Sorry, but no points for the answer to this question! This is what hindgut acidosis with risk of ulcers looks like. So let’s train our eye! ✅ tail swishing ✅ very distracted, but head is low ✅ careful stepping with both hind legs ✅ right hind lands more medially (towards the horse’s midline) but it’s always better to see it by walking the horse in a straight line ✅ ‘ticking time bomb’ ✅ lip shaking and lots of blinking around the acupressure point for hindgut ✅ sensitivity at the withers ✅ rigid fascia and muscle around the trunk and hind legs ✅ seasonal itchiness of the hind end (note the tail). She is pretty much textbook, apart from lack of sensitivity of the girth area. #equinetherapy #mastersonmethod #equineulcers #equinehealth #equinephysio #horselife
The basics!
Some basics with Momo and the wonderful Julia Duncan 🥰 can highly recommend if anybody is looking for a natural horsemanship guru 👌
Can’t believe the difference in Miss T!
I didn’t really take any before or after pictures as I really didn’t think she would improve. But she started to put muscle on in the hind end, lumbar area and neck. And she’s actually moving better 👌
Miss T presented with an old injury (my guess a fracture either in pubic bone or femur), protective of her inner right hind leg and just general tension all over her body. The first time I worked on her, I did the mistake of mainly focusing on trying to fix the problem: I adjusted the hind end and a bit on her back. The result was the same as with her regular physio: she would get better and then just go right back when I came out to see her again. Her spine was even too uncomfortable for me to start suggesting any in-hand exercises…
So I went back to the ‘less is more’ Masterson philosophy and what a result! I focused on her front end more (combining fascia and sacro-cranial part of the training) and the body just started to heal itself! Can’t wait to see what she will be like in the next few months!
Just another lesson that working directly on the nervous system is the key. Bone cracking and massage have their place, but if you want deeper results, choose #mastersonmethod.
Some might say that whiskey is Scotland’s most important national treasure, but I think we can all agree that it is in fact the Highland Pony 👌 I’m quite happy with how much imbalance we managed to release in his spine and pelvis on the first session, so now it is time to build strength 💪🏻 #mastersonmethod #equinerelease #equinetherapy #equinephysio #highlandpony #horsescotland
Really happy with this change in posture after first session 🙌🏻💆🏼♀️Remember, old injuries can still affect you and your horse, years after they healed. #mastersonmethod #kineticchainrelease #equinephysio #equinetherapy #riderfitness #horseandrider #kcrscotland #KCR
Looks like a simple exercise but it was an extremely vital change for Danny
Danny had a major issue with both his stifles locking frequently, making him the worst case that the vet has seen. After working with a physio for some time, there was some improvement and then a plateau in his progress. Danny has been prescribed quite a lot of lunging and lots of poles, which I often also recommend (poles, not lunging) but in his case, it started to have an opposite effect. He is a good example why it is important to recognise fascia pain and general strain in the spine when re-assessing the horse.
As a result, we have seen a massive improvement in the last month, with much less locking and recently he was even comfortable enough to have his feet picked in the stable!
🐎 Danny had a nice soft back when I assessed him, but his dorsal fascia was screaming! Remember, you will get nerve pain before you get muscle tension, as your nervous system is the one actually controlling the muscles! 🐎

A very easy way to tell if your horse has an inflamed gut. Place your hand gently, but firm enough to move the skin and fascia covering your horse’s rib cage (3-4 last ribs). Move your hand to the sides as in the video. You will feel the fascia underneath your fingers does not glide as easily on the right side of the rib cage as it does on the left. On rare occasions, you will find the fascia does not glide easily on both sides, which then increases the possibility of presence of ulcers! #mastersonmethod #equinetherapy #fascia #horsescotland #equineulcers #redlighttherapy #horselife #equinephysio #hindgut #equinebodywork
When your chiro, who’s also a vet finds a consistent tension on right lumbar and tightness in poll every 6 months… don’t just accept, dig deeper… #mastersonmethod #fascia #equineulcers #hindgut #equinetherapy #horsescotland #horselife #equinephysio #equinebodywork #acupressure #redlighttherapy #eventing

Can you see the steam coming off Dave’s right tuber coxae??? It’s not uncommon for some heat to come up when working on acupressure points, but this was quite extreme! For comparison, I moved the camera to his back as well to show that no heat was coming from the rest of the body, just the hip point! I was asked to have a look at him, as owner noticed him holding his tail to the left.

Not many people are aware that if a limb experienced trauma from an impact, the muscles can get stuck in the same way as it happened at the time of the incident. Fascia and acupressure work releases the stuck memory from the limb and re-sets the nervous system back into its original function. #equinetherapy #acupressure #mastersonmethod #horselife #equinephysio #dressage #equinebodywork
Old rib cage injury
This girly is not a cribber, but she started to show this behaviour while releasing tension from an old injury.
Fascia holds onto memories and even when we think they don’t affect our horse, they eventually show us otherwise.
The behaviour was her way of releasing and dealing with the memory of the past injury.
