“Do you get to play with dogs all day?!?” This is the most frequently-asked question I get. Alas, the answer is no. However, I get to do something FAR better, if you can believe it.
Every groom is different, because each furry client is wholly unique unto themselves. I have clients who are so laidback, they fall asleep. Some are incredibly frightened. There are fighters, lovers, those who enjoy the bath, those who are fearless when it comes to the dryer, acrobats, tap dancers, and those who play the “tub is lava” game, and consider the dryer the mother of all danger noodles. Haha
But, what can possibly be better than playing with dogs all day??
Whispering to a frightened dog while in the bath, slowly and gently washing away their fears with warm, sudsy water. Giving them a relaxing massage, to calm their nerves, while singing little made-up-on-the-spot songs to them. Drying them off, picking them up, and seeing for myself the frightened dog I put into the sink is NOT the dog I’ve taken out — relaxed, giving a few kisses, leaning their head against my chest. ♥️ Talking to, petting and singing to a dog who is afraid of the blow dryer, and seeing that moment when they realize they’re not in danger. That really makes my heart smile! Transforming a dog’s coat into something which reflects their sweet angel personality. Finding they have independently chosen to come sit on my lap and snuggle, after their whole groom is finished. 🐾💕🤗
