This morning we were out at the Hole of Horcum on a 5.36 mile walk. This walk isn’t for the faint hearted, pushchairs or very smal children, it’s a grueller!! 🚶🏼‍♀️😅 We went anti clockwise because apparently that makes for easier walking so I won’t be rushing to do it the other way!

There was no cafe on route so we took flasks of tea and hot chocolate and some lemon Swiss roll. This walk can be extended by a couple of miles by heading to the pub at Levisham. ☕️🍰

And we’re off! It’s half term and we are starting strong!

Today we we went for a walk at Chimney Bank, the views are stunning! The path we walked was pushchair and wheelchair friendly and ideal for young children as there was lots to climb and explore however it seemed to have its own weather so warm clothing would be required, the wind was chilly.

Once we’d finished working up an appetite we headed to The Old School House Deli and Bakery, which is a favourite of ours, where we received a warm welcome. There’s always a great selection of food and treats and we would highly recommend them!

This morning we walked from Ellerburn to Dalby forest and back, a good 6 miles.

This is a lovely scenic walk, it’s muddy in places so walking boots are a must! There are serval stiles to navigate but they are dog friendly and have a lift up bit so dogs can get through.

We visited the cafe at Dalby forest, the food and drinks were ok but extremely over price for the quality.

The walk we would recommend, the cafe……not so much!

Yesterday saw us visit the craft fair at Hutton-le-Hole, what a lovely little fair with a good selection of stalls. We visited The Old School House Deli and Bakery for a coffee and hot chocolate, we have visited here a few times and we are always met with a warm welcome and great drinks and food!

Today we attempted a walk at Hovingham, attempt being the key word here, it was a wash out! 🌧🌧🌧We struggled to follow the map and direction so ended up walking so far and coming back the way we went. If it wasn’t for the rain this would have been an easy walk! We then called at Hovingham Bakery for warm drinks cakes and sandwiches. The service here is always brilliant and the food is amazing! 🌧🚶🏼‍♀️🧁☕️🦮

So after recovering from the dreaded Covid, we thought a short walk was in order. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful morning. We headed from Castle Howard to Welburn where we headed to Dogh Welburn for a warm drink and a treat. The food is consistently fantastic there, service is brilliant and we love it! Obviously, there’s no photos of the beautiful views just the food 🐷

This walk is clearly sign posted and a fairly easy walk. It wouldn’t be pushchair or wheelchair accessible because there is a couple of stiles to navigate. At this time of year I would also recommend walking boots as the ground is quite muddy and slippery.

Roughly 4 miles today, a nice introduction back to our Sunday adventures 💕💕

Today saw us do the Thornton Le Dale/Ellerburn walk, it’s only just over two miles and easy walking.

We were missing one walking buddy, her children and dog Max but we were joined by an extra dog Oscar, who insisted on carrying a log as big as tree around with him and an extra guest Laura, who it was lovely to catch up with.

The weather was chilly but beautiful and most importantly dry. In the drier months, no walking boots would be required on this walk.

There are plenty of places to stop at for a cuppa and a bite to eat. Most were shut today so we went to Baldersons; it was good value for money and the food we got was lovely however we found there were no gluten free options available.

Yesterdays walk took us to Dalby Forest. We did the old Gruffalo Trail. One of our little people took to his bike and cycled the route.

This walk is ideal for people with young child who would like to walk or cycle.

Even though the car park was full to capacity, the trail was surprisingly quiet.

At the end of our walk we called into the cafe for a sweet treat and cup of tea. The food and cost was average, not bad but nothing to brag about.

So today we were back out and on it after 12 weeks off 🙈

We did the extended Daffodil Walk at Farndale. This walk is between 4 and 5 miles long. It is one of our favourite walks but it is up hill at places and has lots of stiles to climb.

This walk is not ideal if you like your dog to be off lead due to the amount of livestock.

We called into Daffy Cafe, Farndale, as we always do on this walk and it was tea and bacon sandwiches all round. This cafe is super value for money and we always love to see the cafes dog Cilla.

We have created this page to review local walks in North Yorkshire, from the perspective of four ladies of varying ages, our dogs and children. We are far from professional walkers 🤦‍♀️🤣

If like us, you love a walk and reward yourself with a brew and a bite to eat, this is the page for you. We will let you know honestly what we think to the walk and the food! 🚶🏼‍♀️🦮🥙

We will be starting the page off with lots of short walks to begin with because one of our dogs is recovering from a knee operation. 🐾🐾

If there’s a walk you’d like us to review, let us know and we’ll see what we can do 😬
