INSTINCT - SAFETY - COMFORT

How to help your dog with Thunderstorms and upcoming cyclone 🌀

Allowing dogs to follow their instincts, especially during stressful situations like storms.
Dogs have a natural tendency to seek out safe, secure spaces when they feel anxious.
By permitting them to find a spot in the house where THEY feel comfortable, we respect their instincts and help reduce their stress levels.

Forcing dogs to stay in a particular area, or restricting their choices, can increase anxiety and fear.

On the other side, allowing them to choose their own safe space promotes a sense of autonomy and security, which is crucial for their emotional well-being.
By creating an environment where dogs can act on their instincts, we build trust.

This approach ultimately leads to a calmer and happier dog during stressful situations.

Dogs can detect subtle changes in the environment that humans may not notice, such as shifts in barometric pressure or the scent of rain.

Many pet owners have observed their dogs behaving differently before a storm—becoming anxious, seeking shelter, or displaying signs of restlessness. This behaviour is thought to stem from their instinctual responses to potential threats in their environment.

Let them find their own little safety space . If your dog chooses to be with you , just let them snuggle up ♥️🐾♥️

Pictured
My sweet doggies, Lady and Chica, rarely snuggle up, so it warmed my heart to see them cuddling together. It brings me such comfort knowing they feel safe with each other, especially with the storm approaching. ♥️

STAY SAFE EVERYONE 🌀🙏🏼

Do You Know That the Earlier You Start Training Your Puppy, the Better Their Behaviour Will Be?

Lil Hunter is already well trained- crate training- doggie door - boundaries in the home, sit, wait! Such a delight to watch.

Here are three tips for your training a 4-month-old puppy :

Positive Reinforcement: Use treats, praise, and play as rewards for desired behaviours.
This encourages your puppy to repeat those behaviours and strengthens your bond.

Short and Fun Sessions: Keep training sessions brief (5-10 minutes) and engaging.
Puppies have short attention spans, so frequent, positive experiences will help maintain their interest and enthusiasm.

Socialization Opportunities: Expose your puppy to various environments, people, and other animals.

This helps develop their confidence and adaptability, which are crucial for well-rounded behaviour as they grow.

And most importantly….. enjoy the the journey ♥️🐾♥️

Look at him “Lil Archie” so cute I could eat him 🥰

Lil Archie lately likes to isolate A LOT and is avoiding to socialise with his family.

Archie is a very clever doggie , apart from being extremely handsome 🥰

I’ve put together just some suggestions why a dog can isolate and how to approach.

The importance of mental and physical stimulation for dogs.

When dogs are understimulated, they may exhibit various behavioural issues, including seeking isolation.

Some dogs more than others need structured activities and social interaction to thrive, and a lack of these can lead to boredom and anxiety, prompting them to withdraw.

To prevent this, is providing these dogs carefully with adequate exercise, training, and engaging activities to keep them mentally and physically satisfied.

We started with very simple little skills such as “luring” and “ look” … which mom & dad have to learn for correct teaching 😜

Also important is to give Archie SPACE, which can be difficult due to his cuteness 😵‍💫 but trying to keep impulse control as humans really helps. 😉

Archie was happy and strongly involved during the session, and had a sparkle around him 🤩🤩

Can’t wait to see him again.

🎄🐾 Think Before You Buy: Adopt a Shelter Dog This Christmas 🐾🎄

‘Tis the season for joy, laughter, and maybe a little bit too much eggnog!
Before you rush out to buy that adorable puppy with the big puppy eyes, take a moment to consider adopting a shelter dog.

Sure, puppies are cute and come with an endless supply of energy, but remember: they also come with endless responsibilities—like chewing on your favourite slippers and practicing their “howl” at 3 AM!

Adopting a shelter dog not only gives them a loving home, but it also saves you from the chaos of house-training a puppy. Plus, shelter dogs come with character and a few tales of their own—like how they heroically defeated the vacuum cleaner!

This holiday season, give the gift of love and companionship. It’s a decision you can feel good about (and your slippers will thank you). Choose to adopt, and you might just find your new best friend waiting for you, ready to snuggle up right by your side.

Happy holidays and happy adopting! 🐶❤️

Little rescue CHARCOAL the Wolfhound- Staffy- Bull Mastiff Australian Collie Cross 😳🤩🥰 having fun with the RECALL TRAINING 😜

Using a longline is essential for training a puppy to achieve perfect recall. The longline provides the freedom for the dog to explore while ensuring safety and control.

It allows to reinforce positive behaviours and correct unwanted ones without the risk of losing your dog.

By gradually increasing the distance, puppies learn to associate coming back with rewards, thereby strengthening their recall instinct.

This method promotes a positive learning experience, fostering trust between you and your the puppy ~ ultimately leading to reliable and consistent recall.

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

The Molossus Dog stands as one of history's most renowned breeds, celebrated for its strength, loyalty, and bravery. Hailing from the Molossian region of Epirus—present-day Greece and Albania—this ancient breed was highly esteemed by civilizations such as the Greeks and Romans for its versatility and formidable presence. Often regarded as a progenitor of many modern Mastiff breeds, the Molossus Dog was instrumental in ancient warfare, hunting, and protection.

Characterized by its large, muscular physique, the Molossus was an imposing sight, featuring a broad chest and robust frame. With its short coat available in various colors, its commanding demeanor made it an exceptional guardian. These dogs were not only intelligent and fiercely loyal but also made outstanding companions, serving roles far beyond mere pets. They were utilized in battles to intimidate foes, defend homes, and safeguard livestock and valuables.

The Molossus Dog frequently appeared in ancient art and literature, often portrayed alongside warriors or in protective roles at temples. Its legendary strength and courage earned it a symbolic status representing protection and authority. Roman military forces greatly valued the Molossus, training these dogs for various military duties, including guarding encampments and engaging in combat.

Despite their historical significance, the purebred Molossus Dog eventually faded from existence due to shifts in breeding practices and the evolution of dog breeds. Nonetheless, its legacy persists in modern breeds like the Mastiff, Rottweiler, and Great Dane, which embody many traits that contributed to the Molossus's legendary reputation.

The tale of the Molossus Dog is a testament to the profound bond between humans and animals throughout history. These dogs were not merely protectors but also trusted allies in both peace and war, symbolizing the enduring relationship between people and their canine companions. Although the Molossus is no longer with us, its spirit endures in the breeds it influenced and the stories that continue to celebrate its remarkable legacy.

What are your thoughts on the Molossus Dog and its historical significance? Let’s pay tribute to this legendary breed and the lasting impression it has made on both the world of dogs and human society.

FROM RESCUE TO HOME

Lil Cleo earned an anything in everything 🤩
Rocking her mat & crate training 🐾

Crate training:
The doggy equivalent of a cozy apartment with a view! Imagine your pup, the ultimate couch potato, suddenly discovering a personal space that’s all theirs —complete with a soft bed and zero interruptions from the vacuum monster or your neighbor’s cat/ dog.

Think of the crate as a magic den where your dog can retreat when the world feels a bit too chaotic. It’s their safe haven, helping them feel secure and less anxious. Plus, it’s a lifesaver for your furniture (and sanity) when you need to step out for a bit.

And let’s be honest, every dog dreams of being a “home alone” superstar. With crate training, they can rock that solo act without turning your living room into an obstacle course!

So, embrace the crate: it’s NOT just a box; it’s a fortress of solitude, a nap zone, a place to process and decompress and a ticket to a more peaceful home. Who knew being a responsible dog parent could be this pawsitively entertaining? 🐾
