Our finished schedule for the first week and a half of August is ready!

August 1st will have an 11am walk. This is $15 to attend and the focus is leash skills and neutrality. If you'd like to work with one of my dogs please let me know! There is 2pm and 4pm private training available to my Crandon clients as well! All private sessions are $35.

August 2nd has an 11am walk and a 5pm OPEN training. Both of these are $15 to attend and a great opportunity to socialize and work with your dog. All walks and open sessions will meet at Cardinal Park.

August 5th has a 2pm and 4pm private available to Rhinelander clients only.

August 6th will have an 11am walk and a 4pm private available to Rhinelander clients.

August 7th at 7pm I will be working with Bender. You are more than welcome to come and watch! Bender will be working on some of the things we will showcase in the Barks and Brews demo we are planning in Manitowoc.

August 8th has an 11am walk and 2pm and 4pm private sessions available to Crandon clients.

Finally Friday the 9th there is an 11am walk and a 4pm private available to Rhinelander clients.

Again WALKS and OPENS are $15 to attend and all PRIVATE sessions are $35. Nail trims can easily be worked into your private session for an added fee.

We've had an awesome month of training and boarders! As always I want to thank you guys for trusting me with your babies.

We have some exciting news as well! I will be partnering with Nova's Reason Pit Rescue to foster a wonderful rottie. Whitney, who's picture is the last in the series will be available for adoption after her B&T.

Have you ever wondered why the minimum age for hip and elbow clearances is 24 months?
OFA hip and elbow clearances look at the conformation of the joints to evaluate if there are any deformities or evidence of disease. While preliminary results are generally reliable, the accuracy of the final grade and the ability to diagnose hip dysplasia increases at 24 months of age. Degenerative arthritic changes secondary to hip or elbow dysplasia can take time to appear on radiographs, especially mild cases. The 24 month mark has been shown to be reliable for diagnosis because it ensures growth is complete and allows for degenerative changes to be seen. This age is also still young enough to allow breeders and owners to make informed decisions for the dog's future.

Offleash freedom, or the ability for a dog to run and play without the restriction of a leash, can be an important aspect of a dog's welfare. Hiking with your dogs can provide an ideal setting for some offleash freedom. It is important to note that letting your dog offleash should only be done in safe and controlled environments. Here we have Sushi, Arrow, and Chappie on a frozen lake near Laona.

A popular question I often hear is, "When can I stop using treats in training?" My usual response? "When can your boss stop giving you a paycheck?" Just like how rewards motivate us in our jobs, treats or toys play a crucial role in shaping your furry friend's behavior during training sessions. By offering a lottery system of goodies when your dog is working, you're creating a fun and engaging learning experience.

Bender was an absolute rockstar at the Spunkymutt 5k! This event marked his debut as my performance dog, and he absolutely nailed it! His stellar performance left everyone in awe. With his natural talent and irresistible charm, Bender proved to be a fantastic ambassador for his breed, and we can't wait to see him shine again next year.

"ꜱʜᴇ'ꜱ ɢᴏᴛᴛᴀ ʟᴇᴀʀɴ"
Something I hear often while walking my dogs.

A dog rushes us, the cavalier lifts his lip, the Poodle x stares her down, the Border Collie attempts to round her up and the GSP runs full pelt, balls to the walls towards the dog rushing us.

The other dog yelps as the GSP stands on her face, throwing paws, showing her the toy in his mouth.

When hearing her dog yelp, the owner replies: "ꜱʜᴇ'ꜱ ɢᴏᴛᴛᴀ ʟᴇᴀʀɴ".
She does, but its not my dogs responsibility to teach her.

It's not my dogs responsibility to teach her:
- Not to rush other dogs.
- To recall.
- How to play properly.
- How to read other dogs appropriately.

🚨🚨 I will be in Illinois from the 23-25th. I found a low cost clinic to spay some of the dogs I have personally rescued or taken responsibility for and placed with friends. 🚨🚨

Sometimes, new skills take time to master, and that's perfectly normal! Mania, my personal dog, has been practicing her stay for the past couple of weeks in my spare time, and it's been a bit of a journey, but she's making progress, step by step. With patience and persistence, she'll soon grasp this new skill, even if it doesn't come naturally to her right away. Remember, every dog learns at their own pace, so take your time, celebrate the small victories, and enjoy the process!
