Two of our long-time residents went on a field trip yesterday with some volunteers! Percy (husky) and Onyx (shepherd mix) enjoyed a walk at the park where they got to get some energy out and sniff all the new smells! They both also did fantastic in the car and may have even liked the car ride to the park just as much as the walk itself! Percy is the longest resident at the shelter and has been there for an ENTIRE YEAR! He is very dog-friendly and well socialized in different environments. He would love a home with another playful dog that he can romp around with. Percy had a goofy personality and is ready to go-go-go! Onyx has come so far since first arriving at the shelter and is definitely a volunteer favorite. He is an obedient, well behaved dog and has learned so much from volunteers and staff that have worked with him on his training. He walks well with other dogs and is much less energy than his friend Percy. He loves people and is a loyal companion! This happy pup is Hudson! Hudson is a 2 year old Akita/Anatolian shepherd mix that came into the shelter as a stray and was not redeemed. He is looking for an active, loving person to give him a forever home! Hudson has a bright personality and bonds to people quickly. He has spent a good amount of time cuddling and getting pet my volunteers in the yard! Hudson also absolutely loves to play fetch and could hang out and run around in the agility yard for hours! He doesn’t seem to care much about other dogs, though he has not been dog tested yet. He is the type of dog that you could load in the car and take on long hikes, camping trips, or road-tripping! Earlier today three amazing volunteers took some adorable pups out to Coastal Peaks Coffee for an adoption event! Lainey (black and white mix), Juniper (shepherd mix puppy), and Flower (husky) spent the day greeting people and getting lots of love. All three dogs did great with people approaching them and enjoyed the time outside of their kennels! Juniper and Lainey played together in between greeting people, and Flower enjoyed lounging with the volunteer handling her. All three dogs were on their best behavior! Lainey is a 1-2 year old medium sized pitbull/husky mix that loves the water and belly rubs! Juniper is a 15 week old German shepherd mix puppy that enjoys playing with other dogs and snuggling. Last but not least, Flower is a beautiful 1 year old husky that has a nice amount of energy…she loves to go on walks but is equally as happy sitting by your side and being pet! There is really no reason for ANY dog to be in the shelter for over a year! And yet, here I am. I am Percy. I am one excellent pup. Can you imagine waiting for more than a year for your one, true person to come? And I have been holding it together waiting! Look at my sweet face. What is not to love? I am 3 years old. That means I have spent a THIRD of my young life waiting for YOU! I really am all that and a bag of chips too. I am smart, energetic, I love other dogs. I am up for anything! I am literally the dog volunteers pick to test other dogs with - that's how great I am. If you are looking for an adventure buddy, look no further. Don't you just want to Boop my beautiful, shiny nose!?! My name is Onyx. I am a gorgeous, black, 3 year old, male German Shepherd. I have been here since January! There is no reason I should be waiting that long for my new family. I am a wonderful boy and a volunteer favorite. I am good with most other dogs. I am good on a leash. I love my people and listen intently to what they want from me. I am active but not too active. I would do great with someone who wanted to hike or go to the beach and then hang on the couch eating snacks . I am a German Shepherd so I am loyal like no other. My only downside is that I cannot be adopted to a home with livestock. Lola has been adopted! Two paws WAY up!!!
🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️Hi! My name is Lola. Am I the cutest thing, or what!?! I am a 3 year old Queensland Border Collie cross. I was surrendered here at the beginning of August and now I am looking for my new people. I am a petit girl, maybe 35 pounds. I am a little overwhelmed by the shelter. So I come off a little aloof initially. But, in fact, I am a sweet pea. It just takes me a bit to warm up. It also seems like maybe I wasn't exposed to a lot in my first 3 years. So sometimes the usual sort of things seem a bit scary. I do like balls and toys although squeaky ones are not my favorite. I like to be close to my person and I love gentle pets. My previous person said I was ok with other dogs but I'd bet it would have to be the right dog. They said I hadn't spent time with cats of kids so those were an unknown. The kid thing I am sure I could get used to if they were older, dog savvy kids. And my guess is that I was not a ranch dog because I also have not be introduced to livestock. Anyway, my best home would be a calm one where I was given plenty of time to gain confidence. Maybe just the right confidant dog as a friend would be ok too. The shelter is no place for a senior to spend their golden years! Lissa and Shay have been at the shelter since April and are still holding out hope that there is a loving family wanting to adopt them. These pups were outside dogs their entire lives and came into the shelter with some patchy fur and other bumps and bruises. They still have some old scars and signs of aging, but appear to be healthy and happy dogs now! One benefit of adopting a senior dog is that their personalities are already developed and you know a bit more about the dogs themselves! Lissa and Shay are friendly girls and greet all other animals and people with wagging tails. They have a lot of love to give and are happy to show off their obedience skills in