Howdy, howdy everyone!
Here on the farm, we have four types of Wandering Dude otherwise known as "The Wandering Jew plant" (Internet please don't revoke this post, that's what the plant has been called for decades!)
I have starts of two types readily available, and I can make starts from the other varieties this Winter.
If you'd like a great, easy, starter plant that will readily vine and doesn't need very much care, these are great for that.
Inside with plenty of light throughout the cooler months, outside as soon as the temps are over 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Water when completely dry.

These starts will be $4 per start, the others will be $6 per start.
Please bear with me as I sn**ch some images from online and edit to add in my own at a later date.

Thank you!!!

Hey, Y'all!
A wonderful thing happened the other day and I just need to share it with you.
I became a certified Master Gardener about 18 months or so ago after years of having the skills and such and the history with the Local Master Gardeners (and finishing my class/course).
And then I was awarded a bronze star award for 100+ volunteer hours after Master Gardener Certification.
It was an absolute surprise, despite knowing the hours I've input. I think I just completely forgot about the awards honors. 😅😂

I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunities I am able to reach for with the knowledge I've gained and continue to earn with this wonderful association.

So thank you, East Alabama Master Gardeners Association and The Alabama Extension Office.

Thank you.

Brand New Product Alert!
I created a new product, Peach Vidalia Chutney this week, and it is very tasty.
Here's a basic rundown:
This wonderful Chutney is made with South Carolina Freestone Peaches from a local farmer's market, homegrown lemon jalapenos and green jalapenos, and Vidalia Onions straight from Vidalia Georgia.

It pours and spreads like a thick but nice fruit butter with peach tang and sweetness, followed by the lift of the savory Vidalia onion and a nice low heat from the jalapenos that doesn't linger.

Only available in an 8 oz jar for a limited time.

For those of you who see this post, ask me about a coupon code for this item only for a limited time.

We have a winner for the giveaway!
I have notified Ms. Jeannie so that she may notify our winner.
I purposely do not share names to protect a person's privacy as much as I can.

We will be taking a break from giveaways until further notice due to Market Season opening for the year, and for some time for our family to grieve the sudden loss of two family members in the last three months.
On this important note, we will still be directing donations and important updates on Needful Things for the Animal Rescues we support and help us do the Good Things that we do for the animals we care for.

The Country Cattery in Birmingham, AL The Country Cattery is in need of help with Kitten Season already upon us.
Albert's Dog Lounge Albert's Dog Lounge is currently in need of food, and other supplies that all rescues need.
Big (and small) Dog Rescue Ranch is also in need of regular rescue supplies and everything an animal rescue needs for daily operations.
And as always, we are always in need of funds for our local vet who graciously helps us care for all of the animals we are giving better, healthier opportunities in their lives.
Main Street Animal Hospital in Roanoke, AL. Ask for the charge account for Jeannie Volpe for the Dogs.

Do you have a chocolate fan in your family, squad, or group?
They would probably love this Chocolate Cherry Jam, for sure.

Made from fresh (pitted!) cherries from our local markets, slow simmered and blended with cocoa powder, a little bit of sugar, lemon juice, and all fruit pectin; this wonderful jam plays well with many different dishes.
Most of our customers eat it straight from the jar with a spoon, others pour it over yogurt or ice cream, or with cheesecake.
I've even had someone tell me they added it to their bagel with cream cheese!

This recipe is available while supplies last as I only make 3-4 batches per year.
As of this post on March 14, 2024 I have 8 oz jar available. I will be restocking this recipe by June 2024. Please check back frequently for updates on restocks and new flavors.

A good seasonal favorite... well, that's incorrect.
A year-round favorite for the Pepper Jelly lovers all over is our Cranberry Pepper Jelly.
Dried cranberries soaked in juice and apple cider vinegar, then slow simmered with farm fresh or fresh from frozen bell peppers and jalapeno peppers. A low amount of sugar and all fruit pectin are added as well.

Delicious on chicken sandwiches, with crackers and cheese of your choice, or with leftover turkey during holidays to spice up your leftovers.
It's also my personal favorite of the pepper jellies in our collection of recipes.

I feel like this recipe is about two notches above the Apricot Jalapeno with Honey in the Heat, but definitely Mild in spice.

There's just something sweet and calming about Sundays...
I deliver eggs to an elderly friend while she's in the church service (we used to attend before Grandpa Partin couldn't go anymore), and she never fails to call me before bedtime every evening.
She's always so proud and happy to have her eggs waiting for her after church, and never (and I mean NEVER) fails to remind me of such, and to check in on our family. It always warms me up a little to hear her praise.

I will always, ALWAYS, make sure Ms. Mary Francis has her two dozen fresh eggs every other Sunday, for as long as I can do so.

Pay it forward, and share the love of friendship everywhere you go.

What's a better way to start the day than a beautiful sunrise?
Sunrise Jam, that is!

Our Sunrise Jam or Jelly is comprised of pineapples, oranges, carrots, and grapes.
This recipe gives a rather nice punch of Vitamin C and delicious slightly acidic flavors with just a little something different for your morning toast, or that midday sandwich.
(We've even had it with just crackers and it was lovely!)

This flavor is on the list to be retired this year, so if you'd like to order some, please send us a message or call us. Current inventory of Sunrise Jam as of March 2024 is ONE 8 oz jar.

Another locally grown and lovingly popular flavor we offer is our Blackberry Jam.
I use fresh and often fresh from frozen berries and slow cook these as I was taught by my family. I cook these low and slow before adding a small amount of sugar and natural pectin to the pan before adding to the jars.

Blackberry jam is in our regular line of flavors we offer year round, and often as long as supplies allow.
If you are interested in purchasing, there is a website lInk posted as well.

Let's start the warm season off with something tasty and a touch of warm spiciness, shall we?

Allow me to reintroduce our Apricot Jalapeno with (Local) Honey Pepper Jelly.
This jelly is blended smooth with apricots, apple cider vinegar, home grown jalapeno peppers, and locally harvested honey. It is very smooth with very tame and mild heat making it an excellent accompaniment to cream cheese and crackers, or late afternoon sandwiches with friends.

I personally recommend it for those who want to try a pepper jelly without worrying about too much heat from peppers. This is a sweet pepper jelly, not a super hot pepper jelly.

A tip from this small farmer with chronic pain...
Create your own Inflammation Struggle Soup.
What's that, you ask?
This is a mix of the herbs grown on our farm to help handle my daily pain levels from work, or injuries from daily life (or when I just need a boost!)

I grind up a mixture of Basil (sweet), Rosemary, Green Onion (powder, for flavor), Garlic (dry ground), Thyme, Parsley (also good for the heart and mostly flavorless), and occasionally add in Ground Fennel (to settle nerves and stomach), and add all of it to boiling water or broth for soup or pasta.
Adding Oregano (any variety) will deepen the flavor overall, and add strength to the inflammation resistance of the consumer.

The natural inflammation fighting elements of these herbs work better together and makes for a more flavorful profile. You can add them directly ro the pot, or you can use a reusable tea ball, the choice is yours.
