Trick or treat! 🎃Everyone is getting into the Halloween spirit, and I have a few quick reminders on how to make this Halloween fun and safe for everyone! 👻 (also check out my favorite pet costumes in the link in my bio!)

🍫 Chocolate is toxic to dogs and cats. Make sure you keep your candy out of their reach, and offer them a high-value treat that’s safe for them instead.
🕸 Strange noises, uncomfortable costumes and doorbell ringing can stress out your pet. Try to keep them in a quiet area of your house with some TV, toys or other distractions.
🌙 It can be tricky to spot a runaway pet when it is dark outside. Keep your pet’s tags and ID’s on them in case they run out of the door when greeting trick-or-treaters.

Most of all, be sure to have fun and enjoy the holiday (and, send me your best puppy costume pics – I can’t get enough of them!)

Cat or small panther? 🐈‍⬛ This big boy came in to see me for his annual exam today. Maine c***s are the largest domestic cat breeds and can reach over 20 pounds! They’re known as the gentle giants of the cat breeds as their owners describe them as more dog-like than cat-like a lot of the time.

Holding my girl as she woke up from anesthesia/surgery today❤️Friendly reminder to clean your dog’s teeth every year‼️ Hers were pretty clean and I thought we were only going to have to pull one tooth…well we got in there and 7 needed to come out, two of which had abscesses on the roots. 🦷 The teeth looked perfect otherwise. Even as I vet I didn’t realize the extent of her dental disease. Don’t neglect your pets teeth! 🐶

I think now would be a good time to re-introduce myself because I see I have a lot of new followers recently 💗 (so glad you guys are loving the nail trim reel so much, part 2 coming soon 😜).

My name is Dr. Robinson (Vet Lo for short). I have been a small animal veterinarian for 4 years now. 🐾 I always knew I wanted to be a vet since I was a little girl. 👧

I was lucky to grow up in a family who all loved animals so they were in my life constantly. 🐶 I really believe the quote “until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened”. 💫

I love helping animals and have zero regrets picking this profession even though some days are really frickin hard. I have a rescue pup named Jessi who is now 14 😳 You can see her featured all over my profile. I found her on the street when she was a pup and she comes to work with me every day. 🥰

I am the oldest of 3. I majored in biology in college and worked at an animal hospital for a year before I got into vet school. In my spare time, I love to read, workout, get outside and see friends and family. ☀️

💕 I had a birthday that just passed and the craziest thing to think about was that this girl has been with me through almost half of my life. My birthday wish this year was just that you make it to the next one. My heart already hurts knowing I’ll have to do this life without you at some point. I love you my girl 🌸 so much it hurts.

My senior girl 💖 Not a day goes by that I don’t think about how lucky I am to have had so many years with her. 😊
I feel so blessed that she’s 14 and a half and is still astonishingly healthy with just some arthritis that I manage with diet, supplements and medications. 💊
She’s been with me through so many chapters of life and comes to work with me every day. 👩🏼‍⚕️ My eyes well with tears thinking about the love we share. A love I know I will eventually have to live without, as I see in my job every day. I am so lucky to still have you with me baby girl🫶🏻

One year Jess got out on the Fourth of July and I didn’t find her for 5 days. I thought she was gone forever. I found her 8 miles across town at our old house we had just moved from 3 months earlier. She had found her way back there. 🙏🏼

The 4th of July for dogs isn’t all fun and games for our pets: Did you know that roughly 45% of dogs suffer from a phobia of fireworks? I worked with the team at to compile our top tips for making the holiday weekend as pleasant as possible for your pooch. Every dog is unique and reacts differently to different techniques, so try a few of these options for calming your dog during fireworks:

1. Desensitization training (exposing them to similar sounds ahead of time)
2. Creating a relaxing, safe space for them
3. Keeping them securely inside your home
4. Show affection but don’t praise their fear
5. Divert their attention in a calm way without over-stimulation
6. Try soothing them with a treat like Sustainable Jerky Treats

Have you recently added a new four-legged member to your family or thinking about doing so? 🐾

Puppies are a big responsibility but also very exciting. I worked with the team at to share an essential new puppy check list.

1.Visit your Vet – within the 1st week, get all the advice you can!

2.Socialization – doggie daycare is a great option once fully vaccinated.

3.Puppy Food – Canidae’s Sustain Puppy Formula is my favorite.

4.Training – Crate training helps with potty training and teaching basic commands are a great start.

5.Spay/Neuter – It is a choice, but most vets recommend it for most dogs.

This guy is a Great Pyrenees, one of the oldest breeds that exists. They’re so old, they’ve been fossilized!! They were bred to be livestock guard dogs and are known for being gentle giants (as pictured here 🥰)
