2023 started with a bang.!!

Khalila is back in full work and is coping very well. Always starting with a good warmup and then she is floating across the arena. Picked up some good condition over the December Holiday so also working hard to get rid of the extra weight and getting her back into proper showing condition😄🙈

We also welcomed two new faces to the Pearl Valley yard.
Luckily not my Grandkids😄😄

Paarl weather is not our friend during the summer time so we spend most of our time riding at 6 am to beat the heat🥵

Plans so far we have our first show coming up in March where we will be jumping 40/50 cm just to get her back into the ring and enjoy ourselves.

We will be tacking jumping slow this year as I don't want to push too much and risk something

Excited to see what the year brings us

Soo it’s been a while.

So the last couple of months it’s been quite a journey. From flying over jumps, winning Showing classes,having to say goodbye to one amazing coach all the way to finding out Khalila has to go for an operation 🙈

Long story short…We though she only sprained her fetlock as it was swollen and she was a little unsound ,but the longer the swelling stayed the more worried I got. Decided to get the vet out as it didn’t get any better. Did some x-rays,nerve blocks etc and turns out she has a chip in her fetlock🙈

In the last picture you will see the tiny piece of chip that they will need to remove.

We are still waiting to confirm the date for the surgery so in the meantime prinses is enjoying her days off with some ba****ck walks here and there and all the green grass😁

Know she will come back nice and strong after this and that we will be flying over those jumps soon enough again.

First Graded Jumping Show Done & Dusted😍

Khalila went flying around our 90cm course 🙌🏻 Didn’t even look at any of the jumps 😁Could not be prouder 💜

Here and there we did have some miss communication but it’s definitely something we can work on☝🏻 Still a long way to go but happy with where we are at😁

She is definitely a one in a million .!.!.!!
Could not be more grateful for for trusting me to bring up her beautiful baby and treating her as my own❤️and a massive thank you to for getting us where we are today, could not have done it without you🙌🏻 hours and hours of hard work is definitely paying off☝🏻

And how can I forget my support system 🙌🏻 Wouldn’t want anyone else next to the arena with me💜and the loving, supportive parents all the way back home❤️Blessed with the best

Western Cape Champs 2021 🏆

Here’s to one incredible weekend ☝🏻 2x First and 4x Seconds and that’s out of 7 classes we entered 😁

I could not have asked for a better horse. This whole weekend she was and absolute star 🌟 Standing still when needed, not spooking at anything (looking , but not spooky) and most of all staying clean when it counted most😂

From al the ups and downs we had this year (more downs than ups🙈)We definitely ended it on a high note, making all the hard days worth it😘

A big thank you to for getting us where we are today🙌🏻 Wiping down all the tears, getting up early mornings to beat the weather and most important of all, having all the patience in the world to be dealing with our special duo 🙈

A big thank you to everyone who came and supported me this weekend .It absolutely means the world to me and I can’t thank you enough 💜

And the biggest thank you to my parents ❤️Always being my number one supporters no matter what and no matter where😘 I love you too the moon and back❤️

Really excited to see what next year’s showing holds in store 😁

In the end ,we only regret the chances we didn’t take.

And this was an opportunity that I could not have said no to☝🏻

I wanted to wait until after my exam before I spilled the news. Even though a few people already knew but that’s just because I told them in person 🤫🤫

From next month on I will be join this breathtaking places team. Val de Vie Estate is best known for being South Africa’s most secure luxury lifestyle estate and of course for their polo🐴🐴

What most people don’t know is that they also have a riding school. And as of the first of December I will become one of their Instructors 😁😁

As per usual, wherever I go…Khalila goes🙌🏻 Don’t think she will know what hit her walking into this place😂 One of the things we will definitely be doing is going on the track that they have around the riding school, might just die but it’s fine😂😂🙈

Very excited for this next chapter in our life and can’t wait to see where this adventure takes us😁

All focus on WC Champs happening the 20& 21st of Nov and then we will grab this new chapter with both hands🙌🏻

Can’t believe it’s already that time of the year😱
This time next week we will be ticking off yet another exam😁

To think there was a time that it almost felt impossible 🙈Something you think to your self how is it still possible or how can you keep doing this?? You just have to hold on to those good days and push through, it’s not always gonna rain☝🏻

We still have a lot of preparation to do (as you can see) mostly on my side to build the conference again , but there has already been a big improvement compared to last week so we can definitely do this🙌🏻

B.T.W why does she make 90cm look so small??

