📢You may hear this phrase mentioned at a dog show or out in the field, but what does it actually mean when you hear it?

[ Critical to creating a short-backed dog standing over plenty of ground are the overall proportions of the GSP. In the Standard, the wording says: “Measuring from the forechest to the rearmost projection of the rump and from the withers to the ground, the Shorthair is permissibly either square or slightly longer than he is tall.”
While it is permissible for a German Shorthaired Pointer to be slightly longer than tall, it is a slippery slope. A longer back allows for more angulation in the rear without the associated foot interference or side-winding that would be seen in a shorter-backed dog. These dogs may have a bigger stride and appear “flashier” in the show ring; however, a longer back can be less stable and prone to injury.
A dog that is square or slightly longer than tall, and has proper angulation, will have the appearance of a “short-backed dog standing over plenty of ground” and will be able to move with an efficient, ground-covering stride." ]

As dove season approaches in Texas, this article is a great reminder on how to keep your dog cool and safe!

As hunting season approaches, there are extra steps you can take to prevent your dog from overheating.

Did you know cooling measures for your dog can start before you even load your dog up to go training or hunting?

This article by explains the importance of starting with a cool dog to avoid the heat, along with a number of things you can do to help prevent them from overheating.

Hi everyone! It's that time of year once again! Our club is holding its annual Horseback Field Trial on DECEMBER 9- 10 , 2023 in Cibolo, TX. You can find the actual premium to fill out on www.PERFDOG.COM

The last day to get your premium and payment in to Perfdog is on DECEMBER 5, 2023 before 6pm.

Hey Everyone! Our annual Rattlesnake avoidance clinic is coming up on Saturday AUGUST 19, 2023 and will be held at our lease in Cibolo, Tx. The deadline to sign up is Monday August 14,2023.

Please consider signing up your dog in an effort to help him learn to stay away from rattlesnakes. Your dog Must be a Minimum of 5 and a half to 6 months old and no older than 6 or 7yrs old. Your dog Must be in GOOD health.
Any breed is welcome.

If your dog has Already been to at least 2 clinics, they won't need to come again because they Already know the smells of the snake and can smell it before they even get out of the car.

We had our annual Hunt Test held on the weekend of February 11 and 12 2023.
Everyone had a great time and many were able to earn ribbons!

Thank you SO Much to all 4 of our Judges; Carl Petrey, Chuck Bullock , Jean Villa and Susan Briggs Sealy! All of you did an Exceptional job and we appreciate you very much!

Thank you to All of the club members who helped out over the weekend and Thank you to Ruben Flores and his girlfriend for doing such a wonderful job in preparing those delicious hamburgers for everyone on Sunday!

Thank you to my hunt test secretary Bob Steele for doing such a Wonderful job on Everything as always! You are Awesome, without your efforts , none of this would be possible!!

A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Fred Burnside for doing a SUPER FANTASTIC job planting the quail on the two courses and keeping track of the numbers used, as well as taking the time to go out to pick up the quail for our event!

Thank you to our gunners! You guys did Great! We appreciate you!!

Thank you to Susie Bohmler for helping to coordinate everything and for helping to keep everything on track! You do a great job and I always appreciate all that you do!
