Lilly update, she's much better. Today has been her best day yet. She has a new best friend, a quail. He sleeps with her and cleans the milk off of her. Very hopeful she is going to make it.

We need your opinion! Traditionally we have held farm days in the mornings, but with the heat we want to switch to evenings because the entire event area is shaded in the evenings.

Would you the guests prefer to bear the heat for the morning time?

Or come in the evenings for the shade?

Please let us know!!

Last Farm day was a blast! We had over 100 people show up! Thank you all for your support. As you know we give everything right back to the animals, many of whom are rescues. We will be filing the necessary paperwork to become non-profit since we are already doing that. Our rescues could always use donations of hay, grain, wormer, fly spray, ect. We will soon be able to give you a tax deductible receipt. Please let us know if you are interested in donating to our cause.

So last night was rough, a few months ago we bought 2 potbelly piglets to keep Tulip company. 1 male, 1 female. They are not fully grown yet. Over the last couple months I noticed Tulip our pig getting really fat. I didn't think she was pregnant due to the fact that the male piglet was so young. Yesterday evening I walked out to 2 dead piglets in the pen. I wasn't sure what happened so I sat with Tulip waiting for another. About 30 minutes later another one came, as soon as she delivered it Tulip attacked it and killed it. Now it was clear she was savaging her own piglets. So we realized we had to grab them as soon she delivered. 2 hours went by, no piglets. Called some pig experts who told us something was wrong and we needed to intervine. Tulip tried attacking us so we had no choice but to rope her. We held her down and tried to find a piglet in the birth canal but was unsuccessful. We had given up hope. We gave her a strong muscle relaxer and contemplated ending her suffering. We decided to try 1 more time. When we roped her a second time a piglet shot out of her and we were able to save it. She passed a small placenta and we thought she was done, we watched her for another hour. Needing to feed the newborn we decided to feed it and come check on her just incase. Unfortunately when I returned after a short break I found 6 more dead piglets. I then waited for another hour and saved 2 more. Then she passed a large placenta so I knew she was really done this time. So a sad night but we rescued 3 babies. Hoping for healthy piglets as we bottle feed them.
