Dinner time for the Mommas tonight! Our first round of babies will mostly be “the brown ones”. The brown ones are Oberhasli! They all look the same (for the most part) chamoisee (brown) with black points and a dorsal stripe. Our obs are all Disney Princess themed. With all of the babies looking the same, we plan to identify them with colored puppy collars!
Our second breed of goats are La Mancha type. La Manchas can be any color or pattern. The interesting part of La Manchas is they have TINY ears! They have amazing personalities and are super friendly. These unique goats are great milkers and a favorite of the farm. Our La Manchas are themed by the first letter of their name- this year will be the letter i.
Our final breed at the farm is alpine. Grandma (Doris) is our last alpine in the farm. Alpines have strong personalities and even at 10+ years old she is still in charge!
Goat gestation is 150 days, plus or minus a few days. Goats can be bred at a young age can have singles, twins, triples or more! We expect twins from most of our seasoned mommas!
We are LOVING being outside with the animals!
