The difference between a first time dental and a routine dental.

Routine is a yearly dental check up and when done correctly is just a quick tidy up and removal of sharp points which you can see on the cheek side of the upper teeth and tongue side of the lower teeth.

Sharp points are natural and are caused by the way a horse grinds when chewing its food and because horses teeth constantly erupt throughout a horses life.

Photo 1 & 2 - Shows two different horses mouths that hasn’t been done routinely (yearly).

Photo 3 & 4 - Shows a routine dental on the same horse, on the right side I have burred to show not much work is needed and on the left I haven’t done any work to it for you to compare … not much difference is there?

Please note this isn’t the finished work, I just brushed on the grinding surface quickly for you to compare.

Sometimes I have clients that think not much has been done so why bother doing them yearly, but yearly just prevents any issue teeth coming back and causing problems in the mouth and also removes those sharp points. I can promise you if this horse got left another year before dentistry its mouth wouldn’t look like this.

100% can testify to JLD Rugs, Jack made my first ever dentistry roll and nailed it first go. All my tools fit perfectly and it was exactly what I asked and hoped for. There isn’t anything she can’t make!
12 years on and I still have my rugs, nose bags, fly veils and knife roll.

This year ALL IN ONE EQUINE did something I never thought was possible which has made me so proud of how far my small business has come from when I started almost 8 years ago.

The realisation of having a number put on the horses I’ve been entrusted with blew my mind this year because I’ve never sat back and thought about it, I’ve just gotten on with the job and treated every horse the same. No matter if it’s my big name clients or a first year ringers horse, they are all equal in my eyes, as my own horses aren’t world beaters but to me they are everything.

This year I was humbled when I came to the realisation that I had been given the opportunity to work on the 3 horses that would come to top the sale at the biggest sales of the year, which to me is the biggest honour when I sat back and really thought about what that meant and the dollar value that came with those horses. Not excluding my other clients horses and the fact that each and every horse isn’t replaceable and the dollar value that comes with them too. However for me to see these 3 horses sell for that price and the realisation of it is something that’s made me very proud of what my hard work and dedication has done for me over all these years.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of every single one of my clients and having you all believe in my work. So to you all, thank you for believing in me and entrusting your prized possessions with me and know that I never take that honour for granted.
I wouldn’t get to live my dream everyday without each and everyone of you! So from the bottom of my heart, thank you!!! ♥️

Congratulations to not only the top selling horse owners, exhibitors and buyers, but to everyone else’s success throughout this year, and if you didn’t do well then just remember all the small wins you got this year and bring on 2024.

I talk so much about Equine Dentistry and how it is so much more then sharp points and this is why! Before I went to America to learn it, I too thought equine dentistry was just removing sharp points on the upper molars.
…but did you know lower molars on the tongue side get the same sharp points? And so many other malocclusion that impair their ability to grind their food, cause head and mouth issues that affect their performance and so much more.

This photo shows you just how big ramps can get inside the horses mouth and without the correct dentistry would continue to erupt higher.

The right side has been reduced back to alignment so that the mouth is balanced again and pressure is released. The left side has not been worked on yet and shows how large the other ramp was.

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t like to eat my food with a big sharp ramp like that digging into my gums or putting that much pressure on the rest of my teeth.
