I had a meeting today and decided to stop by and see if Lynsey’s original barrel horse Cisco was still with the same family!!! I was super excited to see him and visit with Sissy. Cisco looked great!!!

Hurricane Harvey was devastating to our facility. We had over 4 feet in our paddocks and barn. As the water rose Monday, we were blocked in with the current being to strong to walk or trailer out the horses. We were able to swim some horses to safety via boat, but the current was just to hard and fast. After two of men helping us almost lost their lives, it was decided to leave the horses in the barn with all the horses loose without halter or lead ropes attached. The Veterinarian that was with us most of the day helping with the horses agreed that this would be the best course of action. Thankfully, we were blessed Tuesday morning when we were told the horses were still in the barn. Wednesday when the water had receded enough, we were able to drive in and see the horses on the grass safe. The Veterinarian was on site to look over the horses and start administering medication to prevent foundering. In the midst of the barn flooding our home also had water damage destroying most of our personal belongings.

We have been extremely blessed by so many equestrian professionals who drove many hours to bring us feed, hay, shavings and equipment and to those who have shipped us items that were lost in the flood . Unfortunately, as we continue to clean Our needs continue to grow, with paddocks needed new fencing, arena needing footing replaced, gates and fencing that where destroyed in the current, as well as the barn needing to be cleaned, limed, and disinfected. The Special Olympic Team is needing horses to replace the two horses that were lost during the storm. Our lesson program lost some jumps, lunge lines, crops, and mounting blocks. We are trying to reopen for boarders and the lesson program by the end of September.

We had a blessed day today. We were able to walk out our horses and had the vet check them out. unfortunately we still have two horses unaccounted for a palomino mare and a brown and white paint mare. If you have seen or heard of anyone rescuing a horse that matches these description please let us know.
A Special Thank you to all of our family, friends, neighbors that went above and beyond to help us during this disaster!
