Charly when she was three days old, Charly when she was three weeks old, incredible how fast she is growing, thanks to Lilly's milk.
Remember already Cleopatra bathed in donkey milk and she knew why.
Charly 3 Tage alt, Charly drei Wochen alt, unglaublich, wie schnell sie wächst, dank Lilly's Milch. Bekannterweise badete ja schon Cleopatra in Eselmilch, und sie wußte ja wohl warum.

Charly de 3 días, Charly de tres semanas, increíble lo rápido que está creciendo, gracias a la leche de Lilly. Se sabe que Cleopatra se bañaba en leche de burra, y seguramente sabía por qué.

Seit 2018 setzen wir uns für den Erhalt der Majerero-Esel ein, von denen es nur noch 250-300 Exemplare gibt. Es sind schon vier Fohlen bei uns geboren worden.
Aufgrund der anhaltenden Dürre der letzten fünf Jahre müssen wir große Mengen an Futter zukaufen. Die Haltung eines Esels kostet pro Monat ca. 70€ (inkl. Tierarzt, Hufschmied, etc.).
Wir freuen uns über Sponsoren / Spenden in jeglicher Höhe, um unsere Arbeit fortsetzen zu können!

Since 2018 we have been breeding Majorero donkeys, whose number doesn't exceed 250-300 on all the Canary Islands. Four foals have already been born on our finca.
Due to the ongoing drought in the past five years, we are forced to buy great amounts of additional fodder for our donkeys. Maintaining a donkey costs around 70€ a month (incl. vet, blacksmith, etc.).
We are happy about sponsors / donations of any amount to be able to keep up our work!

That's Mathilda, such a pretty Jenny!
She is the mom of Ingi
of Minnie, who had Billy, so Mathilda became a grandma. And I always tell her, you a such a pretty Jenny and you make such pretty donkeys.

Mathilda, que bonita, la jefa del equipo, ella es la madre de Ingi, de Minnie, que es la madre de Billy, asi que Mathilda se hizo abuela. Y cada día le digo qué bonita es y que todos los b***os que son decientes de ella también son guapos.

Mathilda, die Chefin, sie ist die Mutter von Ingi, von Minnie, die ja wiederum Billy geboren hat, so ist Mathilda ja schon eine Großmutter. Und ich sage ihr immer, da sie ja so hübsch ist, was für tolle Esel sie macht.

Ina with Ingi, in the back, and Billy, the foals that were born in the summer of 2022, and although Ingi is more than an year a half old, her mom, Mathilda has milk for her, usually foals get milk until they are about a year old.

Two weeks after Charly was born, Lilly, the mom, is now comfortable to let us touch her, but she is still not comfortable with the other donkeys coming too close.

Dos semanas desde que nació Charly, la madre Lilly, todavía está protejandola mucho, podemos acercarnos un poco al potro pero los demás b***os todavía no.

Zwei Wochen nach der Geburt dürfen wir Charly ein wenig näher kommen, aber Lilly, die Mama Eselin, lässt noch keine anderen Esel näher an Charlie heran.

This is Andy now. He is the father of Ingi, Billy and Charly. I still call him Baby Andy, and he loves it, because he was the first Majorero Donkey born here on El Hierro.

Let me tell you Andy's story.
His mom, Rocky, came with the other donkeys when we got them from Fuerteventura in September 2018, and she was pregnant.
Donkeys are pregnant for 12 up to 13 months.
Then in April 2019 Andy was born.
Here he is a few hours old. Jennies usually give birth just before dawn. hence when we arrived a perfect foal was there.

Ich werde euch Andys Geschichte erzählen. Als wir die Esel von Fuerteventura geholt haben im September 2028 , war auch Rocky, Andys Mammy dabei, trächtig. Eselinnen sind 12-13 Monate lang trächtig. Im April kam Andy zur Welt. Es war erst ein paar Stunden alt, als wir ihn sahen. Eselinnen gebären das Fohlen in den Morgenstunden, manchmal bei Vollmond, und, wenn man morgens auf die Finca kommt, dannt steht da ein perfektes neues Lebewesen. Viel zu lange Beine, plüschich, wie ein Steifftier, das sich bewegen kann, aber wie....
Was die Eselinnen da selber machen, mehr als chapeau!!!!!!

Les voy a contar la historia de Andy. Cuando trajemos los b***os de Fuerteventura en Septiembre 2018 había una burra prenada, Rocky, en Abril 2019, llegamos a la finca y estaba, él, Andy, un potro junto con la preciosa madre Rocky. Increible verlo la primera vez en su vida. Las burras están prenadas 12-13 meses, y claro cada día se estaba esperando el potro y un día está....

Curious Charly!
Lilly, the Jenny mom, is still very protective. Neither the other donkeys nor us are supposed to come close to Charly. That's the protective instinct to protect the foal. But, as we can see, each day the other donkeys or we as humans are allowed to come a little closer. And, as of my experience, in about one-two weeks Charly is allowed to fool around with everybody.
