So Ms Harper and I have an announcement to make!
After several months and never the right fit and several discussions with her owner, it has been decided that Ms Harper will be coming home with me today and spending her time with my pack and I! We will continue with her training, hiking and adoing new friends to her circle , slowly and carefully! If at some point the perfect fit comes along for her we will take that one step at a time but over the last couple of months I have seen the potential in this girl and I really want to work with her and watch her grow as much as she can for now!
So we thank everyone that shared her story , she certainly had a tremendous amount of support!
So now we move onward and upward!! ❤️❤️

So this happened this weekend! When we got done with our dog class on Fridays Ms Harper comes home with me, I decided to give her a trial run at living in a home for the weekend. I had a very low activity/ maintenance weekend and decided to see how she would be! And boy I’ve got lots of great tidbits to share!
She is completely housebroken and I’d like me you’ve had older and smaller dogs for a very long time- this is huge!!
She loves to hide and then bark at her treats!
She sleeps thru the night mostly- one exception last night and I think it was something crawling around outside because 2 of the pups got woken up!
She is learning restraint, one step at a time- right now she has to wait to get at her food bowl before she is released to eat- honestly I think that is her biggest struggle- she’s a bill in a China shop most of the time! But improving by leaps and bounds!
She loves and I mean LOVES to hike and we have been able to get out every day, which we both need!
We’ve been able to do more in-depth training and yesterday we did our 1st 15 minute heel while out working! I couldn’t get video beause I was so focused!
And we found a safe somewhat secure area to practice our “come “ command!
I have not introduced her to my pack as I have to return her to the kennel next week so no point in doing double duty! And no rush to have things go south!
She is still looking for her forever home and I know now for sure she would be a fabulous project for some one who is looking for a dog that will repay them in duplicate with her love and gratitude! She still has some way to go but she’s proven to be a willing student and takes her training to heart!

So I’ve learned a couple more things about Ms Harper- since we started basic training class , she comes to stay at my house on Friday nights which is great because I get to see her in somewhat of a home setting! She is still isolated from my pack- they are kind of bitchy so for everyone’s sake Harper has her own space right off my kitchen!
Here is what I’ve observed over the last 2 weeks so far:
She is completely housebroken!- yeah!
She likes to hide her treats
She settled in last night and I didn’t hear a peep out of her until the pack and I came down this am!
She does speak up when she thinks she wants something but she is learning to settle in and that she can’t always get what she wants - patience my little cute friend - patience!
We are off this am to deliver some pet food and then a walk and some training practice !!

Ms Harper had a great night in class, her handler (me) wasn’t so sharp but she makes me look good 😁! Tonight we worked on sit/stay, down/stay and heel!! Then she cozied up with Michael McGrath of MJObedience for a couple of moments, got past those crazy big dogs outside and curled up for the ride home!
She is now in the palace here at my house and this last pic is my 2 big dogs reaction to her being on the house! The chi chis are pi**ed but they will get over it !! Good night for all

It’s been a couple of days since Ms Harper and I got together , so today we are trying to get in a bit of everything- a walk, some naked chewy time and training! It’s a lot to accomplish in a few short hours!! But we can do this!! Tomorrow we have basic dog obedience at obedience with Michael McGrath and she’s working on being the star of the day!!

So today Ms Harper had a big adventure - so it was a balancing act between getting her out of the kennel, getting her some exercise and downtime before she started her first of 6 weeks basic obedience at MJObedience with Michael McGrath! We decided to try this because two of her dog walking friends could also get together at the same time on Friday nights! So now she is trying to settle into her crate in my spare room!

So day 2 of walking with Fast Eddie Joanne Hennebury and both dogs did a great job- initial meet n greets are not being done nose to nose but rather by simply walking near, around or by and it seems to be helping! A bit of butt sniffing occurred yesterday- yeah!! I think Ms Harper has another dog in her pack!!

So some exciting news for Harper- she’s about ready to start a 6 week training class at MJObedience and a prerequisite of the class was to be able to be around the other participants in that class- it’s going to be a small class of 3 dogs and their owners!
So today we introduced her to Eddie Hennebury of the Joanne Hennebury heathens! Since both dogs are fear based and reactive - we kept them at a distance for the first mile, then we gave them chances to get closer , trying to find each dogs trigger!
I am thrilled to say that Ms Harper did not bark once- she was interested but not out of control- so there is a series of videos that I’m going to put out to show just how far our girl is coming!! Her forever home is out there and we will have her primed and ready when that person comes along!

Spring is coming and I know there is someone out there who needs a walking, sniffing , fun loving buddy!
Harper is 4.5 yrs old, fantastic in the car, loves long walks in the park, beach, woods etc.
She is very food and treat motivated. She is great in a crate or a kennel.
She’s a tad bit high energy right now but she’s been in boarding for some time! She gets out twice a day almost 6 days a week for now and we are finding that helps, can’t blame her- I wouldn’t want to be stuck in a kennel!
She loves the snow- and ice- I mean LOVES- will roll in the snow!
She’s got pizzazz and attitude so she’s only meant for the strong willed lol!
Harper cannot be with children nor with other animals at this time but she has peacefully co existed with a male dog and lately she’s been walking with both male and female non reactive pups of all sizes !
Harper comes with 2 private sessions with MJObedience and also a PD for 6 week basic training TBD by her new owner and Michael McGrath!
There is an application, a required home visit, vet check and several meet n greets!!
Ms Harper would be IDEAL for someone looking to rehab a dog and I truly believe the love that you would get from investing time and energy into her will come back to you endlessly!!