return for a treat. Both dogs are big fans of food and are well-mannered overall. Shay (with the pointy ears) can be a bit apprehensive to go a walk sometimes, but will eventually get moving, especially if another dog is leading the way. They are low-maintenance dogs and just want to cuddle and get loved on! Rastah is just the most perfect boy, and we do not know why he hasn’t been scooped up yet! Rastah is 3 years old and is a beautiful german shepherd. He came in with another dog (Paco) as an owner surrender back in April. Rastah is a chill, go-with-the-flow type of dog and has proven to do well in many different environments. He gets along with other dogs and especially does well around dogs that are not overly hyper and jumping on him. His previous owners also reported that he is good with cats, though he has not been tested at the shelter. Rastah has gone on field trips outside of the shelter and did great! He likes to take his time sniffing around new places to get acclimated. Rastah’s demeanor is not rambunctious or hyper at all. He does not jump up on people and has not shown any aggression while at the shelter. Rastah is such a cool dog, and we would love for him to find his forever home soon! These fun-loving girls are Riley and Layla! They came in as strays about a month ago and have been waiting for their forever homes since! Riley and Layla are active girls and love to run and play with one another. They are 2 years old and have a good amount of energy to join you on all your adventures! Riley especially likes to play in the pool at the shelter, so she might even enjoy trips to the beach or lake! Both dogs would benefit from some training as they do not appear to have had much attention or care in the past. Shepherds are smart dogs and these girls are no exception…we know that they will thrive in a home that can commit to working on their obedience and leash skills! Riley and Layla do not need to be adopted together, though they would both likely enjoy another active dog in their forever home for them to play with! Paco is still waiting for his forever home! This goofy shepherd mix has been at the shelter for 5 months waiting for the perfect person to come adopt him! Paco is dog friendly, has a happy demeanor, and is full of personality. Food is his favorite thing and he will happily show off his basic obedience skills in exchange for a treat! He is 3 years old and has a nice balance of energy. He would love to join you on a walk or hike and then snooze the day away! Paco is a pretty big dog and the kennels are a bit small for him. He would much rather be enjoying his days in a house with a nice family! He does great with all other dogs he has met and is well-socialized around new people. Sweet Eliana is hoping her forever family is out there! Eliana is a 7 month old Great Dane/German shepherd mix that came in as a stray with her two brothers and they were not redeemed. Now they are all looking for forever homes! Eliana is a goofy, spunky girl and has many great attributes. She is very dog friendly and has become friends with many dogs at the shelter. She also doesn’t bark at passing dogs when she is coming in and out of her kennel! Though she isn’t awful at walking on the leash, she could use some guidance to improve a bit. Luckily she is eager to please and treat motivated, so we don’t think it will be too hard for her to learn! Eliana loves all the volunteers and has a friendly temperament. She is going to get bigger, so a family that is prepared to own a large dog is necessary. Eliana is still a puppy and has the energy to join you on runs and hikes and then take a nice long nap! Meet Archer and Clayton! These two cattle dog mixes were found together in Nipomo and not redeemed, so they are available for adoption! They are not bonded and are currently kenneled separately, so they do not need to be adopted together. These boys are 8 years old and are chill, mellow pups! They are dog friendly, though they are seniors so other dogs that are not super hyper would be preferable for them to live with. These dogs are very easy…they do not need a ton of exercise and are not interested in toys and treats. They really just want to be with people getting lots of pets and love! We can see them going to a home with an older person or someone with a lower energy lifestyle. They would make great dogs to take out and about as they are completely non reactive to other dogs and love all the people they have met. They are also a great medium size and are gentle on the leash while out walking. Archer is the lighter brown and white dog and Clayton is the brown and black dog. This beautiful girl is Hazel! Hazel was very recently surrendered to the shelter and is hoping to get into her forever home soon. She is 1 year old is is listed as a Doberman/german shepherd mix. Hazel’s previous owners described her as playful and cuddly and noted that she is good with older kids, cats, and both big and small dogs. She was tested with another medium sized dog here at the shelter and did great! She loves to run around and would be the perfect dog for an active person. We think she would love to go on runs, play at the beach, and join you on hikes! Her previous owners also stated that she is housebroken. Lainey, Marigold, and Princess went on a field trip yesterday with a few volunteers and had a BLAST! All three dogs hopped in the creek and Princess and Marigold even swam around with each other! They loved the water and it was nice for them to cool off! Marigold (shepherd puppy) and princess (brindle pittie) became best friends and spent lots of time playing with each other. Marigold especially would thrive in a home with another energetic dog for her to romp around with! She is an active girl and is ready