Last August, Minerva and her three kittens—Potter, Granger, and Ginny—were rescued and placed with amazing foster moms Britt and Meghan Killian. Here’s where they are now:

✨ Minerva: This sweet girl needed to be an only cat. After some extra TLC in foster care, she found her forever home, where she’s now a pampered lap cat!

✨ Potter & Granger: Adopted together, these lively siblings are living their best, snuggly lives with their new family!

✨ Smokee (formerly Ginny): At the shelter, Ginny was a timid, but sweet kitten. She had a hard time coming out of her shell, but when her mom and dad met her, they fell in love! Smokee is slowly gaining confidence with her loving family’s patience and care. Her dad even wakes up early to play with her before work!

Timid kittens like Smokee may take extra time, but the rewards of seeing them bloom are priceless. Thank you to everyone who supports our rescues and fosters! ❤️

𝐁𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬: 𝐀 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠

Bruiser's arrival at our shelter with facial injuries is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by un-neutered male cats. These fights over territory and mates can lead to serious, painful injuries, and even expose cats to diseases like FIV and FeLV.

Intact males are driven by hormones to fight and roam, putting them at risk of getting lost, hit by cars, or facing other dangers. They may also spray indoors, creating an unpleasant odor in your home.

The good news is that neutering can prevent all of these problems. Neutering removes the hormonal drive behind aggression, roaming, and spraying, giving your cat a happier, safer, and healthier life.

We understand that everyone loves kittens. However, there are simply too many homeless cats, and many don't survive past six months old. Spaying and neutering your cat is not just about their health, it's about helping to control the cat population and prevent future suffering.

Please consider neutering your cat. Talk to your friends and family about doing the same. It's a simple procedure that can make a big difference in your cat's life and the lives of countless others.

We are beyond thrilled to announce that after 23 days on the lam, WEDNESDAY IS BACK! Despite her wired jaw, and a shaved belly, and every inclement weather we hoped would stay away, the vet has declared her to be in remarkably good shape. We are so very grateful to many diligent and invested neighbors who helped
us narrow down where she was staying and assisted in finally safely and successfully trapping her. Wednesday is right back to her usual antics, kisses and gentle paws right on her (very, very relieved) foster mom's face and quiet but persistent demands for endless fancy feast. ❤️🐈‍⬛

Say hello to our adorable new arrival—Darius or Daria? 🤔 Can you guess whether this sweet furball is a boy or a girl?

We've just welcomed four precious kitties to our shelter family: Thumbelina, Whitney, Elliot, and of course... Darius/Daria! While we know they love a good petting session, they’re a bit shy about sharing their private details (we can't blame them 😹). So, the suspense is REAL—are we looking at a handsome boy or a pretty girl?

Next week, Darius/Daria will be heading to the vet for a little check-up, and we’ll finally know for sure!
But in the meantime…

We’ve got some amazing updates to share about Glenda and her kittens, now living the good life with their forever families! 💕🐾

When Glenda came to us last April, she was a pregnant stray in need of a cozy place to have her babies. Glenda stayed with her amazing foster mom, Hannah, who currently has another expecting mama in her care!
Thank you for all you do Hannah!🫶

𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐞 (𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐆𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚) is living her best life as "The Ruler of the Household"! 😸 Cozy, confident, and still as playful as ever, she keeps her family entertained with her silly antics. Her mom says, “We love this adorable, crazy girl!” 🏰💕

𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐳 (𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐀𝐥𝐦𝐚𝐲𝐫𝐚)has found his perfect fit in his new family. He loves to play and snuggle with his feline big brother, Trooper, and even enjoys hanging out with the family’s black lab, Kylo! 🐾 His family says Beanz has the best time playing fetch with his toys, bringing so much joy and laughter into their home. 🎾🐱

𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 is getting all the love he deserves from his family and their three human kids, who absolutely adore him. His adopter says, “Can’t imagine life without him. He was made for our family!” 🥰

𝐃𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐲 is surrounded by love in her forever home, and she’s got a special bond with her adoptive sister, Luna, who was also an AFOC alum from earlier in 2024! These two are so comfy-cozy in their cat tree, and it’s clear they’re both living their best lives. 🌸🌳

𝐏𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞 (𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝) 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬 (𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐲) are keeping their new family on their toes! After a fun-filled playtime with their human siblings, they love to snuggle up with each other and their cat brother, Groucho. Their adopter says the whole family adores them and has so much fun together! 🐾💖

We thought we might get a little bit of a kitten break before this year's "kitten season"....but the universe has other plans. We have three mamas in foster and these are the first kittens of 2025, born yesterday. Mom was surrendered and taken into foster while in labor!

Have you ever considered fostering a cat or kitten? 🐾

In 2024, we rescued 21 mama cats and their 92 kittens, plus 18 kittens without mothers. Many of these kittens spent time with our amazing fosters, who helped them grow and get ready for adoption. Fosters also helped us care for adult cats with complex needs, preparing them for their forever homes.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be answering your questions about fostering, plus sharing some heartwarming stories of kittens, mama cats, and fosters in their new homes! Stay tuned for some adorable photos! 📸💖

Some of you may know or have worked with Amanda, owner of Frisky Feline Behavior Counseling! If you have you know she's incredible as a person, a behavioral specialist, and as a cat mom!!! This tells the story of what one of her babies has gone through this past year! Please vote for Ritz!!!

Ritz is just 1 yr old & such a strong soul. At 6 months old she was diagnosed with a neurologic illness but still lets nothing stop her.

There were several sightings today!! This gives us hope!!

Prayer warriors - we need your prayers. Wednesday ( kitty’s name) who has been in medical foster escaped early New Year’s morning in West Hartford. We have had sightings today and we have traps set. We just need this baby to go in !
Pray that we catch her tonight. It’s so cold out there ! Thank you

LOST- West Hartford followers. We need your help. A cat in AFOC foster care recovering from a broken jaw escaped ( she has a small wire attached to jaw) from the foster home during early morning hours.( Jan 1, 2025) In the area of Selden Hill Drive- if you locate the cat ( named Wednesday) please contact Animal Control of West Hartford. Please tell them to contact Animal Friends of Ct. Let’s get this baby safe and back in foster !

We are deeply saddened...
Animal Friends of Ct (AFOC) on the passing of Sylvia Krajewska, AFOC President.

Sylvia was a dedicated advocate for the well-being of felines in the New Britain area.

Her passion for rescuing rehabilitating, and finding loving homes for sick, injured, stray and abused cats was unwavering. Sylvia‘s tireless efforts made a profound impact on the lives of countless animals.

She will be deeply missed by the entire AFOC community and all those whose lives she touched through her compassion and dedication to animal welfare.

Although our house is feeling empty this morning we are so excited to tell you that Minerva got her Christmas wish and went to her new home yesterday to spend her first Christmas with her new Mom and Dad.
