Brittanie, Mugsy, and Arnie here! 👋🏼
I can't help but to make a quick post about Mugsy and Arnie's adventure today and how proud I am of my boys! We went to a middle school classroom to teach the kids about pigs and their care. We visited an art class, some kids were too excited to draw the pigs and just wanted to love on them (understandable!) but a few kids drew some really great pig artwork! 🎨
Mugsy (white pig) and Arnie (black pig) were a hit at school, I think it was the first time most of the kids and teachers have had the opportunity to interact with pigs! Hopefully we have a few new pig lovers in the community! 🐽💛

🐽Meet Tootsie and Pumba! This bonded pair was taken in by their current caretaker, helped to get down to a healthier weight and they are now looking for their forever home. Tootsie is the female (white on her face). She is spayed and approximately 4 years old. Pumba is the male (all black). He is neutered and approximately 2 years old.
Their caretaker has said that they are very sweet, give hot pants when they get to interact with you and will roll over for belly rubs 🥰 Tootsie gets very enthusiastic about meal time (who doesn't?!) but hasn't tried to bite anyone.

His family would like to find him a home where he can have more time to roam free! He is Neutered! He uses a doggy door to go in and out of the house. He has lived indoors all his life but loves to graze and sunbathe outside. 🌞

⚠️These 3 little pigs need a new home by January 13th. Their owner is ill and has to travel out of state for care for long periods of time 😥
🐽Meet Skynnerd, Izzy, & Flash. Skynnerd & Izzy are bonded but flash isn't
Skynnerd is about 4 years of age, very mellow, great with kids, & loves veggies, belly rubs. He actually did very well as a solo pig for a long time but when Izzy came around she bonded to him.
Izzy is about 2 years of age & very friendly but she takes a little while to warm up but once she does, she will lay right in front of you asking for belly rubs & veggies. She loves to feel like the boss to Skynnerd but it works because he is very docile.
Flash is our white/pink pot belly. He loves to play as he's only about 1-2 years of age. He prefers to be the dominant pig but settled in our hiarchy . He will compete for it initially but he's a sweet boy.
All the pigs are potty trained, they prefer being outside, can sit & spin on command. They do best away from dogs (like most pigs) but are so very gentle & loving to their humans. They are all spayed & neutered.

🌟 He was adopted as a piglet and has been with his current family since. He is a 6 1/2 year old neutered male. He's an indoor/outdoor pig and uses the dog door. He's good with other animals, kids and likes to be around people. He comes when you call him, sits, spins and sits up. Hooves and tusks trims done regularly and he's in very good health. He eats a very healthy diet of veggies and pellets. Due to unforeseen circumstances his family can't have him anymore and would like to find him a loving home. He will come with his extra large dog crate.

🚗🚗TRANSPORTATION HELP NEEDED! 🚗🚗
San Tan Valley to Buckeye, AZ
Raymond has found himself an awesome foster home in Buckeye but needs a lift there! He's currently in San Tan Valley at his temporary foster's home and will need to be driven to Buckeye.
Raymond will be in a 30" wire crate ready to go on his trip. The crate can be left with the foster in Buckeye so no need to drive back to San Tan Valley to return it. He must be driven inside of your vehicle!
The best day for him to go to his foster would be TOMORROW (Wednesday) or Friday at the latest, his foster will be home by 6:30pm on those two days so his drop off will need to be 6:30pm or later. Since Ray is currently having to be crated most of the time, we want him to get to his foster home as soon as possible so that he can get all the free time to stretch his legs and do pig things!

UPDATE: Raymond has found a foster home 🐽
🚨 🚨 EMERGENCY FOSTER HOME STILL NEEDED! 🚨🚨
Raymond is enticed by windows and is trying to jump through the 2nd story window (boar behavior that will go away once neutered). This has become a safety issue for Raymond and has caused the team member to have to crate him unless he's supervised. He has to stay separated from the other pigs there because there's a few who are not yet spayed. You get the general idea of this predicament. It's unfair for Raymond to have to be crated for very long periods of time but we're out of options. This was a spur of the moment rescue mission and often we jump in first with our hearts to save the pigs and try to sort the logistics out afterwards, this is that situation!
What we know about Raymond; he's pretty young, intact (not neutered), and is becoming quite social with people and really pleasant to be around! He was a stray that was caught on Sunday by a team member and her pig, Arnie! 🐽 He does well in a crate and is using a litterbox/ potty pad flawlessly. He's beyond adorable with his wrinkly face and body, plus he has frosted tips- the kid has style! 😂 We will get him neutered and of course take care of the expenses of his surgery and medical costs once he's placed in a foster home.

It takes a village but we got these two pigs safely to their foster homes yesterday and today! Huge thanks to Lauren Johnson-Burton and her husband for dropping everything today and going out and picking up the female, who she named Clover! 🍀
Also, huge thanks to Becky Denny for going out yesterday to pick up the little boy! We're so grateful that she went by a few times to feed the pigs, even late at night!
Another huge thanks to Bonnie and Tom with The Backyard Barnyard Sanctuary for taking Clover in last minute as a temporary foster, no questions asked! We're beyond grateful!
Last but definitely not least, so many thanks to our very own amazing team member Jess Norton and her awesome partner Bry! They opened up their home to this little boy until he makes his way to Ironwood Pig Sanctuary!

AZ Rescue Team Saving Pig’s Lives
AZ Piggy Network has been created as a collaborative effort between Better Piggies Rescue and Ironwood Pig Sanctuary to make a difference in the lives of pigs across the state of Arizona. The alarming numbers of abandoned, abused, neglected, surrendered and stray pigs continue to grow and multiply every day, leaving our sanctuaries and rescues struggling to make room and available homes at or above capacity. With no relief in sight, a team of dedicated rescuers have come together to assist the community with re-homing, adopting, fostering, placement, vetting and transport in and attempt to keep pigs out of sanctuaries, rescues, shelters and in the safety of loving homes.
In addition to our rescue efforts, we have a team of pig educated and experienced people who are available around the clock to answers questions and give assistance with your pig(s), to help with things like pig introductions, diet, preparing for fostering/adopting, giving referrals for veterinary care, tips and tricks for training, behavior issues and problems you may be experiencing in your home with these incredibly smart animals. With the start of good positive information, it is our hope we can keep more pigs in their original homes and lessen the trauma they deal with when losing their families.
What can you do to support the AZ Piggy Network: The community plays a big role in our success and we are always in need of willing people to help with transporting, fostering, home-checks, education, and the sharing of factual information about the health and wellness of these amazing creatures we have all fallen in love with. The rescues and fosters in our community are in need of monetary donations, blankets, pig feed, hay and a variety of items year round.
