Whoa what a busy week, is it Friday yet!?

But guess what! We have a new goat!!!!! This stocky fella will be the foundation of our Boer goat herd.

He’s a little skittish but he will come around with lots of love.

Dairy Gal : 🌳WILLOW🌳

Willow is in her first year of milking and while she is small, she can milk! Her cute little udder holds more milk than you would think.

Willow is middle of the herds toteum pole but she always ends up underfoot. She is pretty evenly mannered but she is a wiggle work on the milk stand! She’s always looking back to see what’s going on, stretching her front legs out to put them in her neighbors food, and never actually eating out of her own food bowl.

I’m excited to watch Willow fill out over the next year and be as pretty as her momma!

On today’s episode of Dairy Gals for Dairy month: Mulan!!!

Mulan in her first year of milking and couldn’t be more of a class clown. Once she is on the milk stand she is a dream to milk but getting to the stand is a different story. Mulan’s ability to jump onto the stand is lacking and almost dishonorable. She runs to the stand with her group but refuses to jump. She reaches up and tries to get some nibbles while she waits on us to fully pick her entire body up. She positions herself perfectly so it is truly as easy as can be when she swings her butt in a circle for perfect placement.

Jasmine is Mulan’s mother. They both prefer to be milked in the same slot on the milk stand- genetics are weird.

When Mulan is in the pasture her favorite past time activity is making sure she walks right in front of you “talking” very loudly.

Keep making that yummy milk crazy girl!

Up next for Dairy Month is INDIE!!

Indie, AKA Moldy, is in her first year of milk but she’s a pro at it. She had a single buck kid this year as her first baby. Moldy is registered as a recorded grade meaning she has a couple of different breeds in her pedigree but most noticeably La Mancha by her short ears and sweet personality.

She is all business when it comes to the milk stand. She always positions herself at the same spot every time and doesn’t like to share.

When she’s out in the pasture she is not pushy and really likes Becca. Becca often will just grab her collar and walk around.

Thanks for providing yummy milk Indie!

We are looking for some NEW regular milk pick up customers! If you are a regular or purchase from the stand - share in the comments how much you LOVE the GD Farm milk!!

We have SO MUCH extra milk. The babies are grown up, the mommas are eating all of the green grass and milking like crazy.

We offer regular milk pick ups between 5-7p Mondays and Wednesdays. We also offer Saturday pick up 12-2.

What does this mean: we guarantee we will have milk for you on your day! Pick up is at the farm, freshest milk available and you get to see EXACTLY where your milk comes from!

While this is a commitment to our small biz, we are flexible. If you notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you can’t make a pick up, you wont be responsible for the cost. Within the 24 hour window, you will be responsible for the cost of the milk as we do not have the opportunity to sell it.

If you are interested in a regular pick up time slot, please let us know! Pick ups can start as early as this week!!

To kick off our featured dairy gals: SNICKERS!!!

Snickers came to us last fall and had her first calf, Twix, in January right before the terrible blizzards!

Snickers has come a long ways since she first arrived but she is still very much a “one person” cow! From running from us, dragging us across the pastures on our knees to now meeting us at the gate screaming her head off and walks to the barn solo for milking and snacks. She does require some guidance back to the pasture-never know if there are more snacks!

Snickers produces about 4-5 gallons of high quality A2/A2 milk EVERY DAY! About half of that milk goes right back to Twix and the other half to us and our customers!

Comment below if you love Snickers milk or maybe got to love on her baby Twix at Farm day!

🥛🏳️‍🌈JUNE IS PRIDE AND DAIRY MONTH🏳️‍🌈🥛

This past weekend at farm day we handed out almost 50 “I milked a goat” stickers! Thanks for sponsoring Wyandotte County Farm Bureau Association, Kansas!!

Showing kids (and parents) where their milk and food comes from is super important to us. Everyone enjoyed milking and we may have some hired hands- they were pros. The ladies were on their best behavior and tolerant of newbies 🐐

Throughout the month, we will be sharing each of our dairy animals. Each one of these ladies provides our customers with fresh milk weekly, soap, lotion and cheese!
