Ring 3 Carol Galli placed 1st best kitten and best shorthair exhibit of the day
We received some lovely prizes and also won a hamper in the raffle 😊🐈‍⬛ I think Bonnie approves of the prizes as she was checking them out when we go home 🏠

As a breeder we face many challenges, sometimes things don’t go to plan , we experience loss, heartache and a lot of stress at times. We are human after all , my kittens leave my home happy and healthy all having the appropriate vet care. I send my babies of with 6 weeks pet insurance in the hopes that the adoptive family continues to keep the insurance ongoing , we don’t know what the future holds we don’t know if injury or sickness may arise but when and if it does it can be costly. I always offer families the option of returning the kitten should they no longer be able to care for them if the situation allows. All this I do because I care so dearly about my babies after all I watched them come into this world and raised them in my home with a lot of love and care 🥰 I have the most amazing vet who I can rely on for anything night or day and this is very important especially for breeders. I have a wonderful support network within the breeder community and I thank each and every one of you😊 without that I would not be where I am today.
To all my babies families give them
a big hug from me ❤️🐈‍⬛
