I took a Lyft for the first time to pick up my car from the dealership. Halfway through the ride, the driver received a call through the car's system—it was about his own car, which was about to be repossessed. He quickly took the call off the system and told the person on the line he could pay it in two weeks. From my own experience, I knew that when a car reaches repo status, they usually don’t want to hear promises of future payments.

I asked him a few questions to understand his situation and then made a decision. I called the bank and paid off his account. Seeing that young man cry overwhelmed me, and I ended up in tears too. He never asked for help, which made the moment even more meaningful. I’m so glad I could help from the heart, not for attention.

Before I left, I told him, “Some of the best people, including me, have been where you are. Keep going—better things are coming.” It’s a true blessing to be able to help someone in need.

Here’s a great dog, being fostered by a neighbor of mine in Rancho Mirage, still looking for her forever home. Do you have room in your hearts and home for the special girl? If not, please share.