to go-go-go! Lainey did great walking with the pack and enjoyed getting treats and practicing her commands. She walks pretty well on the leash and overall has good manners. Both Lainey and Princess are past the puppy stage and have nice even temperaments. They enjoy getting out of their kennels for daily exercise but are not too rambunctious! We are so impressed with how well these three did outside of the shelter environment! HI! My name is Kane! I am a 7 month old, male German Shepherd Dog. I am just a baby. I was found in Santa Margarita and not claimed. I am sweet boy who just wants to please. I would do great in a house with an older dog that would show me the ropes. I am ready to learn! I have all the German Shepherd traits, smarts, athleticism and loyalty. I do have puppy manners and could use some structure and maybe even a trainer. Think where we could go!? I am food motivated and would be easily trained. Otis and Cassius can now be adopted thru Woods Humane Society 🐾❤️

Meet Otis (brown) and Cassius (black)! These two pups came in as strays together and were not redeemed. They are now available for adoption! They are both 6 year old medium sized lab/pitbull mixes but are not bonded and do not need to be adopted together. Otis has some pep in his step and has enough energy to run around the agility yard and go on long walks! He is very obedient and knows “sit” and “down” well. Cassius is a bit calmer than Otis but still has a fair amount of energy for a six year old dog. He is a big fan of treats and also does well with his obedience skills! Both of these pups are well socialized and not reactive to other dogs. They would likely do well with another dog in the home and would love to join an adventurous family or someone that will take them on walks, hikes, or trip to the beach! Their pictures make them look larger than they are…they weigh around 45-50 lbs. Puppy Jay is more than ready to find his forever home! Jay is a 13 week old German shepherd mix that is the last of his litter to find a forever home! He is your typical puppy and enjoys playing tug of war, chewing on toys, and romping around the yard. He loves every person he has met and is a spunky little guy. Rose spent the weekend and foster care and got an A+ report card back! She started off her weekend with a car ride through the drive through creamery at Cal Poly and a nice walk. She went to a couple lookout points to see the sunset and enjoyed the fresh air and all the smells around her. Rose also joined her foster one morning at a coffee shop and sat the entire time contently chewing on a bone and getting belly rubs from people! Belly rubs are Rose’s favorite thing and, when she first meets you, she will immediately roll over so you can pet her. She also absolutely loves car rides and will snuggle up and sleep the entire time! Rose is a cuddly, low energy girl and prefers to spend her time lounging on the couch. She does not need an active owner to take her on extravagant adventures or long hikes…she would much rather just be laying next to you! Though Rose does need to be the only pet in the home, she has so much love to give and looks at you like you are the best person in the world! Rose has some scars from her life before she came into the shelter, so we are hoping her forever family will make up for her rough past and give her a calm, loving home. Hi! My name is Marigold! You may remember I was adopted from here a few weeks ago. I was brought back because I have a bit of energy - too much for the household I was adopted by. Other than being a busy girl, I am perfect in everyway. I am housebroken, I know commands, I sleep in a crate, I get along with other dogs and I LOVE to cuddle - especially when I have had some good fun! I am just a young thing after all! 💚Courtesy Post💚 Daisy is a 3 year old pug that is looking for a new home. Daisy’s owner recently passed away and she was adopted by another person, who is no longer able to care for her. Daisy enjoys going on walks with other dogs, but would prefer to be the only dog in the home. She has gotten a bit overweight, so lots of walks to help her shed a few pounds would likely help her feel more comfortable! Daisy is a cuddly girl and likes to lounge around, as you can see by these pictures! She is spayed and up to date on all her shots. Ranger has been adopted! Two paws WAY up!!🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️Big beautiful Shepherd boy RANGER from SLO County Animal Services did great on Fridays radio show as our pet of the week! He's friendly with everyone, sits for treats and settled down easy for a nice nap. At just 1yr old he easily jumped into the car and was calm for the ride throughout SLO. One of his biggest positives is his playful silly nature especially with other dogs, he's a very happy boy! SKIPPY is our very special pet of the month at Slo County Animal Services and just had a fun outing and ride along with a KSBY reporter. Skippy is a 34 pound 4yr old Queensland Heeler mix who loves all people he meets, car rides, and showing off all his tricks! He will make a great family dog or love riding around on a ranch property, he's got it all! Puppy Argos is waiting to meet you! This cute puppy came in as a stray a few weeks ago and has been waiting for his forever home since. He is an 11 week old German shepherd mix with a spunky, playful personality. He could use some training on his obedience as he has a tendency to jump up when he meets people, but he is a smart little guy and we think he will do well with future training. This is Archer, an 8 year old Australian cattle dog mix that is available for adoption! Archer is absolutely adorable! He LOVES belly rubs and will lay there on his back while you pet him. He is very obedient and