🌱Sorting your stash isn’t just about tidiness—it’s about setting yourself up for a successful and stress-free growing season!
With this sorting method you’ll:
✨ Stay on schedule with timely planting.
✨ Match seeds to their ideal conditions (cool vs. warm season).
✨ Build confidence and avoid overwhelm.
Let’s dive into our 3-step sorting method and get prepped for spring!
1️⃣ Choose Your Storage Method
Index Card Box: Great for organizing by category.
Binder with Sleeves: Easy to flip through and reference.
Small Bins: Perfect for loose or bulk seeds.
2️⃣ Sort Your Seeds By Planting Season:
Cool-season vs. warm-season flowers. This will dictate when you plant your seeds outside
🌸 Cool Season: sweet peas, stock, snapdragons, calendula, nigella, dianthus, viola, larkspur, rudbeckia, feverfew, poppies, orlaya
☀️ Warm Season: zinnias, amaranth, celosia, cosmos, marigold, gomphrena, asters, sunflowers

3️⃣ Sort Each Pile By Planting Date:
Check the back of your packets for timing! You’ll often see ranges like:
10–12 weeks before last frost
8–10 weeks
4–6 weeks
These time frames indicate how many weeks before planting out you need to start the seeds.
Now you’ve got two stacks of seed packets organized by season and start date! You’re ready to build your seeding calendar!