Is not a question of if….It’s a question of when?

Every horse rider knows the risk of getting in the saddle, yet we still choose to ride.

Deep down we all have the fear of falling off, yet we set it aside because off all the days we do stay on and for that feeling that you are flying 🧚🏼‍♀️

And when the day comes ,when you do fall off .You just hope and pray that’s not bad. As every Equestrian knows is either you get back on the horse or you go to hospital.

This time around it was the hospital for me🙈After getting back on track and Khalila doing soooo nicely, we took a step back again🙈

In all of the years I have been riding,never could I say I have broken a bone, but now I am halfway there😂🙈
Luckily not a broken nose bit definitely a nice fractured one😂

Second picture was Sunday and the last two was from today🙈Swelling is going down so the blue/ purple/ yellow is really starting to make my eyes pop😂😂 My lower lip is still really swollen but the cut is starting to heal really nicely 🙌🏻
Laughing about it now is just a way of dealing with the battle scars😁🙈

Even if I did walk away with a few scars, I am ever so grateful because I know it could have been much worse 🙌🏻

Yet knowing all the risks and wearing all the battle scars, I would not choose anything over this sport 💜 I might fall ,but I promise you I will always get back on again😁

First Ride after being locked away for 2 weeks Done and Dusted 😁🙌🏻
One thing…Covid is no joke🙈

On the other hand I am so proud of this little monkey 💜She behaved soooo nicely ,Probably the best she has ever behaved 🙈🙈A big thanks to and for keeping her fit and working out the beans😂😁

The lesson went much better than I thought 🙈I thought I would be dead tired by the 2de trot circuit but surprisingly not🙌🏻But that doesn’t me I should go running a marathon now😂(not that I run)🙈
Still taking things slow not to risk anything 🙌🏻

Proud is a huge understatement 😍

First ever meter jump today for this little munchkin ❤️And she did it making it look like nothing 🥺

Even though I wanted to stop the lesson halfway through because she gave mini heart attacks and just kept running into jumps🙈I’m glad we realized that she does not like a Gag at all and prefers her snaffle much more🎉🎉
Oooo and that she doesn’t like small jumps 😂70cm and higher she is much happier 🙌🏻and so is her rider😁

Stardust the flying Appaloosa🛫
Really really enjoy jumping this horse😍
Was really nice having a proper jumping lesson again in I don’t know how long🙈 and jumping a bit higher than 80🙈even tho it doesn’t look like it on the video😂🙈

We had a few sharp turns that I am not use to😂 but luckily I stayed on and fixed it before the next jump🙌🏻This horse is VERY quick with his feet😁🙈
Yes I know my position and riding needs improvement,but that’s what lessons and training are for. No one is perfect 100% of the time🙌🏻

Proud is a understatement ❤️

This little munchkin made me soooo proud yesterday .!.!
We rode our first Dressage tests yesterday and we placed in both of them😁 That will definitely not be our last dressage test, onto the next level as well🙌🏻

And as per usual, the showing queen strutted her stuff and won both of her showing classes 😁😍 We only did Best trot and working riding as I wanted to take things easy after all the things that has happened and do a little bit of dressage as well☝🏻And I could have not ask for a better show to bring her back🙌🏻

This girl is definitely a show horse, loves showing off and letting people know she is there to win, always gives a 150% at shows no matter how big or small the show is❤️She is definitely going places☝🏻

Next weekend we are of to Mistico for our first Graded show for the year again 🙌🏻But don’t tell her that otherwise she will find a way to get out of it😂🤫🤫

And also a big Thank you to for reading my test and always supporting me a 110%❤️

And how can I forget for putting up with all our shenanigans 🙈The improvements you have made in the last couple of weeks is absolutely amazing.
Not only is it doing her good but helping me understand a lot more about the horse and how important it is to always be relaxed when riding 🙌🏻

Today was a good day😁
All fancy in her new Saddle 😍

After nearly 2 month of not being able to ride properly, today I could finally have a proper ride,without her going full on mare😁🎉

Long story short, Madam decided to grow as big as an Elephant within a few week causing my Tekna to no long fit🙈🙈And having to buy a hole new saddle.....And what a mission that was🤦🏼‍♀️

Luckily ONE of the Thirteen I had fitted, fitted her🙈🙈
Now I truly understand the meaning of poorly fitted tack and all the damages it can cause to your horse☝🏻

Let the shopping begin as all my tack needs to change to brown as I now own a brown saddle 🙈(and all my tack my hole life has been black)🙈

This boy of mine deserves more than just a story❤️

My hart breaks into a million pieces, thousands of tears are storming down my face just having to post this💔

How do you say goodbye to your best friend for the last 7 years? How do you fill a big empty space in your hart? How do you forget all the good times you spent together?
Truth is ,it’s just not physically possible.

