Beautiful, sweet Mutts is still with me. No issues on the meet and greets he’s had, just needs his right fit. My 5.0 ft , 84 year old Mother-in-law loves him and calls him impressive lol! He is my best companion bud and just needs to find his perfect match. While we adore him we cannot keep him and really want to see him in a great home where he can give and receive companionship and love. ❤️

Loves food and treats
Loves a daily walk
Crate trained
House trained
Knows sit, stay, down, shake etc. Listens well.
Good with other dogs (slow intros please)
Not good with cats
A mostly chill gentleman
Will let you know when he needs a walk or a treat or dinner!
Can be persistent for attention sometimes so while I think he’d do well with kids I suggest older kids. Particularly as he’s food motivated and little hands often hold the reward 😀

Muttley walks very well on leash but needs a little work on not reacting to skateboards, bikes etc. Sometimes strangers worry him. It is not a significant problem but needs a little work from an owner who will love and understand him.

Foster can provide lots of info on him to help with transition of this sweet, sweet guy.

Haven’t posted in a bit. Muttley has continued to make great progress, building more trust and becoming more self assured and confident which has helped with his little quirks and dislikes ❤️ He’s actually getting to know a potential new home so I will keep you all posted on new news! We did a DNA on him for fun and no real surprises here - he has the biggest blockiest flappy jowled head and is such a sweet and funny companion boy. He’s 100% mutt ...as his name supports and has a great personality.

Someone is back from boarding with a glowing report! The kennel tech even said she would adopt him if she didn’t have 6 already. Guess I will give her a pass!! She did say Muttley was a little tentative and unsure of them/ untrusting at first which I have seen too (he needs to take things a little slow to establish trust) but once that was out the way he was golden! They are sending me a montage and a video of him at play park/water park (which he loved).

My name is Mutley and I like: food, a daily walk, snacks, cuddles, loving and comforting my people, toys selectively, one pillow vs two on the bed thank-you, being a gentle goofball, co-existing with Buck the resident dog. I don’t like: cats, bicycles and skateboards when walking (a little work to do there) and sometimes strangers unnerve me. My Foster-Mom loves my: snuggles, comforting, mostly chill nature, easy walking style (with avoidance of things I don’t like), getting her steps in.

There is nothing like getting voluntary doggy snuggles when you wake up. Mornings or Saturday afternoon naps..here he is.

Muttley needs his forever buddy. He is 8 years old and he has love and loyalty to give in return for someone who will love and protect him.

I have a very strong feeling this is about finding him his right match because someone out there very much needs this trusting love and will value it as I do. ❤️

Not an exciting pic but if you know someone looking for a companion pup, I want to tell you about my day with Mutts. Today I read a book in bed until 1pm. Sounds restful but my own pup had me up at 5am and then up and down constantly due his frenetic behavior (in and out constantly). Mutts faithfully returned to bed with me every time and each time I got snuggles until he moved away and snored 🤣. At 1 ish he started to pester me to get up and we walked for an hour in the sunshine. Mutts has a job to do for someone who really needs loyalty and will give the same. We need to find his destination ❤️. You will never be lonely with Mutts around.

This boy ❤️. Still searching for his forever home. Such a good boy. Listens better than any dog I’ve fostered (then again most were hounds!). Yesterday we addressed a small issue with Mutts pestering me persistently in the office. Work = no attention or treats so he’s not a fan 🤣. A learned behavior in a week because week 1 I was often pausing to let him outside or reassure him as he settled in. Yesterday I simply settled him in a bed in the hallway, gave him a treat and shut the door. For now the office is off limits. I share this because solving irritating behaviors with my own dogs take 3x as much effort. Not for Mutts! Came out my office to find him 4 feet in the air snoring on his bed. Such an easy companion.

Week 2: “Getting To Know You, Getting To Know All About You 🎶 “

Busy work weeks have put a dent in Muttley photo ops 🙂. We’ve also spent this 2nd week in foster really getting to know him - no different than a human every dog has likes, dislikes, insecurities etc that only reveal themselves as there’s more opportunity to observe. I actually love this phase and it’s why fostering is so important. I will be able to give an adopter so much info on how to integrate Muttley successfully into their home with minimal stress for all and to ensure his happy ever after. Muttley, like many dogs, morphs to his environment. We have a quiet home with a set routine and he is mostly an easy, quiet pup. He is very food motivated and perhaps he always has been or perhaps being a skinny stray amped that up. It’s mostly easy to manage and with 0 aggression but plenty of persistence on his part. It’s something we’ll work on a bit and he crates nicely and willingly so we use that as a tool when needed. Might this be trickier in a busy home with lots going on? Perhaps. Muttley may compete for attention and food in that environment and that would need some work. Said differently: to guarantee an adopter gets the sweet easy Muttley I see, walk with, sleep and snuggle with he’d need a similar environment. He’d likely be more excitable or have a slower adjustment period in a busier home. My personal recommendation is older kids or no kids but the right adopter could integrate him in most any home. Other dogs: ideally matched on energy. He’s an awesome buddy for walks and cuddles and really his only area for some work is the food thing which is more annoying than anything but could be intimidating to the wrong home. I stress again: no aggression, just persistence, jumping, pawing and barking. My own dogs can be the same but Mutts is more agile and persistent 🤣.
