A week ago a young female duck that hatched at Otter Limts Farm returned home. Dorothy’s owner called me stating that poor Dorothy was heartbroken and lost after the sudden drowning of her best friend. She had remained in the water with her friend refusing to leave her. When I picked her up and brought her to the farm Dora showed her around and the most amazing thing happened she reconnected immediately with her mother and sister that she had not seen in over a year. ❤️❤️❤️

When you have somewhat feral working cats on your farm it can be so very rewarding as well as sad and heartbreaking. These are the cats that no one wanted because they are “spicy” “quirky” “nasty” or “unadoptable.” These cats prefer the outdoors to living inside a home. Freya is one of these cats. Freya was left in a crate in the middle of nowhere. No one knew how long she had been in the crate but she was terrified, starving and alone. When I got Freya she was being used to “cat test the dogs at the shelter” because no one would want to adopt this nasty mean cat that would launch herself at you strike and attack if you entered her space. I took Freya home was patient and listened to her I didn’t force myself or my will on her and respected her boundaries. For the first couple weeks I had to wear oven mitts just to feed her and clean her litter box. Over time she let me pet her head and even one day on her own accord climbed into my lap rubbing against my shirt. Freya graduated from the feed room and decided the tractor/bushhog was her new home. Every morning and night she would greet me on the tractor where I fed her until two Saturdays ago she didn’t show up. My neighbor thinks he might have spotted her on his driveway this week but we can’t be sure. It’s sad not knowing and everyday I continue to look for her. What do you do with a cat you cannot catch or lock up at night? You let them be free and hope they are safe and smart. I miss you sweet Freya and hope you return home❤️❤️❤️

Three weeks ago I adopted this spicy lady from Metro. She was labeled as a barn cat due to her aggression and most likely would not have been adopted even as a barn cat due to her behavior. I named her Freya.

With the shelters overflowing I decided to adopt a little family. Mom is so sweet but both kittens are pretty feral and need socializing. Meet newest farm members Ginger (mom), Leo (orange kitten) and Dusty Rhodes (creme kitten). The family will be living in the tack room for awhile until kittens are large enough to safely spend time outside. Sheriff is very excited about all of his new buddies.❤️❤️❤️

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and then you have a farm. In the last couple weeks I have lost 2 ducks and one of my barn cats is missing. Spider-Man the duck was one of my original 5 ducks. He was an indoor, outdoor, desk napping, sunglass wearing kinda guy. He would ride in the truck or ATV with me and loved hanging in his front carrier. He was a small guy but had a big loving heart. Penny was a beautiful younger duck she had black feathers that radiated purple and green when the sun hit them. She was shy and quiet but very lovable. The trail cam revealed a fox was the culprit. I have lived here over 4 years and had ducks 3.5 years with no outside predator issues. Still missing for over 1 week is Jack my quirky and spunky barn cat. I am hoping he might have wondered off and gotten lost and will return. RIP Spiderman and Penny💔💔💔

Dora continues to grow and it feels more like I have a third dog than a baby gosling. Jelly and Shea made huge progress this weekend. After familiarization Shea O'Toole was able to put the ba****ck pad on him with little resistance. Everyday he gets more and more comfortable with handling. ❤️❤️❤️

Meet Jellybean. I cannot believe I almost forgot to introduce Mr Jelly. Jelly moved to Otter Limits Farm LLC last fall after he lost his pasture mate. Jelly is a 4 year old mule and he keeps everyone on the farm moving and playing! ❤️❤️❤️

Today Lionus turned 20! I cannot believe I have been with this boy for the past 16 years! He was not a fan of the carrot cake but loved smiling for his birthday pictures. I have had so many memories and adventures with this big guy hoping for many more in the coming years! Happy birthday Lionus! ❤️❤️❤️

Meet Theodora the newest member of Otter Limits Farm LLC. Thea is a Sebastopol goose that I got from a very wonderful breeder in Wilmington, OH. I have been waiting for her for over a year! As you can see she is quite talkative and social.❤️❤️❤️

Meet Bamboo aka Mr Boo. Boo is a very sweet easy going mini donkey. He turns out with the girls and loves being the only guy in the field. Boo is usually found climbing on the dirt pile or running trying to keep up with the girls. He loves ear scratches and despite his mellow personality he has been known to get the zoomies. 😂

Meet Deputy Jack. Jack was adopted from Louisville Metro Animal Services. Jack had been adopted and returned because of his inability to bond with other cats in the home. Jack fits perfectly at Otter Limits. Jack is the sweetest and friendliest boy. He loves to be held and playing with Sheriff.

Meet Hera! Hera is Otter Limits security detail. She was acquired as a puppy from David & Jenni Harris Protection Dog Services and is one of the smartest and most intense dogs I have ever owned. Hera loves playing frisbee, catching her ball and hiking. Hera has amazing natural protection skills and is always aware who is on the farm. Hera closely monitors and protects all of the animals. She is a loyal protector that also has time for snuggles. She can be found rolling her blue barrel all over the farm, picking up horse feed tubs and hiding toys around the farm! If your intentions are good she will be kind of your intentions are not beware!

Meet Willow! I adopted Willow from Alaqua Rescue in Florida when she was just a puppy. Willow has been my co-pilot for many years and we have experienced a lot of life together. Willow is a chow chow, german shepherd, grey wolf mix. Willow loves farm life and doubles as a great protection dog.
Willow loves: her toy stuffed duck, cheese and laying by the front window
Willow dislikes: people she does not know and going to the vet.