My beautiful, gorgeous, kind hearted, sweetest, bravest BG boy💗
It’s not easy letting you go. It’s not easy thinking that I will never share a special moment with you again 💔

I’m just happy that I could have loved you for the last couple of years ❤️ In that short amount of time you have learned me so much.
You showed me what it meant to fly 💗
You showed me how to trust a 600kg animal with it’s own mind and that has enough power to kill you, too trust you with my hole life ❤️

From that first ride together I knew (and I think you did too) that we where a match made in heaven ❤️ Not one day ,even with all you problems (story for a different day) did you throw me off or even tried to.
You always made me feel safe❤️

You are now free of pain. May you jump all those fences in heaven with a smile on your face and run that open green grass field with Didi and play like you did down here🥰

Thank you for adopting Khalila and every other foal you have ever taken care off and making them your own💗Best Foster Dad ever❤️

Very Very Exciting News🎉.

I’m very proud to announce that I am officially part of the team🎉

Now I no longer have to plan when I want to go see my baby girl,because I now get to see her at WORK all day everyday 😱🎉(not literally everday but still😂)

I will be a part time instructor and Trail Guide 🎉
I am super happy to be part of the team and can’t wait to see where the future takes me,my baby girl and the Yard🙌🏻

First ride for 2021 Done & Dusted 🙌🏻

Madam picked up a LOOTTT of weight over the holidays 🙈(not that I am complaining) but it did felt like I was sitting on a full breed Percheron🙈 Guess those jeans are starting to come in pretty nicely now😁🎉

Thanks to and there amazing team for looking after her while I was away🙌🏻
Best yard ever💗

I also thought out of the two of us I would be the one that would be unfit 😂🙈I thought wrong....She was already huffing and puffing after a trot ONCE around the arena 🙈🙈
We didn’t do much as both of us (her more that me😂) are a little bit unfit....did little bits of trot and a canter on each rein☝🏻
We also took a little walk and Khalila was just checking what her little mini me was doing and watching the big heard play😁 After the ride I gave her a little bit of a hose down and she took a really nice long roll afterwards 😁

She also lost a bit of muscles,but that’s just because she didn’t work as much as she is use too. Luckily that is also something she picks back up quickly 🎉🎉

Now 2021 can get started 🎉Let hope this year will be good to us and we can compete much more than last year🤞🏻

I could not have asked for a better horse in my life❤️

After a very hard and difficult year ,lots of difficult training sessions at home ,Injuries ,Colic ,Viruses,Covid and all the other things we ended on a very good note 🎉
Even though we didn’t make it to all the Championships we gained a lot of experience and realize what our strong points are and what we must work on for next year 🎉

We placed in all of our Pools and made it to Championships in Best Trot where we walked away with a 5th🎉

Thanks to Stellenbosch District Riding Club and Western Cape Showing for hosting one incredible show.

Thanks to my parents for making everything possible, moral support,driving endless kilometers after us , getting up at 3 am to start turning out and so much more❤️

Thanks to Karen Greyvenstein Van Tonder for blessing me with this amazing horse💗I promise even when you are millions of miles away I will care and love her for the both of us❤️

I really have been blessed with one amazing horse😍

This past weekend we competed in Showing show🎉And what a successful weekend it was🙌🏻
Even though I got planted twice (in the same class ,in a distance of 20 meters apart🙈) I could not be happier of how it went🎉🙌🏻

Walking away with 2x Second places (Best Trot and Newcomers Working Riding) 💗

A weekend like this really makes all the bad days worth wild🙈And we had a lot of those,including lockdown, Colic ,Horse Virus and a lot of paddock wars that have been lost😂🙈

It was also our very first show together ,first indoor show ,our first outside show of the year and my first show back in almost 2 years.
She could not have handelde it beter💗

Not to brag....but she will definitely be one to be looking out for😏

Then vs Now

Just look how fast they grow up😢

Here are some photos from when my little munchkin was still a baby , all the way to being a rotten spoiled child today😘

Her baby photo’s was taken by her Mom . How cute was she😍 (and still is) ?

