🚨 EMERGENCY 🚨

Last night Apollo wasn’t feeling well, he became dehydrated and had general weakness. He could not get up and had a very low body temperature, as well as a runny nose. These symptoms are very serious, and it was necessary to go to the emergency room, where she received fluid therapy and injection as treatment.

Apolo was born at the gates of a car workshop in an industrial estate in León, where his mother and two of his brothers were killed before we could rescue him. Both he and his brother Kalu have scars all over their bodies. They have been very lucky, but since rescuing him, Apolo had to visit the vet several times due to his chronic health problems.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ Yesterday we spent all our emergency fund with Apolo, please we need a lot of help because from this moment we no longer have funds to go to the emergency room again, not even to buy the new prescription medications. Only with your help can we achieve it. We saved Apolo from a cruel death in the streets at the hands of evil people, and now he has a new opportunity in Garfi Animal Sanctuary. 💖 Tania is a full-time baby. It’s amazing to feel her energy and see her so happy in everything she does.

She is one of our special inhabitants, one that we constantly supervise. Despite having limited mobility because she is missing two legs, her vitality and desire to live are enormous, and she has learned to move with almost total autonomy, without the need for help, except for very specific things. She gets in and out of her bed and can walk on any surface without brushing her body against the ground.

Although she has a special trolley with wheels, she rarely uses it, since she feels more free without it. She also does controlled exercise that keeps her muscles in good shape, which in turn allows her to remain independent for almost everything. . The desire to live together with quality care and attention can work true miracles 🥰

This little girl lives inside the house along with sick cats, lambs, chickens, and roosters. In Garfi Animal Sanctuary there is always that special magic, and animals can live with each other in total harmony, forming a great multispecies and loving family 🐑🦃🐓🐔🐣🦆🕊🐈🐐🦔💖

Grandpa Bidduzzo has been keeping his promise since the cold began and he announced to all of us that he would live under a blanket until spring. Well, he still has a little left, so we'll see if the promise was only until spring, because we see him too comfortable and maybe he ends up extending the blanket season until next year 😻

Rita’s breakfast 🐔

Before she was born, Rita was condemned to suffer the consequences of genetics imposed by the industry to be a “machine” to produce eggs. The health problems of chickens are so many that it is difficult to list them all in a single post, however, what we can tell you is that at Garfi Animal Sanctuary we will do everything necessary for them.

Rita has been inside the house for a few days with a special diet and treatment. We decided to bring her inside her when one morning she wasn’t running as excited as usual for breakfast. Part of the job, and no less important, is to be very vigilant and have a “sixth sense” to know when there are animals that are not feeling well. Birds usually hide any symptoms of disease, so you have to observe them a lot to be able to act quickly.

Albin arrived at the sanctuary as a baby he was just a day or two old. He was one of our first rescues, and we are very proud of him. He is turning into quite a big, strong sheep, but he still has a very cute and special boyish disposition.

He’s been at the sanctuary for over a year, and while he’s quite active, when he wants cuddles, he lets you know and gets mad if you take too long to give them to him. That’s how beautiful life is for him. He can be who he wants without fear of anything.

Taking care of animals as vulnerable as Albin is very difficult, especially at an economic level, since Garfi Animal Sanctuary has so many expenses such as food, veterinarians, rent, bills, etc. Consider joining us as partners so that more special and vulnerable beings like him can have a long and happy life in the sanctuary 🙏

🐕 Bidduzzo is the grandpa of the sanctuary. A very sleepy canary hound who must be "forced" to do some exercise for her own health, because if we don't take he to do some movement, he would be sleeping under a blanket all day. The grandparents like him must be taken care of as much as possible.

It is very nice to see how he lives with all the other animals, like other dogs, cats, hens, roosters, turkeys, sheep and goats. Despite having been used for hunting, and discarded and abandoned when he lost two toes on one foot, his heart is so big that everyone can fit without exception.

Grandparents like him need a lot of attention and supervision. He can no longer get on and off the couch without help, and although sometimes he manages to do it, many other times he can't, and the risk of falling is high, so we always has eyes on him to help him.

One of the basic needs is heat, being so old (15 years old) he needs to be warm in these cold winters. Part of our funds are used to buy firewood that feeds the stove in the living room, our only heating. Can you help us buy more? 💕