knows all his commands too! Archer is a sweet boy and does not appear to be very high energy. Meet Lilah, a 3 year old female Siberian husky that came in as a stray but was not redeemed. She is now looking for her forever home! Lilah just recently arrived at the shelter, but we can already tell how loving and gentle she is. She has a kind disposition and is not crazy hyper like huskies stereotypically are. Though she is only 3 years old, she has an old soul and does not have puppy energy. She is affectionate and is loved by the volunteers! Charlie is ready to find his forever home! He came into the shelter as a stray in June and was not redeemed, and has been waiting for the perfect person to come adopt him since! Charlie is a big guy and is finding the small kennels to be a bit depressing. He LOVES volunteers and staff and is happiest when he is lounging in the play yard with his people. There is only so much time that volunteers and staff can give each dog when the shelter is at capacity, so Charlie is feeling sad and not as energetic as when he first came in. He really needs to find a home that will love him and let him run around and play! Charlie is 4 years old and is a big Great Pyrenees. He is pretty easy going and just wants a home that will allow him to sniff around and give him lots of pets. Help us bring Charlie’s smile back by sharing this post so he can find his forever home! What a fun field trip these three adoptable puppies had yesterday! Rose (bulldog mix), Belle (shepherd mix puppy), and Vladimir (Great Dane mix puppy) joined volunteers on a walk at the park where they got to sniff around and hang out with each other! Vladimir and Belle LOVED each other…Vladimir could not stop kissing Belle, and she didn’t seem to mind! We cannot believe they haven’t been adopted…they are gorgeous puppies and are so friendly! They would both do well in homes with other dogs that they can play with! Belle is the more outgoing of the two puppies and rode very well in the car. Vladimir can be weary of new things, but we think his confidence will grow once he is adopted and out in the real world. Rose is 5 years old but did well hanging out with the young dogs! At the shelter, Rose is not comfortable around other dogs and will bark at them through her kennel. However, outside of the kennel she doesn’t bark at all and didn’t pay any attention to the puppies. She still needs to be the only dog in the home, but she is learning to be more comfortable around other dogs in public. We are so proud of how well she did! She spent some time in foster care where we learned that she is low energy and just wants to lounge and be with people. She would be a great dog for a senior person or someone with a chill lifestyle. Shaela is a 10 month old pug mix that was just surrendered to the shelter yesterday. Maybe her forever family will adopt her today so she doesn’t have to spend another night in the shelter! Shaela was an outside dog and slept in a doghouse at night. She would love a home that will treat her like part of the family and show her the joys of life! She is obviously a little bit confused as to why she is at the shelter, but she was happy to be picked up and to hang out in the play yard. She likes people and her previous owners reported she is good with other dogs and kids. Come meet Shaela today! Puppy Jay is STILL waiting to be adopted! He is a fluffy 13 week old German shepherd mix and is ready to find a loving forever family! Jay got to spend some time in the play yard with a volunteer and clearly enjoys playing fetch! He is one smart cookie and would do very well in a home that can continue his training as he grows. He’s got some big paws, so we are expecting him to grow significantly in these coming months! German shepherds are loyal, attentive breeds and make great companion dogs. Well, it doesn’t get much cuter than this! Marigold went on an outing today with a couple other shelter dogs and got to go SWIMMING! She loves the water and was so happy to be splashing around. Marigold is 7 months old and is a German shepherd. She is dog friendly and would love to go to a home with another playful dog. This 5 year old mellow bulldog mix is hoping her forever home is out there! Rose came in as a stray in May but was never redeemed. Though we do not know what her past looks like, she has a couple scars on her and looks to have had puppies in the past. We would love for her to find a home that will treat her like the amazing dog she is! Rose spent a week in foster care and her foster said that she was the easiest, most low-maintenance dog ever. She is 100% potty trained, walks well on the leash, and likes to lounge and sleep most of the day. She would be a great dog for someone that works from home or is retired and wants a companion to spend their days with! The shelter is completely at capacity, and Rose really needs to find her forever home. Please share far and wide to find a family for Rose! She’s known to greet people who stand in front of her cage with a soft meow. She often “makes biscuits” and purrs in anticipation of being petted. When she IS petted, she’s in heaven, rolling on her back and closing her eyes to savor the full pleasure of your kindness. She’s about four years old; mature enough to be calm (not hyper) but young enough for many years ahead of mutual companionship. Tina would thrive in a household with either one person who can give her lots of snuggle time or a family where lots of gentle hands are reaching out to love her. Hi SLO Lucky followers. I met Joseph and Little Girl outside Food’s for Less in SLO. Unfortunately, his beautiful pup, Little Girl, has been stolen from him. Please keep your eyes peeled looking for this sweet girl. Her owner really wants her back 🐾❤️