Our first riding photo is just after she has been backed and started her schooling .

The one of us over the pole on the ground is at a little training show at her then stable yard. We also did the 20/30 cm class along with Working Riding , best walk and best trot (if I can remember correctly 😂🙈)

The one of her all dressed up in her pretty blue colors is a photo I took of the past weekend in-house show at Silvermist where we did the 20/30 cm and 50 cm jumping class that both went really really well🎉🎉🎉

And the very last photo is my Mom riding her when they came and visited me two weekends ago....So proud of the both of them💗Khalila behaved herself really really well considering she is a mare and have her days😝 and of my Mom who haven’t ridden since her knee operation 😘

This horse keeps amazing me with every canter stride😍and just keep climbing deeper and deeper into everyone’s hearts 😍
she isn’t coming home any time soon 😂💗

Finally some jumping videos 🎉
Here is some videos of my 2 previous jumping lessons.

Lesson on Friday we jumped 60 cm and on Saterday 50/60 cm.

We worked on rhythm,striding and building he confidence over jumps🎉
She is still learning but very impressed with giving her 110% every time❤️

Can’t wait to see what we are going to accomplish in the future. I think it’s save to say “All Rounder “ in the making ☝🏻

And how can I make a video and not add a liitle Khalila “buck” playing at the end😂

One Week Update

So Khalila has been at home for one week now and she is doing absolutely amazing 🎉

She is back on all her normal feed and roughage and handeling everything very well. I lunged her twice this week and had no problem, walked her every day and had a bit of a working riding course yesterday (today you could really see she is 100% herself and ready to fall back into full training).

She will be getting off this weekend due to the cold front we are getting and apparently we are expecting a lot of rain over the weekend🙈
So we will get back to work as soon as the sun shines again🌞

🎉Khalila Update🎉

After we visited her on Monday she only got beter and beter🎉

Yesterday she was off the feeding tube,drip and was allowed to stand outside in a paddock and allowed to eat the grass in the paddock.

They started her on small amounts of roughage every 4 hours today to see how she copes and luckily it was smooth sailing the hole day🎉.
Tonight they will give her full feed to see what happens.

If all goes well during the knight and tomorrow morning the Vet will phone me and then she gets to go home🎉🙏🏻

She will only be allowed roughage for the next week still and from then on we can start introducing small amounts of Concentrates over a few days☝🏻

The first week I will only be allowed to walk her in the paddock and a few min in the arena(riding). Then we can start slowly building up her fitness agian🎉

!!!!!!Caution!!!!!!!!

Get ready to read🙈

So on our way back to Khalila yesterday after not seeing her for over 2 and a half months I received a phone call that every equestrian never wants to hear🙈 Khalila started showing symptoms of Cholic🙈I received that call about 4 pm yesterday. Nika ( owner) called out the Vet ( ) to come and have a check.
When she phoned me to explain what is going on,it wasn’t good at all💔She did a re**al exam and her gut has shifted 🙈and is not sitting in the correct position.

We decided to first treat her at the yard and check if she gets any better. Round about 9:30 pm Nika phoned again and said she is not getting any beter and that they need to rush her to the Hospital.( She had someone with a horse-box on stand-by if it came to this) So they rushed her to where she was treated by Dr Niel.

He took some scans and also did a re**al exam again with some blood tests. The gut was definitely miss placed and there was fluids where there isn’t supposed to be🙈We had to make a difficult decision where if she doesn’t get any beter they need to operate (Between 50 and 80K)💔Unfortunately we don’t have that kind of money nor does our insurance cover that much,so she had to be treated medically as far as they could. This all happened about 12 pm last night while we where still on our way to her🙈

We arrived at her about 3 pm this afternoon to check on her and hear what is going on. He said that she did Colic a bit earlier that morning again but just before we arrived she started to manure again and it is looking good.She was on a drip to keep her from dehydration and on a feeding tube to give her fluids and flush her gut. But he said after that they definitely are on the right track.

We are praying for a full recovery and that it only gets beter from here on out🙏🏻🙏🏻
