sweet, innocent boy we love you more than you know💙

we had our oncology appointment yesterday and had to officially hear that anchor’s tumor was a grade 3 mast cell tumor (the highest level that they can be). the tumor is removed but they weren’t able to get the best margins given how high grade mast cell tumors spread. since the tumor was already removed, our next steps will be an X-ray and ultrasound on Thursday to see if it has spread elsewhere. if it hasn’t spread, Anchor will have his first of 6 radiation treatments and then after his 2nd radiation treatment he will also be starting chemotherapy.

I’m honestly still in shock and can’t even believe that I’m having to write a caption like this about my perfect two year old puppy. we are going to be doing everything we can to make sure he lives the fullest life that he can and beat the prognosis of 18 months. I’m so thankful that he is still acting like himself but please continue to think of him and us as we navigate these next few weeks💔 also thank you to everyone that has reached out and sent love it means so much and I feel so lucky to have such an amazing community surrounding us.

this week has been incredibly difficult and it’s really hard to want to celebrate anything but today we celebrate our og boy, brew. i cannot believe that you are 8 years old. you are still just as crazy as you were when you were 2 years old and we love you for that. at 7 years old, brewski received his first dog sport title, dock master and if given the opportunity would play fetch all day. there truly has been no slowing down for this boy and I hope that it stays that way for many more years. we love you brew, happy birthday buddy💚

this is not the post I thought I’d be making today on my 35th birthday

i had envisioned coming on here to say that our post op appointment went great but that was far from the case. the mass that was removed from anchor’s head was a mast cell tumor and high grade. i am at a complete loss for words and honestly feel like my world is crashing down on me. those who know anchor know just how sweet of a boy he is and he quite literally is my anchor in this crazy world. we don’t have all of the answers yet and are currently waiting to make an oncologist appointment which I’m hoping is soon. we are going to be doing everything we can to fight this thing and making sure that anchor lives his very best life 😭🧡 please keep anchy in your thoughts and I’ll try and do my best to update you when I’m able to

going back to work after a long weekend is rough but we had such a good weekend so I really can’t be mad. we had a scent work trial this weekend where we got our Novice Exterior and Novice Interior titles and our first Q in Buried and first Q in Advanced Exterior! Anchor was VERY excited to get out of the house to smell stuff and of course get all of the single ingredient cubes for being the best boy! we have his post op follow up appointment today so please send allll of the good vibes our way!🧡 hope you all have a great week!

we had a pretty uneventful weekend but it was much needed. anchor is 4 days post op and is doing well! if he could zoom around he would be but he is on pretty strict restrictions right now to let his incision heal. we should be hearing back from the dr sometime this week for the lab results of his mass and I’d be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t a little anxious about it. I’ll definitely keep you all updated when I can and don’t forget to get out and vote tomorrow!🗳️

I’ve definitely been in an IG slump since returning from the east coast. I took so many pictures and videos and have barely shared anything but this seems to always happen with me after taking a trip. I can’t believe the month of October is almost over and the holidays will be here before we know it! do you have any end of year plans or trips coming up?

anchor is officially a Barn Hunt Master ✨RATM✨🙌
•
we started barn hunt in January 2024 and in 6 trial weekends, and in less than one year of trialing in barn hunt Anchor has earned his RATM! we only had 1 NQ senior run and 1 NQ master run which imo is crazy! we went into this weekend needing 1 more Master’s Q to title. I signed him up for 2 Master’s runs and he qualified on the first and second and got a second and first place for those runs! since we had titled after our first run, the second run Q counts towards our RATCH which we will need 9 more qualifying runs for!

overall, I am just SO incredibly proud of this 2 year old goofy lab boy that loves to find those rats and I can’t wait for more barn hunt fun in the next few months!🐀😍

already missing the colors of fall🍂🍁

we are back in CA after an amazing two weeks visiting family and friends on the east coast. i try to visit once a year and it’s always during fall. there’s just really nothing like an east coast fall and if you’ve experienced it yourself you know exactly what I mean. crisp morning air, beautiful hikes filled with foliage and of course sweater and boot wearing weather.

while on the east coast I took a little trip more south to PA to see I’ve been friends with Lizzie basically since I started my IG back in 2020. we talk every day and while we have only met IRL 3 times it feels like we have been friends for forever. I’ve said it before and you’ll probably hear me say it again but I’m truly so thankful for IG bringing me some of my favorite people and dogs into my life. sappy post done😂 hope you all have an amazing weekend! we are heading to a barn hunt trial tomorrow for 2 Master’s runs and a Crazy 8!

it was my first time going back to the city in probably 10-12 years and it was Anchors first time! we rode the train so he also got to experience his first long train ride and he was the best boy. we visited time square probably for 10 mins and headed to Central Park where we spent most of our time. the weather was absolutely beautiful and we had so much fun walking around the park!

side note: I was SO impressed with the NYC dogs. we saw A LOT of dogs including some off leash and none were reactive or even cared about our dogs. if you’ve been to NYC was this your experience too?

we’ve officially been in New England for a week! it’s been so nice unplugging from social media a little bit, being present with family and enjoying the perfect fall weather! tomorrow we head down to Connecticut to visit my brother and also meet for a play date and then Friday we head further south to meet up with for the weekend!😍 here’s to a fun weekend filled with good dogs and amazing friends!

we are heading back to the east coast this afternoon! I am SO excited for all things fall! I took a few days off to do some hiking and other fun New England things and I’m really looking forward to a little bit of a break. I am sad that Brian and Brew won’t be able to come but I know the two weeks is going to fly by! get ready for tons of New England fall content🍂🍁

we met up with some friends yesterday for a bird dog training day and had the best time! quail might be just a little small in comparison to anchors big head but he blew me away with his enthusiasm and retrieves to hand! there something is truly so special about watching your dog do something that they were bred to do and I’m so excited for many more days like yesterday with this amazing boy!

I just got some photos back from our NASDA trial during Labor Day weekend! these photos were from one of our trailing and locating 2 (TL-2) runs! the dogs are able to run off leash which I love because it really allows Anchor to search for the rats independently and he just has the most fun running around the field! for TL-2 the course size ranges from 10,000 to 25,000 sq ft and there is one rat (quarry) and also false quarry present. during this trial anchor went 3/3, got a best of breed and high in trial! so proud of this smart boy who will soon be moving up to TL-3 as a 2 year old! if you have any questions about NASDA let me know below!
