BRC NAF Five Star Championships 2023 ✨

An awfully wet champs weekend, but a dressage test that I am super proud of! We posted a 35.3 dressage with the leaders only sitting a couple of points ahead. One mistake let the score creep up slightly but overall I am utterly thrilled with this phase!

On to showjumping after watching people slide round in the 2ft of mud for two days we were one of the last to jump at 4pm. The conditions weren’t great but Zeus jumped an awesome round and was really listening. We just touched a pole after an unfortunate slip in the quagmire up to an oxer which meant we got to the bottom of it 🤦🏼‍♀️

Roads, tracks and steeplechase were cancelled due to the ground conditions so we headed out XC the following day at 2pm. I had a blast round the course that was a proper championship track! Not many let up fences and lots of questions however Zeuster wasn’t phased by anything and jumped his socks off! 2 things I did learn, cardiac hill doesn’t kill my pony off (he was too fit 🤣) and I need a stronger bit 😂 somebody has started to find things a bit easy and too much fun! Unfortunately I came in with some too speedy time faults which knocked us out of the top 10 down to 11th place 🤦🏼‍♀️ but we still helped the team place 8th!

It’s taken me such a long time after a knock of confidence to trust Zeus and when I did he absolutely flew! You’ve got to jump if your going to learn to fly ✈️

This weekend we should be @moretonrussell 3DE 😢 galloping round my favourite XC course on the best little horse! Safe to say I’m gutted but Zeus is slowly on the mend and 🤞🏻there will be a next time for us to go!

Ummm who said unicorns always behave?! 🦄 . Well yesterday Zeus’ inner child couldn’t contain itself! I think having the dressage and showjumping before we go cross country normally takes the edge off however yesterday at Munstead Hunter Trials was a different story! . After nearly planting me on the floor in the warm up, squealing and broncing with excitement I knew I was in for an interesting ride 😂 he does make me smile 😁 we set off round the 80 and sailed over the first fence and cruised along to the second, and then the little sod hit the brakes at the last minute and dropped his shoulder! Of all the things to stop at (btw this horse isn’t a stopper) he stopped at the teeniest tiniest house which he has seen 100s of times 🙄 then comes the brat tantrum because he’s been told off for being naughty 👿😂 then pops it and off we go! Next the little sausage decides he can’t step off the most minuscule little drop fence so I stuck my hand up and said I would trot round the rest HC 🤣 . I’d also entered the 90 (our first ever 90 😬) and after not getting the XC run at stoneleigh it was safe to say I was a little nervous! I went out the start box thinking just jump what you like luc and if you hate something (ie the 90 corner fence that I absolutely 🤢🤮) then just go round 😂 but Zeus was on 🔥 clearly he’s just interested in stepping up a level and cruised round everything clear!
